Chapter 203 What is your lover's surname?
When I arrived at school the next morning, I found the classroom more lively than usual.
Qin Nianke hadn't arrived yet, so she ate some melon with the girl sitting in front of her.
A: "The Finance Department has invited a powerful woman to give a speech today."
B: "I know. I saw her when I went to other schools to visit my classmates before I went there. She was wearing a black suit and had a stern face. She didn't smile at all."
A: "That's not right. I saw her today, and she was chatting and laughing with everyone."
B: "You don't know, she remarried, and I heard her husband is younger than her."
C: "I know that too. Her husband is quite handsome. I heard that he washes her underwear and socks by hand at home and carries her bag, holds her umbrella, and brings her a thermos when she goes out."
A: "You're after the money, aren't you?"
B: "Of course, one of them is rich and the other is willing to come out. It's a matter of mutual consent, and no one else can say anything about it."
A: "Women rely on love and money. Let's study hard and make more money. As long as you have money, you won't lack handsome men no matter how old you are."
Yan Buyu listened from behind, nodding frequently.
That's absolutely right.
"What are you doing? Are you sleepy? You've been nodding like that." Qin Nianke came in carrying two cups of coffee. "Do you want some?"
“Miss Xie,” Yan Buyu gratefully accepted it. “I didn’t sleep much last night, and I didn’t dare to drink coffee this morning, for fear that my family would worry.”
“Tsk,” Qin Nianke pulled out a book, “It’s not good for the family to care too much. It’s hard to do anything bad. I’m not as free as they are.”
Yan Buyu pictured his two older brothers strolling around the yard in their pajamas and nodded. "I'm mainly worried about them getting tired."
"What were you doing just now?" Qin Nianke continued, "Did you find a new gossip buddy behind my back? If you don't say anything, I'm going to beat you up."
"Let me tell you." Yan Buyu recounted everything he had heard to Qin Nianke verbatim.
"Ah! Strong women, do strong women also like men who flatter them? Shouldn't strong women like men who are stronger than themselves?"
"Well...maybe everyone is different. She might just like the considerate type." Yan Buyu scratched his head. "What kind do you like?"
"Face, abs, stamina." Qin Nian chose her boyfriend based on three criteria: "What about you?"
"I like your cousin." Yan Buyu chuckled, as if Si Jingxu had everything.
Qin Nianke pushed her away with disdain, saying, "You have bad taste."
During the break, Yan Buyu went to the restroom with Qin Nianke.
He was stopped by a teacher from his own department, who said, "Yan Buyu, take this document to Professor Li in the Finance Department."
Professor Li opened the door.
Seeing two people outside the door, he was clearly taken aback for a moment, looking them up and down. "Which of you is Yan Buyu?"
"Professor, this is me. These are the materials our teacher asked us to deliver to you." Yan Buyu said softly, handing over the documents.
Professor Li didn't take it. She glanced at Qin Nianke and said, "This student, you go back first. I need Yan Buyu to help me get some things for your teacher."
"Ah, oh, okay." Qin Nianke could tell that she was shooing Yan Buyu away, so she gave him a 'wait for you over there' gesture and turned to the corner of the stairs.
"Come in with me." Professor Li smiled and nodded, gesturing for Yan Buyu to enter.
Without saying a word, he took the documents and went into the office.
Upon entering, I discovered there was another person inside.
The woman, around fifty years old, had short hair, wore exquisite makeup, and a smart pink suit skirt.
Her makeup, accessories, and clothing clearly indicate that she is very wealthy.
A strong woman from the finance department gave a speech.
However, I'm not interested in talking.
"Professor, what can I take?" Yan Buyu placed the materials he was holding on Professor Li's desk and asked softly.
"Please sit down," Professor Li said with a smile, looking her up and down. "You just don't say a word."
Does this mean he needs to speak with her? It's not just a simple document delivery.
“You are beautiful and intelligent. I have reviewed your file,” Professor Li said, sitting at his desk with his hands clasped on the table. His eyes behind his glasses were gentle and non-threatening. “You are a reasonable and well-behaved young woman.”
"Professor, I don't understand."
“I also have a child, about your age, a boy,” Professor Li said to himself. “When I divorced his father, he was already thirteen years old. When the judge asked him who he wanted to live with, he chose his father without hesitation.”
It's because she's usually too strict with him.
She forbids me from looking at my phone, playing games, and if my grades aren't good, she'll drag me along to summarize my experiences and lessons learned.
“He complained that I controlled him, that he felt restricted, and that I was just a learning machine to him,” Professor Li said, her voice becoming hoarse.
"But I love him very much. Parents who love their children plan far ahead for them. Everything I have now is the result of my knowledge and hard work."
For children who come from the mountains, the only chance to defy fate is through education.
But her children couldn't understand her good intentions.
When his parents divorced, he resolutely chose his father, who had never interfered with his studies.
“He called me the other day and said that he can only do the most ordinary job now, at the bottom of the company, earning the lowest salary, and having to watch everyone’s face. He said he regrets it.”
"Professor Li, why are you telling me all this?" Yan Buyu stood up from his seat.
Although the person opposite her was smiling, she felt uncomfortable. "Have you come to the wrong person, or do you expect me to use my family connections to help your son find a job?"
Professor Li adjusted his glasses. "You've got the right person. Yan Buyu, a junior in French. You're currently living with your stepmother's family, to whom you have no blood relation."
Yan Buyu's expression hardened. "Although you are a professor, you haven't given me enough respect. I don't think I need to stay any longer."
She turned around.
"Wait a minute." The strong woman, who hadn't spoken for a while, called out to Yan Buyu. She stood up and said, "Buyu, your father misses you very much. He wants to see you."
Without saying a word, he stopped walking and suddenly turned around.
A divorced, wealthy, successful woman, nourished by love...
She took a deep breath. "Madam, I heard you've remarried. If I may be so bold, may I ask your husband's surname?"
When asked about her other half, the strong woman smiled gently, with a shyness beyond her years, "Like you, my surname is Yan."
Without saying a word, he understood completely.
Words set sail.
This is a series of elaborate schemes to trap her.
She sized up the strong woman. "What happened between Yan Qihang and me is none of your business. The fact that you called me here through school connections shows a lack of manners and character."
“But, Buyu,” Ruan Censhu took two steps forward, “you are, after all, father and daughter. Your father has missed you all these years. You can’t abandon your penniless biological father just because you’ve climbed up to the Shen family in Beijing.”
