I'm going to eat you

I'm going to eat you

Fu Jia's family has many children, all around the same age or even younger. The boys, who were originally in groups of three or five, all crowded around Fu Jia when he returned, acting as if they knew each other very well. Xia Tong, however, was surprised that he had so many friends, whom she didn't know at all. The girls there were dressed very attractively, each forming their own small groups, making it impossible for her to join in.

As Xia's mother became increasingly busy with work, she lost interest in dressing up her adorable little daughter. To save time and effort, she simply tied her hair in the most common ponytail every day, and her daughter wore very ordinary cotton dresses. Here, she became even more inconspicuous and silent. Fu's mother, who was always busy, felt sorry for her daughter's bewildered state: "Hey, what are you standing here like an idiot for? Come on, let me take you over here to watch TV and have something to eat." Saying this, she led her to the sofa and said to the girl sitting next to her with her legs crossed, "Yaoyao, this is your brother's classmate. Take good care of her. Also, don't read while lying down; it's bad for your eyes."

The girl moved the book aside to glance at Xia Tong, then moved it back to continue reading, saying to Aunt Fu, "Okay, Auntie."

After Fu's mother left, Xia Tong just sat there watching TV. There weren't any good cartoons on early in the morning; most of the shows were news and reruns of the previous night's dramas. She could only change the channel out of boredom.

"Do you read fairy tales?" The girl, who had been lying there leisurely flipping through a book and eating potato chips, suddenly spoke up, startling Xia Tong.

She hesitated for a moment: "What fairy tales? I've read some of Grimm's Fairy Tales."

“I found a really good fairy tale in the ‘King of Fairy Tales’ magazine that my brother’s family subscribes to. Do you want to read it?” She patted a stack of magazines piled on the coffee table and looked at her.

"Okay, what's it about?"

"The Canned People is about a girl who opens a can of meat and finds five tiny people, each the size of a matchstick, inside."

"Wow, isn't that about the same size as Thumbelina?"

"That seems to make sense. This girl sometimes takes them to school to play..."

"Really? That sounds so interesting..."

When Fu Jia arrived, she saw two little figures sitting cross-legged on the sofa, each with a book in their hands, and both reaching for the snack bag next to them at the same time.

Fu Jia pulled Xia Tong towards the door, but Yao Yao stopped her, saying, "Fu Jia, what are you doing? Xia Tong is going to read with me."

"Go ahead and do your own thing, why are you making Xia Xiaotong accompany you?" He pulled her even harder.

"No! She started playing with me first!" Yao Yao also grabbed Xia Tong's clothes tightly.

"She's been my classmate for a long time, how could she have been playing with you first?"

"First come, first served, do you understand?"

"Fu Huiyao, let go!"

“No!”

"open!"

"No!"

Xia Tong was caught in a dilemma, caught between them: "Let go first, or my clothes will be ruined!"

After they both let go, Fu Huiyao suggested, "Let's play rock-paper-scissors, whoever wins gets Xia Tong."

Xia Tong frowned: "Why won't you let me choose?!"

They both said in unison, "Shut up!"

Well, they really are siblings. = =

In the end, Xia Tong ended up sitting between Fu Jia and Fu Huiyao. What made Xia Tong even more speechless was: since Fu Jia came to have dinner with them, why did he have to compete with his sister for half a day's worth of her time? o(╯□╰)o

After dinner, the group headed to the amusement park in a large group. Once inside, they were like birds returning to their nests, each rushing to their favorite rides. Xia Tong had only planned to ride the carousel, bumper cars, and maybe even go on the pirate ship like the other girls. But Fu Jia wouldn't let her go once they arrived at the amusement park, dragging her onto the roller coaster and the drop tower. Xia Tong had never experienced such thrilling rides before, and she was so scared that tears were about to well up in her eyes. She squatted on the ground and refused to move.

What was most surprising was that Fu Huiyao accompanied them the entire time without showing the slightest discomfort, and was even more excited than anyone else. Taking advantage of the brief moment Fu Jia was away, she calmly said to Xia Tong, "Your tolerance isn't very high. How are we supposed to fight Fu Jia like this?!"

Fighting against Fu Jia? I don't have such lofty ambitions. Xia Tong thought silently.

Fu Jia returned just now, looking excited: "A haunted house just opened here last week, are you ready yet? If you are, let's go in and have some fun."

Xia Tong was terrified when she heard about the haunted house: "I can't take it anymore, I really can't, you guys go have fun."

Even the usually bold Fu Huiyao showed a hint of hesitation: "Then I'll stay here with Xia Tong."

Fu Jia scoffed: "What do you mean by accompanying Xia Xiaotong? You're just scared, aren't you?"

"How could I be afraid! Let's go! Xia Tong, let's go together, we can't let him look down on us!" Upon hearing this, Fu Huiyao immediately became full of heroic spirit, raised her arms and shouted to Xia Tong, looking like she was about to go to war.

"Let them look down on me, let them think what they want... as long as I don't go in." Xia Tong continued to squat there drawing circles.

"We can't be so spineless! Come on, I'll protect you if you're alright!" With that, he dragged Xia Tong, who was lying on the ground and refusing to get up, toward the haunted house.

Fu Jia was very satisfied with the result, and her smug look as she walked ahead of them was quite irritating.

Even many years ago, large amusement parks strived to be at the forefront of urban development. The haunted house was eerie and terrifying, with occasional gusts of cool mist and various strange lights.

A group of girls walked ahead, their continuous screams making Xia Tong even more uneasy. Even the usually bold Fu Huiyao was no longer smug; she grabbed Xia Tong's hand with one hand and clutched her clothes with the other, looking even more nervous than Xia Tong. Xia Tong felt a little relieved when she saw Fu Jia in front of her. Suddenly, a dark shadow rushed over from the side and grabbed Fu Huiyao's arm! Startled by the cold touch and the terrifying head, Fu Huiyao screamed, making Xia Tong tremble beside her.

Terrified, they didn't even notice when Fu Jia, who was walking ahead, had disappeared. They were frantically screaming, dodging, and covering their eyes. Here were grotesque ghost faces; there were bloody, hanging ghosts with long tongues. Completely lost, they just kept rushing forward with their eyes closed. Just as they reached a corner, they saw a strange green light, as if from hell, shine on a person's face, and a eerie scream rang out: "Waaah! I'm going to eat you all!"

In the quiet yet terrifying environment, Fu Huiyao and Xia Tong were like frightened birds. Their nerves were already stretched taut, and another fright would snap them completely. They turned and ran. Fu Huiyao was fast enough to disappear in a flash, but poor Xia Tong was caught. Xia Tong's mind was filled with all sorts of demons and monsters, and her imprisonment caused her to break down instantly. She struggled and shook her little arms and legs, crying out, "Help! Let me go! Fu Huiyao, don't leave me!"

"I'm going to eat you up!" Fu Jia hugged her from behind, refusing to let go no matter how much she struggled.

"Waaah, please, don't eat me..." Xia Tong cried, her eyes brimming with tears, almost choking on her sobs.

"I'm going to eat you! I'll only eat you!" Fu Jia whispered in her ear.

I wonder if any of us liked reading "The Tin Canned People" when we were little? It was so cute, wasn't it? I remember practically begging and flattering my classmates to let me borrow a copy!
