Qin Feng repeated the name Qin Xiaoxiao had given him over and over, increasingly agreeing that it was a truly wonderful name. (Please allow the author a moment of self-indulgence: I named my son.)
When Su Lu returned, he learned that his wife had already named their youngest son, and he couldn't help but clap his hands in delight.
"Wife, you're amazing. No wonder you graduated from high school, even the name you came up with is so nice."
Qin Feng and Ma Dahua rolled their eyes at Su Lu's mindless praise, but Qin Xiaoxiao was quite pleased and immediately widened her eyes and laughed, "Really? You also think this name is good?"
Su Lu hung all the diapers up to dry, sat down next to Qin Xiaoxiao, put his arm around her waist, and nodded with a smile, saying, "Of course, my wife is so capable, how could she possibly stump you with just a name? Isn't that right, Xiao Chenxi?"
Su Lu was playing with the child next to Qin Xiaoxiao, but little did he know that his wife had already turned pale.
Qin Xiaoxiao slapped Su Lu's hand, "Good my ass! Little Chenxi, this is Qin Chenrui."
Su Lu was taken aback. He looked at the baby on the bed, then at the baby in Ma Dahua's arms, tilted his head and frowned, saying, "They're so small, it's hard to tell them apart! They all look pretty much the same."
Qin Feng couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Can't you tell the difference between a baby and a swaddle? Your daughter has a red floral swaddle, and your son has a green floral swaddle. How can you not tell them apart?"
Su Lu scratched his head, smiled sheepishly, and then quickly took Qin Chenxi from him.
"My daughter is the best. She doesn't mind that her dad is clumsy, right? My eldest daughter."
Qin Chenxi answered Su Lu with a yawn.
Su Lu didn't take it seriously and showered Qin Chenxi with praise, making Qin Xiaoxiao a little overwhelmed and doubt whether her daughter was really as good as Su Lu said.
Qin Xiaoxiao quickly stopped thinking about it. After all, she was the one who gave birth to her daughter, so why shouldn't she be happy to be praised?
At noon, Qin Aiguo and his grandmother braved the cold wind to arrive at the hospital. They first went to the heating area to cool off before taking over Qin Chenxi and Qin Chenrui respectively.
"These two kids are so good-looking. They seem to have absorbed all the supplements we took during our pregnancy. I bet they suffered a lot during our delivery."
Grandma Qin's first concern was whether her granddaughter had suffered during childbirth, which deeply moved Qin Xiaoxiao, who then snuggled up to Grandma Qin and acted like a spoiled child.
"Grandma still loves me the most, unlike some people who can't even recognize their own children."
The man felt wronged, but he dared not utter a sound. He could only look at his wife and eldest daughter with a pitiful expression. As for his son, what was he? He was just a free gift from his wife when she gave birth to their daughter. He was just an extra child and didn't need to be cared for too much. As long as he was fed, he wouldn't go hungry.
Grandma Qin and Qin Aiguo adored the two children, holding them tightly and unwilling to let go, until they had to leave the hospital that evening and handed the children over to Ma Dahua for care.
Before they even left the hospital, they ran into Qin Hai and his wife, and Qin Yue and her family of three. Qin's mother and Qin Aiguo exchanged a glance and, sure enough, turned back, intending to take another look at the child before leaving.
Qin Hai and Sun Zhirou didn't come empty-handed. Sun Zhirou carried four insulated buckets, Qin Hai carried a large tote bag, and even Qin Yue brought a backpack.
As soon as Qin Yue entered the house, she went straight for the two children. Unfortunately, she didn't manage to touch them; instead, she was slapped away by Old Mrs. Qin.
"You're cold, and the child will get cold too. Quickly, go to the heater to warm up."
Qin Yue glanced at the child with a smile, then ran to the radiator to warm her hands.
Needless to say, Qin Hai and Sun Zhirou handed the things to Qin Feng and then went to warm up. Once they were warm enough, Qin Hai and Sun Zhirou each took a child and held them in their arms, their eyes full of affection.
"Mom, look at this child, he's been raised so well. I've never seen a newborn baby look like this before. He's so clean, like a baby who's a month old."
Sun Zhirou touched the child's little hand and saw that there was no dirt on the child's palm, and that the child's face and hair were smooth and tender. She was immediately envious and wished she could take the two children home and raise them.
Qin Hai chimed in, "That's right, these two kids are really good-looking. Honey, look, don't their eyes look like those of our Qin family?"
Sun Zhirou took a closer look and said, "They look alike, really alike. Not just the eyes, everything about them is like the Qin family, especially this kid, who looks just like his father."
Everyone knows that Sun Zhirou's statement was somewhat exaggerated. How could a newborn baby and an elderly person with poor health look exactly the same? It can only be said that the general outline resembles Qin Aiguo.
Qin Aiguo loved to hear that. He looked at Qin Chenrui carefully again, smiled and nodded, "It does look like him. I looked like that when I was a child."
Grandma Qin curled her lips in disgust, secretly glared at Qin Aiguo, and then turned to Qin Xiaoxiao to mutter that Qin Aiguo was shameless, that old chicken skin wanted to be compared to soft tofu, which made Qin Xiaoxiao chuckle, but she didn't laugh for long because of the pain in her wound.
Qin Hai and Sun Zhirou not only brought food for everyone, but also chicken soup for Qin Xiaoxiao. While everyone was eating, the child was left in Qin Yue's care, which made Qin Yue very happy. She looked at the child from left to right and couldn't get enough of her.
When Qin Hai and Sun Zhirou were about to leave, they took out four sets of baby clothes, milk powder, baby bottles, malted milk powder, diapers for the baby, and the baby clothes that Qin Yue wore when she was little from their bag.
Qin Ming also had clothes he wore when he was a child, but he didn't take them because they had been stored away for too long and had passed through the lives of the four brothers, including Qin Ye. They were simply not presentable enough, so he could only take Qin Yue's clothes instead.
Qin Xiaoxiao and Su Lu didn't mind. They knew Sun Zhirou meant well. It's said that children can grow up smoothly if they wear their older siblings' clothes. The fact that she was willing to give them to the children showed her the greatest sincerity.
The group stayed until it was dark before heading back. Sun Zhirou took leave from work and will come back to keep watch the next day, so that Ma Dahua can go back and rest for a day.
Ma Dahua readily agreed, and she and Su Lu would keep watch over him tonight.
Qin Xiaoxiao didn't sleep well that night. Although she didn't have to get up to feed the baby, she and Su Lu had been poisoned by novels and were afraid that someone would come in and steal the baby while they were asleep. She tossed and turned and couldn't sleep for the first half of the night, and when she finally fell asleep in the second half, she was awakened several times. She finally managed to fall asleep when it was dawn the next day.
Su Lu didn't sleep a wink all night. One reason was that she was afraid of having to switch babies, but the two babies were really fussy. She had to feed them every two hours, and after feeding them, she had to give them water. After they finished eating, they would start pooping and peeing. The diapers had to be washed quickly, otherwise they would be hard to dry in the cold weather.
Ma Dahua also didn't sleep all night, following Su Lu's aimless antics. Eventually, she couldn't take it anymore, so she hugged the child and fell asleep next to Qin Xiaoxiao for a while.
When Qin Xiaoxiao woke up the next day, she saw Su Lu staring at her with red and aggrieved eyes.
"Honey, this child is so naughty, when will he ever stop?"
It was only the first night, and Su Lu already felt that the future was shrouded in darkness; raising a child was simply too difficult. (End of Chapter)
