Chapter 349 Jinbao
Si Zhendong was so jealous.
In the past, none of us had granddaughters, so no one could say anything about anyone else.
How come this sullen old man, who always has a sour face, suddenly has such a well-behaved and adorable little granddaughter?
She's someone who knows how to read people's expressions and how to flatter them.
What about him?
His beloved grandson is already sitting next to someone else.
It's Chinese New Year, and this is really annoying.
Shen Buyu wanted to make his grandfather proud and also wanted to get closer to him.
Having achieved both goals, she said to Shen Baohua, "Grandpa, I want to go out and play with Brother Jingxu for a while. Do you have time tomorrow? Would you like to come to my house for a meal? You've never been to my house before."
Shen Baohua is not very willing to go out.
As I get older, I water the flowers, feed the fish, and practice Tai Chi in the yard.
At most, I'll go out for tea and a show with my old friends.
He was unwilling to associate with young people.
I know I have a dark complexion, and I don't want to annoy young people.
"Come on, Grandpa, tomorrow's the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, we're having dumplings. What kind of filling do you like? I'll ask Mom to prepare them; her little fish dumplings are so pretty!" Shen Buyu continued, "I also have koi in my pond, but they're not as good as yours. Could you come over and give me some pointers?"
"I understand." Shen Baohua finally relented.
“Then we’ll be going now. My brothers and I will pick you up tomorrow,” Shen Buyu said with a smile as he stood up. “Grandpa Si, we won’t disturb you and Grandpa while you watch the play. Goodbye.”
"Go on, go on." Si Zhendong waved his hand; this kid was lovable.
It's not an act; some people, just by standing there, inexplicably have a cheerful expression that makes them likable.
"Goodbye, Grandpa Shen," Si Jingxu glanced at his grandfather again, "Grandpa, I'm leaving."
As soon as they stepped out, Shen Baohua asked Si Zhendong, "Is my granddaughter sensible?"
Si Zhendong: "I'm listening to the opera; I don't want to talk to you today."
On the stage below, the performance of "Magu Presents Longevity" was in full swing, but Shen Baohua had no interest in listening.
He was preoccupied with figuring out what gifts to bring the children when he visited their home tomorrow.
Shen Buyu and Si Jingxu had had enough of the opera in the room, so they went outside and, after a brief discussion, decided to move on to the next activity.
"Come to my place, I have a gift for you." Si Jingxu instructed the driver to start the car, and looked at Shen Buyu with a smile, "I was so scared just now, I thought you were going to stay with the old men and listen to the whole play."
“Hehe, I just feel a little sorry for my grandpa,” Shen Buyu said. “Actually, when you think about it, people who truly enjoy solitude also sometimes wish they had family around them.”
For so many years, they have all misunderstood Grandpa.
I thought he was annoying to everyone and hated everyone he saw, so I didn't dare to or wanted to disturb his peace.
Now that they know this isn't true, they can't let the old man be alone any longer.
“Old Master Shen really doesn’t like to socialize. He only has a few friends, my grandfather being one of them.” Si Jingxu knew a little about it. “But at their age, they have fewer and fewer friends.”
Shen Buyu felt a pang of discomfort in her heart. "That's why we should take advantage of this time and spend more time with him."
Grandpa is over seventy years old this year. If he lives to be a hundred, they can still accompany him for more than twenty years.
It's not too late.
"How can you be so good to me?" Si Jingxu looked at Shen Buyu with increasingly gentle eyes. "The more I spend with you, the more I realize how good you are."
“That means you’re a normal person,” Shen Buyu said cheerfully. “What gift are you going to give me, Brother Jingxu?”
"You'll know when we get there," Si Jingxu said, keeping everyone in suspense.
The car arrived at Si Jingxu's villa; Shen Buyu had never been there before.
She looked terrified, clinging tightly to the back of the seat and refusing to get out of the car. "Your home? Uncle Si and Aunt Huiwen are both here? I don't want to get out, I want to go home! This is a scam!"
Si Jingxu braced himself against the car door, both amused and exasperated. "Aren't you too indifferent to your boyfriend? I haven't lived with them for a long time. This is my own place, no one lives here, and the servants only come at fixed times."
Shen Buyu breathed a sigh of relief. "If I walked in and your family was there, I would have run away and blocked you."
“Don’t threaten people with blocking them,” Si Jingxu said, leading her out of the car. “I don’t like living with them.”
Although the two had been together for some time, this was the first time Shen Buyu had visited Si Jingxu's home.
His house was bigger than his own, but it lacked the warmth and liveliness of his home.
The overall decoration is mainly black, white and gray, simple and elegant.
"Do you usually live here? Is it empty if you live alone?" Shen Buyu asked, looking around the living room.
Si Jingxu did not answer.
She turned her head, and her eyes suddenly lit up.
Her boyfriend stood behind her, looking at her with a smile in his eyes.
The focus isn't on him, but on the adorable Border Collie in his arms!
The little puppy nestled obediently in Si Jingxu's arms, tilting its head and observing her curiously.
"Puppy!" Shen Buyu ran over. "Can I pet it?"
"Your little puppy, you're asking me?" Si Jingxu teased her with a smile.
"Mine?" Shen Buyu's face lit up with surprise. "Is this the gift you're giving me?"
Si Jingxu moved the puppy into her arms and watched her gently and carefully stroke it; his heart melted.
He reached out and petted the puppy. "Three months old, female, gentle temperament, attended pet school, knows how to use the toilet, dog license is issued, and vaccinations are complete."
"Oh my, isn't it so cute?" Shen Buyu hugged the puppy tightly and wouldn't let go.
I never really wanted to have a pet before.
But the moment the puppy came into her arms, she wanted to raise it properly.
"What's her name?" Shen Buyu was quite intrigued, pinching her little paws and patting her head.
"Get up." Si Jingxu sat on the sofa, propping his head up as he looked at the man and dog in front of him.
I wish time could stand still at this moment.
"Your name is Jingjing?" Shen Buyu chuckled.
Si Jingxu sneered, "Try saying it again."
"Just kidding," Shen Buyu smiled sweetly, "Then let's name him Jinbao, meaning to bring in wealth and treasures, and to have plenty of gold forever."
“Hey Jinbao, I think you should be called Wangcai (meaning ‘prosperous wealth’) because you’re such a money-grubber,” Si Jingxu said, getting up and kissing Shen Buyu on the cheek. “You play with the dog, I’ll make you something to eat.”
"..." Shen Buyu's delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly. "That doesn't sound like a nice thing to say."
Jinbao was very well-behaved, nestled in Shen Buyu's arms without moving at all.
Its dark, shiny eyes stared at its owner.
The puppy was fragrant, soft, and obedient. Shen Buyu held it tightly, not wanting to let go, and kept talking to it, "Jinbao, Jinbao, your name is Jinbao, will you come home with me tonight?"
As she spoke, she took out her phone, snapped a picture of herself and her dog, and posted it in the "Happy Sharing Family" group.
