Crack (repair)
Xia Tong had always thought the phrase "handed over to the police station" in the newspaper was quite vivid, and this time she finally experienced that feeling firsthand. The group of parents had been sitting there observing the situation, only snapping out of their daze when Teacher Zheng was knocked to the ground. Although she might really be a mistress, she was still their child's homeroom teacher, and they had to maintain appearances. The women rushed over to comfort the injured Teacher Zheng, while the men restrained the intruder who was about to attack again.
After Xia Tong was restrained, she began to cry, sobbing as she recounted how this woman had interfered in her family, how she and her mother had been treated, the mistress's smugness and arrogance, and the hurtful words her mother had said the previous night. She didn't just sit on the floor and wail uncontrollably; instead, she choked back tears as she recounted everything. The men, already hesitant to use force against a young and frail woman, found it even harder to restrain her. They gathered around her, helplessly watching her cry, and gradually some even offered her tissues, trying to comfort her and encourage her to take things easy.
Zheng Yulu, who had been curled up on the ground in excruciating pain, heard Xia Tong rambling on about her own messy affairs when she finally calmed down. Enraged, she lunged at Xia Tong and scratched her face. Xia Tong and the men around her, who had been listening to her sobs, didn't have time to stop Zheng Yulu's sudden attack. Long fingernails scratched her face, drawing small beads of blood. Upon seeing Zheng Yulu, Xia Tong transformed from a pitiful little wife into a vengeful goddess. Taking advantage of Zheng Yulu being pulled away by the parents, she kicked her in the stomach: "Weren't you pregnant? Why didn't you react after being kicked? Another kick like that, and even if the child in your belly was Nezha, you wouldn't be able to give birth!"
This kick was much harder than the last. The previous one was a rash, impulsive act by Xia Tong, who had never hit anyone before. This time, however, it was premeditated. Xia Tong harbored deep resentment, and having finally seized the opportunity to get close, she naturally wouldn't let it go easily. The enraged Xia Tong was like a long-awaited bomb, ready to explode at any moment.
This time, however, Zheng Yulu was truly badly injured; her face turned pale, and she couldn't speak. The parents rushed over and took her to the hospital. Only then did the men around Xia Tong remember that this pitiful girl had come for revenge, and they absolutely couldn't be fooled by her tears this time. They decisively "took her to the police station."
Once in the car, Xia Tong stopped crying and struggling, silently looking out the window. The driver was a man in his thirties, wearing a leather jacket and looking quite energetic. He glanced at Xia Tong several times in the rearview mirror, only to see her sitting there obediently, unusually so. Although her face was expressionless, it conveyed a sense of utter despair, which was quite heartbreaking to see. He couldn't help but say, "Girl, don't be like this. Let your family handle their own affairs. Getting involved won't do you any good."
Xia Tong didn't answer him, but asked somewhat confusedly, "Uncle, do you think it's impossible for a man to only like one person his whole life?"
The man ran his hand through his slicked-back hair, somewhat embarrassed: "How—how could there be none?"
Xia Tong pressed her face against the cold car window, watching the skyscrapers recede into the distance, and murmured, "I've never seen anyone like this before—" She paused for a moment and continued, "Actually, I have—but his liking is more terrifying."
When Xia Tong arrived at the police station, she thought it would be scary, but to her surprise, no one forced her to give a statement or interrogated her. The police officers were quite polite to her and even poured her a cup of hot tea. Xia Tong sat there with the hot tea, lost in thought.
Less than ten minutes later, Fu Jia rushed over, followed by a middle-aged man she didn't recognize. Fu Jia ignored everyone and went straight to Xia Tong. She immediately noticed the cut on Xia Tong's face; it wasn't deep, but it was long. Some of the blood that had seeped out had already scabbed over, while some was still inside the wound.
"Does it hurt?" Fu Jia squatted down, stroking the skin next to the wound, and asked with pity.
Xia Tong glanced at him, then silently turned away, took a sip of tea, and tears streamed into the cup, the rising steam wetting her long eyelashes. She had actually forgotten she was also injured, as if she had forgotten the wound itself. So when a concerned voice appeared, her grievances and the pain of her forgotten wound surged up, knocking at the window and telling her, "I'm in so much pain."
Don't ask, please don't ask.
I don't want to cry, so please stop crying.
Seeing her like this, Fu Jia assumed she had been beaten senseless, and his anger flared instantly, but he had nowhere to vent it. He simply took her hand and led her outside. This was the first time in Xia Tong's life that she had willingly let him hold her hand, regardless of whether she liked or disliked him; she simply longed for someone to lean on. It seemed that only he could be someone she could rely on.
