Chapter 315 I'm Back with Jingyi
Pushing open the two bronze doors, Song Jingyi led his sister through the corridor, where the scenery suddenly opened up before them.
The layout and scenery of the Jiangnan gardens naturally calm the mind.
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, bringing with it a delicate fragrance.
"Watch your step," Song Jingyi reminded his sister from the Xingyun Bridge.
“Okay,” Shen Buyu replied with a smile, not holding back her praise, “Brother Jingyi, Grandma’s garden is so beautiful, has it always been like this?”
A rockery made of Taihu stones, a waterside pavilion filled with koi carp, a lush bamboo grove, and graceful winter plum blossoms...
Everywhere is full of life.
Shen Buyu couldn't help but wonder what a beautiful view it would be under the covered walkway when the wind and rain came.
“This isn’t Grandma’s yard.” Seeing that she liked it, Song Jingyi felt a surge of joy. “Grandma’s yard was very small. This is an extension I built by buying the surrounding land later.”
Qiu Wanyin was not very wealthy; she and her husband only owned a small courtyard.
After Song Jingyi returned, he couldn't bear to touch the small house, so he could only start with the surrounding area.
“Oh, that’s great,” Shen Buyu nodded repeatedly. “You’ve protected Grandma’s house, and it’s also very comfortable for you to live here. Jingyi, you’re amazing.”
"Mu Zi, take Miss's things to the villa," Song Jingyi said, not letting anyone else come along. "Bu Yu, I'll take you to see Grandma's room."
Passing through the gourd-shaped archway, through the plum garden, and around the artificial hill, you'll see a small house that has become noticeably simpler.
Song Jingyi stopped in his tracks. The black, mottled wooden door with its peeling paint seemed to have been waiting for him for a long time.
"Brother Jingyi, may I knock on the door knocker?" Shen Buyu asked softly, standing beside him.
“Go ahead.” Song Jingyi said, then glanced at her again. “Here, there aren’t many rules. You can do whatever you want.”
With a slight smile, Shen Buyu lifted his foot lightly and placed his right hand on the copper ring, making a "tap-tap-tap" sound, one long and two short.
She faced the gate and called out in a clear, loud voice, "Grandpa, Grandma, it's me, Buyu! Jingyi and I are back!"
Song Jingyi did not expect her to do this.
He thought his sister was just being curious and playful.
"Jingyi, let's go in." Shen Buyu smiled sweetly and turned to wink playfully at Song Jingyi. "I did the right thing by knocking and introducing myself, didn't I?"
Song Jingyi chuckled, "That's right, remain silent."
The Shen family raised her very, very well.
He stepped forward, placed his hand against the wooden door, and felt the peeling paint on the door irritate his palm, making it slightly itchy.
Like when his grandmother held him in her arms and gently tickled his palms when he was a child.
“Grandma must have been a very upright person with a strong sense of pride,” Shen Buyu said confidently after turning around.
"What do you mean?" Song Jingyi sat on the stone bench in the courtyard, waiting to hear his sister's insightful opinion.
“We’ve gathered all four gentlemen: plum blossom, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum. What’s there to guess?” Shen Buyu mimicked him and sat down next to him. “Does Grandma like it more or Grandpa?”
"It's cold." Song Jingyi frowned and took off his coat. "Use this as a mat."
Shen Buyu held his coat in his hand and suddenly remembered an old friend.
An old friend who was far away abroad attending an economic summit.
She hasn't even had a chance to text him today.
"Little Fish?" Song Jingyi called out.
"Huh?" Shen Buyu snapped back to reality. "Sorry, Jingyi-ge, I was just spacing out. What did you say?"
“I said, both my grandparents like it. They have similar temperaments,” Song Jingyi stood up. “Besides, there’s no need to apologize to me.”
"Where's your room?" Shen Buyu asked, more concerned. "I'd like to see it."
Song Jingyi raised his chin. "That."
The house in the courtyard is the second largest after the master bedroom.
The room was sparsely furnished, with a mahogany canopy bed, a mahogany desk, a small rocking horse, and two small wooden swords in the corner.
Is this what Jingyi's childhood was like?
Song Shuchen and Meng Qingzhi are so rich, haven't they ever thought about improving the lives of their parents and children?
Shen Buyu, who had initially been indifferent to the couple, suddenly started to feel annoyed.
"Does it smell?" Song Jingyi asked.
He didn't let anyone into the room; the furniture was covered in a thick layer of dust.
Did the child get overheated by the smell?
Before Shen Buyu could reply, he gently wrapped his right arm around her wrist and led her out of the room.
"Don't Song Shuchen and Meng Qingzhi give you living expenses?" Shen Buyu asked, looking displeased.
So that's why.
Song Jingyi rubbed her head. "Here, but Grandma won't take it. You said she likes bamboo, and she's upright but a bit stubborn. She insists on not taking Song Shuchen's dirty money."
Shen Buyu thought for a moment, "If it were before, I wouldn't have taken it either, but now, why not take it? I'll just take their money and live a carefree life."
“You’re right,” Song Jingyi agreed with his sister. “If it were me, I would not only live a carefree life with their money, but I would also make them angry.”
"Like when you borrow a child and claim it's your own?" Shen Buyu chuckled at the mention of this.
“This is nothing. There are even more outrageous things. I’ll tell you about them later to cheer you up,” Song Jingyi said, his hand still wrapped around his sister’s wrist. He was reluctant to let go. “Come on, let’s go eat. Have someone tidy up this place before we come back to play.”
"Grandpa and Grandma, let's go eat!" Shen Buyu followed Song Jingyi for a few steps, then turned around and shouted towards the empty courtyard.
The brother and sister came out of the wooden door chatting and laughing, and a tall, strong silver-haired man with a buzz cut came towards them.
"Brother Yi," he called out in a low voice.
Her gaze lingered on Song Jingyi's hand holding her sister's for two seconds before quickly turning to Shen Buyu, "Miss."
“Ze Ming,” Song Jingyi said succinctly, “you want to see him, so he is.”
"Ah, hello, Ze Ming," Shen Buyu greeted.
As expected of someone who has long been involved in eavesdropping and tracking, he has fair skin, a hoarse voice, and a head of neat and handsome silver hair.
“Ah Cheng was catching fish in the pond,” Ze Ming said in a flat voice. “He said he wanted to catch the fattest one for Miss to eat.”
He's just here to complain.
“Ah,” Shen Buyu couldn’t help but say, “Koi can’t be eaten. The fish food they’re fed contains color enhancers and antibiotics.”
"Go beat him up," Song Jingyi instructed Ze Ming, "and while you're at it, call a few people who can cook over."
"Yes, Brother Yi."
"Thank you, Ze Ming," Shen Buyu said, turning his head to express his gratitude.
"Miss, you're too kind." Ze Ming liked this polite child. "Beating up A-Cheng is what I should do."
“No, I heard from A-Cheng that you were the one who shot Yan Qihang to death,” Shen Buyu said frankly, her face beaming. “Thank you.”
Ze Ming liked her even more.
The things they did would have scared most kids away long ago.
The young lady even thanked him.
Ze Ming's face remained expressionless, but he was quite happy inside.
He'll have to tell him about this after he beats up the bald guy, to make him furious.
