After speaking, Su Lu put the bowls and chopsticks in the kitchen. Qin Xiaoxiao went into her space and sorted out the remaining 1,300 silk scarves, putting them in a bag. She also took out ten watches that weren't very valuable and put them in the bag. Finally, she saw the ginseng she had bought at the pharmacy and put two of them in the bag as well.
After leaving the space, Su Lu had just finished packing up, and Qin Xiaoxiao showed the ginseng to Su Lu.
"I also have ginseng in my space, how about this one?"
"It's probably not wild ginseng; it seems to be cultivated. There are also many other Chinese medicinal herbs in the space. Come with me tomorrow to take a look and see if we can sell them all."
Su Lu picked up the ginseng and examined it. "It's not wild ginseng, so it's not worth much. It's also relatively young, but the quality is not bad. Do you have any more?"
Qin Xiaoxiao nodded and took out all the ginseng from her space, arranging it on the kang (a heated brick bed).
Su Lu looked at them one by one, putting them away one by one, dividing them into two groups. After he finished looking at them all, one group had sixty or seventy pieces, while the other group had very few, only eight pieces.
"These are cultivated ginseng, while these are wild ginseng. However, none of them are very old. The oldest one is a hundred years old. This one cannot be sold; we must keep it for our own future use."
This one is eighty years old. I'll take it out when I go to Beijing and meet someone knowledgeable or when something happens. The remaining six can be sold; they should fetch around two or three thousand.
These cultivated ones are quite valuable, around a hundred yuan per stalk. A whole bunch like this could fetch a good price.
Qin Xiaoxiao did the math and realized, wow, artificially cultivated ones are more valuable than wild ones.
Qin Xiaoxiao gasped and vanished from the room in an instant.
Su Lu sighed as he looked at the spot where Qin Xiaoxiao had suddenly disappeared.
My wife needs to tell him to let her know before entering the space next time, otherwise he'll be easily frightened.
Once inside the space, Qin Xiaoxiao searched through it again, this time thoroughly looking inside and out, and also tidying up the space once more.
Qin Xiaoxiao was stunned when she finished organizing everything.
Before the apocalypse, Qin Xiaoxiao had a mountain of designer bags and clothes that she coveted but couldn't afford. She stuffed all of these clothes and bags into cardboard boxes, but there were still some left. With no other choice, Qin Xiaoxiao had to pile the cardboard boxes on the ground as a mat, and then pile the clothes and bags on top of the cardboard boxes.
Shoes were piled up high, separated by gender and shoe size. Since none of them could be worn, Qin Xiaoxiao piled them up with her clothes, taking up one wall of space.
I piled up daily necessities and toiletries together, put the commonly used sanitary napkins and toilet paper separately, and picked out the cheapest towels to put aside, planning to see if I could sell them later.
There were quite a few bedding items as well. Qin Xiaoxiao picked out some simple-patterned pure cotton four-piece sets, thinking that they would be enough to avoid arousing suspicion, and put them aside.
Qin Xiaoxiao didn't plan to sell the snacks, grains, and fruits; she didn't even have enough for herself, so she decided to keep them.
There were hundreds of bolts of fabric in the space, mostly for making curtains, bed sheets, and duvet covers, with a few for making clothes. Qin Xiaoxiao looked at them and found that almost none of them were usable right now, so she could only take them out later.
Then there are the household appliances, which she dared not bring. Qin Xiaoxiao had no choice but to pile them up in another corner and look for them when she could take them out to use them someday.
Qin Xiaoxiao put all the expensive items like jewelry and watches together, and also took out some generic watches to sell. However, she had to let Su Lu take a look before selling them to make sure they were safe.
Qin Xiaoxiao doesn't plan to sell her jewelry for the time being. The style and workmanship are too eye-catching, and it's not appropriate to sell it now. She'll wear it herself when the economy improves, and she can sell some of the same styles then. She'll then buy a new house.
Finally, there was a portion of weapons, all of which she had acquired from the base after the apocalypse. These things couldn't be taken out; taking them out would be fatal!
There are three other vehicles in the space: a van, which she used to drive from the city to the base; an off-road vehicle; and finally, a small, exquisite electric vehicle, which she bought herself before the apocalypse.
Needless to say, I can't take either of these; I can only admire them myself.
As for why we didn't collect a few supercars or anything, well, those things are impractical in the apocalypse. Not only do they waste fuel, but their chassis are also low, so even zombies wouldn't dare to hit them, for fear that the zombies would fall to the ground and get dragged under the car. If you were forced to stop and surrounded by zombies, you would be helpless and could only wait to die.
We have one bicycle and two electric scooters, but we don't use them anymore.
depressed!
After she finished cleaning up, Qin Xiaoxiao plopped down on the ground.
I didn't find a single ginseng root I was looking for, but I ended up tidying up the whole space. I'm exhausted!
Three hours later, Qin Xiaoxiao came out of the space. Su Lu was still awake and stared at the place where she had disappeared with red eyes. As soon as he saw her appear, he immediately hugged her.
"Honey, could you please tell me before you go in next time? I get scared when you suddenly disappear."
Leaning on Qin Xiaoxiao's shoulder, Su Lu whispered her request, which touched the heart of this old auntie, Qin Xiaoxiao.
He patted Su Lu's head and said, "Okay, okay, no problem. I'll definitely tell you in advance next time."
After lingering with Qin Xiaoxiao for a while, Su Lu finally asked if they had found any ginseng.
Qin Xiaoxiao shook her head dejectedly, spread her hands, and collapsed onto the kang (a heated brick bed). "That's all, not a single one left. These are all outside. But there are some other things we need. Can you take a look?"
Su Lu nodded, and Qin Xiaoxiao quickly took out the four-piece bedding set, watch, and towel.
"Take a good look yourself and see if you can sell it. If you can, we'll take it out little by little. Anyway, there's still plenty of space; we won't use it all up."
Su Lu flipped through it and nodded. "Pretty much, no big problem. The towels are of better quality than the ones we have now. If we're going to take them out, we'll have to find an excuse. It would be best to say that they were shipped from Duogang City and are foreign goods. I'll have to make a couple of trips to the south before we can talk about that."
The watch and the four-piece bedding set can be sold; there's no danger in doing so.
Qin Xiaoxiao breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, and put all the items back into her space and placed them in a corner, to be taken out again when needed.
Su Lu pushed the ginseng and the watch he had taken out earlier to Qin Xiaoxiao, saying, "Put these away for now, and give them to me when I go out on my next trip. It's not safe to leave them outside."
After all, the two of them lived in the educated youth compound, and Su Yu often came over. If someone saw them, it would be difficult to explain, and they would have to go through the trouble of explaining, which was not worth it.
Qin Xiaoxiao nodded and put away the watch and ginseng.
"Based on this calculation, once this batch of goods is sold, we should have more than 50,000 yuan in cash, which should be enough for now."
Courtyard houses in Beijing aren't expensive these days, and she didn't plan to buy any too big ones, or anything too flashy. She'd just buy a few smaller ones to live in.
Alternatively, you could buy some bungalows; you'll be rich when you move. (End of Chapter)
