Chapter 7: Involved in the Storm
As night falls, the train slowly moves on the endless rails. The scenery outside the window gradually blurs, leaving only passing black shadows, which further fuels the atmosphere of crime.
Inside the box, the lighting is soft, giving this moving space a warm coat.
In the hard seat carriage, some passengers were sitting on their seats, some were sitting or squatting in the gaps between people walking by, each immersed in his own world; some were reading books with their heads down, some were chatting with the women next to them, and there were also various sounds of children laughing and crying, all intertwined together to form a noisy background music.
Amidst the chaos, an extremely harsh sound suddenly rang out.
The old woman's sharp and anxious voice rang out: "My eldest grandson is missing. Has anyone seen my eldest grandson?"
He and the timid woman beside him were anxiously moving between the carriages. Their shouts and cries mixed together, making the carriage tense in an instant.
Enthusiastic passengers cast concerned glances, some stood up to help search, while others watched indifferently.
"It's all because of you, a jerk. You stepmother whose conscience has been eaten by dogs. Give me back my grandson."
"If you hadn't been so slow and hadn't bought the braised pork, my eldest grandson would have been disobedient and sneaked out."
"Just wait. If I can't find my eldest grandson, I'll let my son break your legs and send you back to your mother's home."
The old lady had prominent brow bones, thin lips, and pointed cheeks, and her face looked even more ferocious due to her temper.
The people who followed suit heard this and blamed the woman.
"That's not the way stepmothers are."
"That's right. If they're not your biological children, then you don't care about them."
"Do you think she would lose the child on purpose?"
Those who were watching the fun and not minding the trouble were chatting away, which frightened the person involved so much that he felt like he was falling into an ice cave and was shaking all over.
The woman's already weak character made her even more frightened and terrified, and she burst into tears.
There were also rational passengers who went to find the train staff.
The train conductor rushed over and took quick action, calling on more passengers to help find the missing child.
Every corner of the carriage was carefully searched, and no possible hiding place was left out.
But still not found.
Finally, it was decided to split into two groups, with the young woman and the old lady each leading a team, searching each carriage at a time.
The train will stop at 9 o'clock, and it is now 5:30. I have to find it in these 3 and a half hours, otherwise it will be more difficult to find it when there are so many people getting off the train.
Full of tension and anxiety, after an anxious search, the old lady's makeshift search team arrived at the sleeper car.
This sleeper car has 12 rooms in total, with 4 people in each room, including some tall and powerful people.
The train conductor repeatedly warned the family of the missing child: "Don't shout or scream, we will help you find the child."
After all, they can't take the responsibility if they cause dissatisfaction among the bigwigs.
The old lady responded nonchalantly: "I know, hurry up and find it."
In the sleeper compartment, Xiuzhu felt the slight shaking caused by the movement of the train and enjoyed the leisurely time of the journey.
Gu Yu leaned against the head of the bed, smelling the sweet fragrance in the air, flipping through the old book he brought from home, reading intently.
Boom boom boom…
Suddenly, a rapid and forceful knock on the door broke the silence in the box.
Xiuzhu's heart beat faster after hearing this. Several people in the box sat up and looked towards the door.
The door was quickly pushed open, and a figure rushed in recklessly, searching the small room in a rude manner.
Xiuzhu recognized her as the mean old lady she saw when getting on the bus.
There were two conductors standing at the door with helpless expressions.
The old lady's face was full of wrinkles, and she screamed in panic: "Where are you, my eldest grandson? Who the hell kidnapped you? Fuck her mother."
Gu Yuting frowned and signaled the conductor with his eyes.
The conductor also felt helpless and tired of the old man.
She didn't listen to anything I said. She knocked on 10 private room doors and kept cursing at different people.
Shocked by Gu Yu's demeanor and sharp eyes, he quickly explained respectfully.
"Comrade, excuse me, this old man lost his five-year-old boy in the hard seat carriage at around 5:30 pm. He is suspected to have been abducted. We are now searching for him in each carriage."
"Fuck, these damn kidnappers, arrest them all quickly and send them to eat peanuts." Yan Ming cursed loudly with hatred for evil.
Gu Yu's lazy expression turned into a serious one. He also hated human traffickers.
Following the voice, the old lady recognized Yan Ming as the man who stole her braised pork. It was him who caused her grandson to be lost.
His face instantly became hideous and distorted.
He pounced on Yan Ming with his teeth bared and claws bared: "It's you. If you hadn't snatched my grandson's braised pork away when he was getting his meal, he wouldn't have lost it."
"You conscienceless bastard, you accompany my eldest grandson."
Xiuzhu had already gotten out of bed, and she was a little at a loss when she saw this sudden change.
I wanted to go forward and help Uncle Yan, but seeing the old lady's steady gait and unreasonable attitude, I couldn't help myself.
Some were too embarrassed to step forward for fear of being hit.
He moved to the conductor's side and shouted at the old lady, "What are you doing? How can you hit someone? Uncle Yan, please push her away quickly."
Yan Ming was somewhat at a loss at the moment.
A burly man who was nearly 1.9 meters tall looked a little embarrassed and explained anxiously: "Who stole your grandson's braised pork?"
"I've already packed it in a lunch box and walked to the door. There's no reason for me to give it to you. You're such an unreasonable old lady."
It was really because this family was too unreasonable and swore all the time.
The boy just laid on the ground and rolled around, he didn't want to be bothered anymore so he left quickly.
Otherwise, if you just tell the child that he wants to eat meat, wouldn’t he give him a portion?
Now that the boy is missing, he, being an upright man, feels a little guilty.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have dared to fight back when the old lady pounced on him.
Oh, if I had known that the child would be kidnapped because of this, I would have given them the whole piece of meat for free.
How could he have to deal with such a terrible thing? He is so unlucky.
The two train attendants reacted and hurried forward to pull the old lady away with great effort: "If you have something to say, talk it over nicely. Don't hit people."
Chen Yuling stood at the door for a while, listening to the quarrel in the box, with an unclear expression.
Turning around, he saw Xiuzhu's face as pretty as a delicate flower, and remembered how she had just been rude to him.
She spoke softly with a deep meaning, "Mother-in-law, Comrade Chen is also doing this for Comrade Lin."
"Comrade Lin is a bit delicate and picky. He only likes meat dishes. Don't tell me, I just smelled the braised pork and confirmed that it was overbearing."
"Oh, I'm not good at talking, but what I mean is, who doesn't like braised pork?"
"It's your fault that you were slow just now. It's not Comrade Lin's fault!"
The old lady became angrier and angrier as she listened. She was extremely resentful. Her grandson was missing, and yet they still had the nerve to eat meat in the house.
He yelled at Xiuzhu, "You are a money-loser, and you don't deserve to eat meat. It's because of you, a little bastard, that my grandson is lost. You have to compensate me for my grandson."
"Bah, she looks so seductive, she's just a shameless little devil."
"You're still young and you're already hooking up with people, you son of a bitch."
The old lady, who was usually domineering in the village, still felt it was not enough after scolding.
He was about to fight with the girl, whose eyes were slightly red.
