Chapter 176 Where Does It Hurt?
"We're about to cut the cake, and Mom and Dad aren't here yet." Shen Yunqi kept glancing upstairs. "I'll go up and check."
"I'll go with you," Shen Yanzhou said, sensing that something was wrong with the two parents and fearing something might happen.
The two brothers looked at Yan Buyu, who was chatting with his girlfriend, and then turned around and went upstairs in unison.
“My cousin must have a mastermind behind him,” Qin Nianke said, raising Yan Buyu’s hand to examine the ring carefully. “If he could come up with this, I’ll cut my head off and give it to you.”
“How romantic!” He Tian clasped her hands together on her face, her eyes full of envy. “This idea is so beautiful. Using his heartbeat to ring your finger, because his heartbeat only has meaning because of your existence.”
This was a beautiful statement, and she glanced sweetly at the ring without saying a word.
Qin Nianke clicked her tongue. This person who often writes pretentious poems is more particular than her.
"Miss, Mr. Song is in the garden. He said he has to leave, but no one in his family is home, so he would like to ask you to come over," the butler said quietly.
All visitors are guests, and Yan Buyu is currently the only host present, so he must act with courtesy.
"Tell your cousin I'll be coming in shortly."
There are family members in the garden too; she's just going to say hello, it'll be fine.
Qin Nianke shrank her neck and said, "I'm not going. Just hurry up. It's just a few words."
He Tian looked down on her, "You don't even dare to say a word, look at your pathetic self."
"If you're so capable, go and say it yourself."
He Tian paused, "He's not my cousin."
He smiled without saying a word, got up, and walked outside.
Song Jingyi had his back to her, a cigarette between his fingers, the smoke swirling around his wrist and quickly disappearing.
The moonlight shone on his tall figure, casting a long, lonely shadow on the ground.
Standing next to him was a man who looked a little kinder than the bald man.
When Chen Mo saw her coming, he nodded slightly to her and took a few steps to the side.
"Mr. Song," Yan Buyu called softly, "Are you leaving already? We haven't even started cutting the cake yet. Haven't you eaten anything?"
Song Jingyi lowered his head, pinched his eyes, waved his hand to clear the smoke beside him, and then turned around.
The girl in white looked even more beautiful under the lamplight in the courtyard.
She looks a lot like that person.
"Mr. Song?" Yan Buyu called out again.
Song Jingyi smiled, took a square box out of his pocket and handed it to her, "Happy birthday, little one."
"Thank you." Yan Buyu paused for a moment, then took it.
"Aren't you going to open it and take a look?" Song Jingyi put one hand in his pocket and looked at her gently.
"Oh, okay," Yan said, opening the app without speaking.
She thought it would be a casual, polite gift.
Upon opening it, I found a koi-shaped bracelet.
"It's so beautiful!" she blurted out. It was from the same series as the koi fish necklace she had received that day.
Song Jingyi was keen and observant, and he had met many people.
With just one glance, he could tell that the child's surprise was genuine.
"I'm glad you like it." He spoke softly, as if afraid of startling the person in front of him.
He had been standing in the doorway, watching her quietly as she came down the stairs.
She was well taken care of by the Shen family. She didn't have many friends, but they were all sincere to her.
The smile on her face never stopped.
"Thank you, Mr. Song." Yan Buyu carefully closed the lid and thanked him solemnly.
Song Jingyi looked at her for two seconds and slowly said, "I'm eight years older than you. Given our relationship, it wouldn't be unreasonable for you to call me 'brother'."
Yan Buyu was used to her brother and friends teasing her, and didn't bother to examine the meaning of her words.
She chuckled softly and obediently said, "Thank you, Brother Jingyi."
A man who has spent years traversing through gunfire, who has narrowly escaped death countless times, whose body is covered in almost fatal scars...
Song Jingyi, who grew up in such an environment, never shed a tear.
But when he heard that perfunctory "Brother Jingyi" just now, he felt a tightness in his chest and a sour feeling rose in his nose.
He had never experienced this emotion since he was sixteen.
Chen Mo watched carefully from the side. Although it was night and the yellow light made it difficult to see clearly, he was certain that Yi-ge's eyes were red.
This was the first time he had ever seen it.
A waiter carrying a tray passed by, and Chen Mo reached out and took two glasses.
I walked over and handed one of them a cup.
In this situation, it might be better for the brother and sister to meet.
"Brother Jingyi, thank you for coming today, but please forgive me if I haven't been a good host." Yan Buyu smiled and raised his grape juice.
Song Jingyi lowered his hand by an inch, so the rim of the cup was lower than hers.
He clinked glasses with her and said, "I have to leave first, so I can't eat your birthday cake. Please tell Uncle Chen."
Yan Buyu was in a good mood and was a little thirsty, so he took a big gulp.
Then he frowned.
Song Jingyi tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp. He was stunned for a moment, then quickly took Yan Buyu's cup and smelled it.
Like his, it was wine.
He hurriedly asked, "Last time we ate, Shen Yanzhou said you couldn't drink alcohol. Why is that? Are you allergic or something wrong?"
Oh no, I mistook sweet wine for fruit juice.
Without saying a word, she blinked and told Song Jingyi the truth, "I don't know either, but they won't let me drink. I think I'm acting crazy because I'm drunk. I'm leaving now."
She turned around quickly after she finished speaking, wanting to go find her brother.
But she was moving too fast and lost her footing, tripping over the hem of her skirt.
Song Jingyi reacted quickly, grabbing her arm and helping her up.
The voice had calmed down. "What's wrong with getting drunk and causing a scene? As long as it's not an allergy, it's fine."
His sister can get drunk and cause trouble, she can smash, loot, and burn things, it doesn't matter, he'll clean up the mess.
The next second, he changed his mind.
Without saying a word, she threw herself into his arms and cried out in a wronged voice, "Mommy!"
Even Song Jingyi, who had seen the world, was stunned for a moment.
"Brother Yi, I didn't know Miss couldn't drink alcohol." Chen Mo came over and admitted his mistake. "Should I go find Chen Yanzhou?"
Song Jingyi chuckled softly. Is it really that cute for a kid to act crazy when he's drunk?
"We'll talk about your question later. Don't go in, or people will misunderstand. Have their butler call him. If Shen Yanzhou isn't here, call Si Jingxu over."
"Mom! Mom, why are you ignoring me again? I'm silent, I'm silent!"
The girl's sweet, soft voice carried an endless sense of grievance.
Song Jingyi raised his hand and touched her head, offering a stiff reassurance, "Don't cry, don't cry."
"Mom, why did it take you so long to save me? Mom, my neck hurts so much!"
"Where does it hurt? Is the necklace too tight?" Song Jingyi asked. "How about I take it off for you in a bit?"
"No, it was a knife that cut me! Yan Qihang cut me with a knife! Mom, run! I'm already dead! Run! You can't get hurt!"
They cried out in silence, looking exceptionally pitiful.
She was afraid; she was afraid that Lan Xinyan would be bullied by the heartless Yan Qihang.
Song Jingyi froze, as if struck by lightning, rooted to the spot.
Something in my head is starting to connect.
