Chapter 11: Lin Family in Jing City

Chapter 11: Lin Family in Jing City

Most of the buildings in the West City Military District compound are bungalows with red bricks and green tiles, and trees are planted in neat rows on both sides of the paths between the houses.

It is summer now and the leaves are lush, adding a bit of vitality and vigor to the courtyard.

Also because of the hot weather, there were not many pedestrians on the road.

Most of them were soldiers in uniform, walking in a hurry.

There were also a few military wives and children dressed simply.

At this moment, a group of children who were chasing and playing under the shade of a tree suddenly stopped and looked at each other.

Then he followed the aroma of the rice and confirmed that it came from the Lin family.

The greedy little cats stood in the Lin family's kitchen with their round little heads arched, sniffing the aroma of meat to satisfy their cravings.

Lin Yaowen walked ahead with big strides, carrying his luggage in both hands.

He shouted loudly towards the Lin family's location: "Mom, come out quickly, your precious niece is here."

The Lin family lived in one of the few two-story buildings with red bricks and green tiles, next to the wall in the courtyard.

Bai Huifang was busy in the kitchen. When she heard the noise, she quickly opened the door and came out.

The children who were still under the window were startled by the sound of the door opening and quickly ran away.

Seeing this scene, she shook her head and laughed in amusement, then hurried out to greet Xiuzhu.

The afternoon sun shines on the earth, and a beautiful woman slowly comes into sight, as if she is a fairy floating down from the sky, bringing with her a fresh and unworldly breath.

"Aunt, I miss you so much. Do you miss me?" Xiuzhu's sweet voice was full of joy and coquettishness.

After saying that, she ran over quickly and lightly, snuggled into Aunt Lin's arms, her skirt swaying gently with her movements.

When I saw my niece's little face raised up, she was much prettier than the girl in the magazine, and I loved her even more.

She had a very good relationship with her brother and sister-in-law. At that time, China had just been founded and everyone's life was very difficult. It was thanks to her brother and sister-in-law that she had help.

Of course, she was also very fond of her younger brother and sister-in-law's only child.

He quickly took out a soft handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped the sweat from Xiuzhu's forehead.

She said with a pitying tone, "Aunt is looking forward to seeing you every day. Be good, don't run away next time. Look at the sweat on your forehead."

"Besides, you have delicate skin and tender flesh. It would be very painful if you fell while running."

Xiuzhu hugged her aunt's arm and acted coquettishly: "Okay, I just missed you so much that I couldn't help it."

After listening to this, the latter touched Xiuzhu's nose lovingly.

Lin Yaowen, who was standing next to him, rolled his eyes. "How long are you going to keep pulling and tugging? Don't you think it's too hot? Be careful not to get prickly heat."

Aunt Lin slapped her son in anger and scolded him with a smile, "You are such a talkative kid. Xiuzhu, Ali, let's go in and leave him alone."

The three of them ignored him tacitly, opened the door and walked in.

On the dining table in the living room, the steaming dishes were covered, but the tempting aroma could not be stopped.

Xiuzhu looked at the lunch that her aunt had carefully prepared for her with great salivation.

In the end, I couldn't hold it in and decided to take a shower before enjoying the food.

Lin Yaowen complained but still quickly poured the bath water for her.

He urged, "Wash it quickly, or I'll steal all the meat and vegetables."

Xiuzhu rolled her eyes at him and didn't bother to pay attention to him. Since the water had already been poured and he was of no use to her, she pushed him out of the bathroom with force.

Slam the door and lock it carefully.

Sitting in the bathtub that was newly prepared for her, the warm water slid over her like silk, instantly taking away the fatigue and dust of the past two days.

She carefully picked up the rose-scented soap that her father had asked his comrades to buy in Hong Kong and applied it gently.

The fragrance instantly filled the entire bathroom, as if even the sultry summer air had become exceptionally fresh and pleasant.

Worried that his aunt and the others would have to wait for a long time, he wiped himself briefly and walked out of the bathtub, then put on the clothes he had prepared in advance.

The top is a white chiffon short-sleeved doll-neck top, paired with a light blue knee-length skirt made of fine cloth, and a pair of white leather sandals on the feet.

She had two pigtails on her head, but they were modified versions, fluffier than the common ones.

Xiuzhu walked slowly into the living room, her skin looked even more delicate under the steam.

Xiu Li was speechless for a moment. Even as a woman, she was drooling at the sight.

He sighed, "I don't know which man is so lucky to marry my fairy sister."

Lin Yaowen next to him was drooling over the roast duck.

Hearing this, she was very dissatisfied. Why did all the sisters in the family have to get married? "No one is as lucky as Tao Jian to marry you."

Lin Xiuli was teased by her younger brother, and she got so angry that she rushed over and twisted his ear.

"Ah, sister, let go, I was wrong!" Lin Yaowen screamed in pain.

Xiuzhu sat at the dining table, supporting her delicate face with her fair hands, watching the excitement with relish.

Aunt Lin saw Xiuzhu had finished washing up, so she went to the kitchen to get out the dishes and chopsticks: "It's time to eat, come over quickly, the table is very sumptuous today."

The two of them stopped making noise and sat around the table obediently.

The table was filled with a variety of delicious dishes, steaming hot and filled with fragrance.

Lin Yaowen first picked up the chopsticks, picked up a piece of the long-coveted roast duck and put it into his mouth.

He closed his eyes in a funny way, savored the food carefully, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face. He said, "The roast duck in the state-owned restaurant is still the most delicious!"

Aunt Lin was busy serving sweet soup to Xiuzhu. The porcelain spoon in her hand gently touched the edge of the bowl, making a crisp sound.

While serving the soup, he ruthlessly reminded her: "That duck leg is for Xiuzhu, you can eat other parts."

Xiuzhu quickly picked up the duck leg meat and took a deliberate big bite under Lin Yaowen's eager gaze.

He raised his eyebrows proudly, but still scrambled to eat the meat.

Seeing the bad look on the opposite side, Lin Yaowen couldn't help but want to pinch her face, but he was afraid of disturbing her meal and being scolded by his mother, so he had to give up.

Aunt Lin only took half a day off, and now it’s almost time to go back to work.

She told them to leave the dishes in the kitchen after eating and wait for her to come back to clean up, then she hurried away with her small cloth bag.

The three of them were eating the delicious food with great satisfaction. The table was filled with Xiuzhu's favorite dishes. She was very generous and favored everyone equally.

But her favorite was still the sauerkraut stewed pork ribs. She ate two small bowls in a row and her stomach was full.

After eating and drinking, they drank sweet soup and sat leisurely at the dining table chatting and planning for tomorrow.

“Boom boom boom!”

There was a sudden and forceful knock on the door.

The voice was rude and urgent, making the three people in the room feel unhappy.
