Simonton Forest
The roar in her mind grew louder and louder, so loud that Tiff couldn't help but take two steps back, and the roar stopped.
"Thump...thump..." Tiff could feel her heart pounding rapidly, feeling excited yet also somewhat wary.
Was it really just a coincidence that led her to the location where the Heart of Hess was kept?
Tiffany's eyes flickered slightly, her eyebrows furrowed gently, as if she were pondering something. Suddenly, she looked up and started running forward without hesitation.
"go out!!!"
The roar and the unfamiliar voice exploded in her mind. At first, the unfamiliar voice was indifferent and calm, issuing warnings as if it were casually dealing with an animal that had accidentally wandered in. But as she walked closer to something, its tone became increasingly angry.
The wind tousled her hair, and the voice in her mind made her head throb more and more. Tiff didn't know the exact location of the Heart of Hess, and could only run forward based on her inner intuition.
"Bang!" After a short explosion in his mind, all other sounds disappeared, replaced by the low growls of monsters in the forest.
The fog had long since dissipated, and Tiff paused upon hearing the low growl, as countless magical beasts emerged from around her. She finally understood where the dense aura of magical beasts she had sensed before opening her eyes had come from.
But she only paused for a moment before running forward. The monsters pounced on her, turning into ice blocks when they were still some distance away from Tiff.
Then it exploded into ice shards with a "pop".
It turns out that the Heart of Hess is located in the gathering place of monsters.
So, the power that governs the spirits is hidden here.
"Ha..." She couldn't help but laugh out loud, but the next second she was knocked to the ground by an invisible force.
A figure slowly appeared in front of Tiff, surrounded by a golden halo. His eyes were covered by a white cloth, and his ears were clearly different from those of humans; they were the pointed ears that elves were said to have.
What caught Tiff's attention at first glance was his transparent body. It was truly transparent; you could see through his body to see what was behind him. There was a heart beating inside him, but not in the normal heart position; it was right in the center of his upper body.
Clearly, this is the Heart of Hess.
And he is the spirit who guards the Heart of Hess.
His "gaze" fell on Tiffany, and although he was covered by a cloth strip, Tiffany felt that he was looking at her.
"You, get out."
Unlike the angry tone that had been in his mind just now, he now appeared very calm.
Tiff guessed that this was probably his last chance to give himself; if he didn't leave, he might really kill her.
If it were anything else, Tiffany, in this vulnerable situation, would definitely go back to recuperate and plan for the future.
But this is the Heart of Hess. If she leaves, she doesn't know if someone else will get it first. Hicks, Ferran, and Mira may also be after it.
But the current situation is too unfavorable for her. She hasn't even recovered seven-tenths of her strength, and the chances of surviving a fight with him are extremely slim.
Various methods flashed through her mind. She sensed that the elf was getting impatient, so she immediately agreed.
Under the elf's unfriendly gaze, she slowly stood up and then suddenly launched an attack on the elf.
"Snap." The elf grabbed Tiff's wrist, clearly expecting this, and said, "Human..."
"Indeed cunning."
Tiffany's lips curled slightly. Before the elf could do anything, she used the ring first—the one that instilled fear in people. The condition for using the ring was that anyone who came into contact with her within ten seconds.
His gaze froze, his pupils dilated.
Tiff saw a woman's profile in the photo, with black hair and blue eyes.
god.
That was the first thought that popped into her head; she couldn't even make out the woman's face.
With a blink, Tiff quickly withdrew her hand and reached towards the Heart of Hess.
"Bang!" Tiff was thrown out, her right forearm bone broken.
The throbbing pain in my heart is comparable to the pain of a broken bone.
She looked at the elf walking towards her, her face pale, and could tell that he was truly angry.
"Crack!" A bolt of lightning struck at the elf's feet. Tiff stood up expressionlessly, silently meeting the elf's gaze.
For some reason, the elf did not immediately attack her.
She secretly manipulated the vines to twist and attack the elf, but the moment she made contact with him, Tiff lost control of the vines.
"idiot."
The elf slowly raised her head to look at Tiffany, her tone tinged with sarcasm, "Using wood magic of the same origin against an elf is ridiculous."
Tiff looked astonished, seemingly having never considered this, but the elf gave her no chance to back out.
The supple branch shot straight at Tiffany, piercing her abdomen. Tiffany knelt on the ground, clutching her wound, and bright red blood spurted from her mouth, staining the ground crimson.
The elf glanced at her casually from a distance before slowly walking away.
Tiff stared at the blood-soaked soil, then closed her eyes.
This time, she didn't have a substitution technique, so she could be replaced.
She clenched her fists, concentrating intently on controlling "herself".
Before the elf even returned to his nest, he sensed something was wrong. Someone was following him. He became alert and looked around, only to see trees and the lake in front of him.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide and froze. He could feel a hand inside his body gripping his heart, but he could only remain motionless and do nothing.
Those hands were clutching his heart, and they were about to pull their hands away from his body.
His gaze fell upon the lake, and a familiar face appeared behind her.
It's that woman who trespassed into the forest. Why is she here? Isn't she already dead?
The elf sniffed lightly, but there wasn't a trace of blood. He suddenly realized that this was the Shadow Technique.
But this is clearly a forbidden technique, and it has long been lost. It's not something someone her age should know.
What happened?
A figure involuntarily surfaced in his mind: Margaret. It must be Margaret; how dare she betray her master.
How dare she!
"Thud." After the hand pulled the heart out of the elf's body, the elf fell straight to the ground and then turned into smoke and disappeared.
"Phew..." Tiff finally got her hands on the Heart of Hess, but instead of relaxing and healing herself, she manipulated the figure to quickly return to her side and bring the Heart of Hess to her.
Finally seeing her other self, after the Heart of Hess was placed in her palm, she began to heal.
The wound was on the abdomen, not near the heart, so the recovery was faster.
After the wound healed, she stood up and carefully examined the heart in her palm in the sunlight.
The Heart of Hess is indeed shaped like a heart, and it even beats.
There's nothing particularly special about it otherwise.
Tiff's desire for the Heart of Hess was not solely based on the rumor that it could control elves.
Furthermore, she suspected that the Heart of Hess could regenerate elves.
Otherwise, the elves would have gone extinct long ago, so what's the point of controlling them?
She closed her eyes, feeling the power of the heart. A gentle force flowed through her body, and suddenly it felt as if someone was squeezing her heart, making it difficult for her to breathe for a long time.
The power of the heart merged with her, and the heart slowly shrank until it turned into a tiny point of light and flew into her right temple.
All traces of the Heart of Hess disappeared. She silently recited the name of the Heart of Hess in her heart, and a heart appeared before her eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she abandoned her thoughts of studying the Heart of Hess in Simonton.
Using her own sense of magical beasts, she walked towards the place where the magical beast's aura was faint.
She walked for an unknown amount of time before bumping into Mira, who was hurrying towards Simonton.
Neither of them spoke, but they sized each other up.
Mira sneaked in while the guards weren't looking, but she didn't expect to see the missing Tiff. She was able to sneak in thanks to Tiff, because the guards were all looking for Tiff and naturally wouldn't notice her.
Mira stared silently at Tiffany, noticing her disheveled appearance and the strong smell of blood on her.