Before she even got on the car, she felt someone tug at her, and as soon as she turned around, she was slapped. Looking at her father, whose eyes were bloodshot, Xia Tong laughed, "Can I take this slap as you saying goodbye to my unborn brother?"
Fu Jia, who opened the car door on the other side, rushed over to protect Xia Tong: "Uncle, what are you doing!"
Upon hearing this, Xia Xinwen became even more enraged and tried to pull her away again. Fu Jia grabbed Xia Tong and shoved her into the car, then closed the door and blocked Xia Xinwen's path, saying, "Uncle, calm down, Uncle, please don't act impulsively!"
Xia Xinwen pushed him aside and ordered Xia Tong, who was in the car, "Get out of the car!"
Xia Tong ignored him; half her face was already flushed red, and she felt momentarily deafened by the noise. She simply lowered her head, refusing to look at him.
Xia Xinwen tried to open the car door but was tripped by Fu Jia, who yelled, "You're coming home with me! Do you hear me?"
"Do you know what 'home' is?" Xia Tong asked softly. Tears dripped onto her fingertips, wetting the heart-shaped hand gesture she made.
Where is my home now? Can you tell me?
Fu Jia took her to the mansion, had her take a shower, and then left after she lay down on the bed and the lights were turned off.
When he came back in, the bed was empty, the window beside the bed was wide open, and the white curtains were fluttering in the wind. Fu Jia was startled and immediately turned on the light. He saw Xia Tong squatting barefoot in the corner, looking at him warily: "What are you doing here again?!"
Fu Jia's eyes dimmed after hearing this, and then she handed her a key: "If you're ever unhappy, come here. I don't usually come here."
=====
Recently, everyone in the city has heard about the teacher at Sunshine Elementary School who was involved in a minor assault. This news, originally reported by a small newspaper with low circulation, has surprisingly caused a stir throughout the city. The reason is simple: she is a teacher, even if she didn't teach that many students. There are simply too many students and parents connected to Sunshine Elementary School. Moreover, the word-of-mouth from parents who witnessed the teacher being assaulted has amplified the spread of the news.
Sunshine Primary School immediately issued a statement denying the rumors, saying that she was only an intern teacher and had not yet been promoted to a full-fledged teacher. She had already been dismissed, and the school assured students and parents that she was not intern. Zheng Yulu had only been at the school for a few years before being relegated to an "internship." Her former friends remained silent about her, and the elderly couple who had dedicated their lives to education suffered a great humiliation. As for Zheng Yulu herself, her whereabouts were unknown.
Xia Tong actually knew where she was and had secretly gone to see her, because her father always went to the hospital to take care of her.
Zheng Yulu was indeed pregnant, and had just become pregnant; she herself didn't even know it. Ever since her photos and the scandal broke during the summer vacation, she knew she couldn't wait any longer. Desperate to conceive, she had been taking ovulation-inducing drugs, but to no avail. So she went to the hospital and asked a former classmate to help her obtain a fake medical certificate. Therefore, Xia Xinwen was overjoyed and eager to divorce his wife to welcome their son.
So when Xia Tong kicked her, she only felt pain. Once she felt a little better, she rushed back to hit Xia Tong, completely unaware of the need to protect herself. Taking too many ovulation-inducing drugs already makes miscarriage more likely, and with Xia Tong's two kicks, even if she were healthy, she wouldn't have had a chance to stay.
Xia Xinwen, however, took extra care of Zheng Yulu, who was still in the hospital. Seeing how busy he was every day, Xia's mother grew increasingly desperate. Finally, one day, she could no longer bear it and agreed to a divorce. The two faced each other coldly every day as they discussed the divorce. Xia Tong naturally went to live with her mother, without any doubt.
But Xia Xinwen came to persuade Xia Tong that day: "Tongtong, your mother has no job and no source of income, so she can't take good care of you. Why don't you stay with your father?"
Xia Tong looked at her father seriously: "You actually knew that my mother doesn't work? I always thought you didn't know." Then she walked away while Xia Xinwen looked embarrassed.

I cried several times while writing this chapter, but after finishing it and looking at it, there's nothing to cry about! There's definitely a big difference between what I imagined and what I wrote! My roommate knows I'm writing, but doesn't know which story I'm writing. The other night, my roommate asked me, "Author, is it because your stories are too explicit and violent that you don't let us read them?" Good grief! Even the readers have said I was just being naive and innocent! Finally, thank you to the reader "淡墨" for the free ticket; it made me incredibly excited when I got home late last night! *kiss*
