Chapter 9 Speculation

Leng Yan looked at Han Qing and finally said to the other two: "It's getting late, you should go back, and take Han Qing with you."

The two men looked at Leng Yan's calm face and knew that they could not stay any longer, otherwise Leng Yan might put up a wooden sign at the gate of the yard tomorrow saying that they and their dogs were not allowed to enter.

They couldn't afford to lose face. After all, rumors were circulating in the sect that Leng Yan and they were not on good terms.

In the eyes of the other disciples, their relationship was like one moment they dug a pit, and the next moment Leng Yan kicked them in and filled it up with dirt. When Leng Yan was practicing swordsmanship, they disrupted it. It was a mutually beneficial relationship.

But the disciples were puzzled as to why Elder Qingyu and his men doted on the eldest sister so much. Finally, after discussing and ruling out a series of hypotheses, including their attraction to her, their ulterior motives, and their fear of the Sect Master, they concluded that the eldest sister was highly gifted.

Several people familiar with the situation commented: "Great! They eliminated the correct answer right away." The consequence of reaching the wrong conclusion was that all the disciples who discussed the topic were rewarded with a three-day trip to the Cliff of Repentance in the back mountains.

Qingyu and Gong Cang each supported Han Qing as they walked away. Before leaving, they took out all the rare treasures and spiritual weapon secrets they had collected during Leng Yan's retreat and gave them to Leng Yan.

Then Qingyu and the others disappeared in a flash. They had to quickly send Han Qing back to his residence. After all, the fewer people who knew about his amnesia, the better. After the three of them left.

Leng Yan sat motionless on the stone bench, her head lowered as if she was thinking about something. Qin Du heard the noise of several people leaving, and through the crack in the window he saw Leng Yan still sitting in the yard.

Leng Yan recalled the time when Qin Du had just come out. Wen Shi had said, "Xiao Du is here too!" upon seeing him, and then said nothing more. Leng Yan also paid attention to Wen Shi's expression. At that time, Wen Shi's expression was not the slightest bit unusual. It made people feel that Qin Du's matter had nothing to do with him, and he knew nothing about it.

But Leng Yan's suspicion of Wen Shi remained unchanged, because as Wen Shi's only direct disciple, he had a relatively deep understanding of Wen Shi.

Judging from Wen Shi's personality, it's highly likely that he was involved in that incident. After all, everyone in the cultivation world knows Wen Shi as a madman. This is why Wen Shi, as the strongest person in the cultivation world and the leader of the largest sect, only has two disciples: Qin Du, a direct disciple, and Qin Du, an inner disciple.

Leng Yan even speculated that Wen Shi was not only involved, but might have gone even further than anyone else. However, she had previously asked Qin Du about this, and his answer was that he didn't know, which meant that Wen Shi was most likely not involved.

But how could what happened in the sect be hidden from Wen Shi, the sect leader?

Now she has three guesses.

The first guess is that Wen Shi doesn’t know what Qingyu and the others have done.

The second guess is that Wen Shi knew everything but was unwilling to care and just indulged Qingyu and the others.

There was also a third guess, which she was most reluctant to believe, that was that Wen Shi not only knew about it but was also involved, but had not done anything to Qin Du yet. This led to Qin Du saying that he didn't know whether Wen Shi was involved in the incident.

Judging from the current situation, Leng Yan is more inclined to the second and third guesses, and between these two guesses, he is more inclined to the second guess.

The second guess made more sense given the current situation, but it relied on excluding Wen Shi's volatile personality. As for Wen Shi, if he knew about this, he would definitely muddy the waters, the more muddy the better. He wouldn't let it remain as calm as it is now.

It seems that only the third guess is left, and the third guess still fits the current situation, and it is indeed something that someone with Wen Shi's temperament would do.

Leng Yan frowned and sorted out her thoughts before planning to go back to the house. As for the matter of Qin Du, she would ask other people in the sect tomorrow.

At this moment, she heard footsteps. She waved her hand to disarm the soundproofing array and the array surrounding the courtyard. She looked up at Qin Du.

Qin Du glanced at the ground and found that the places damaged by the sword energy were slowly repairing themselves.

Qin Du was a little surprised. He hadn't expected Wen Shi and his family to use such precious stone to build Leng Yan's courtyard. But then he remembered that Leng Yan was their beloved. They wanted to offer Leng Yan everything they had, just to please her. A few stones really meant nothing to them.

Leng Yan saw Qin Du coming over and pointed at the things Qingyu and the others had left on the stone table and said, "Junior brother, take these things and improve your strength as soon as possible." As if she was afraid that Qin Du would not want them, she added, "I don't need them."

Qin Du felt an inexplicable sense of loss. He understood that Leng Yan wanted him to be able to protect himself and then become self-reliant. He hadn't thought anything wrong with it before, but now that he heard Leng Yan say it herself, he felt an indescribable sense of loss.

Qin Du suppressed the strange feeling in his heart. He nodded and reached out to take the thing on the stone table. Just as he was about to touch it, Leng Yan shouted, "Wait."

Qin Du was delighted and immediately withdrew his hand. Leng Yan pulled a book out from the pile of things and placed it on the corner of the table. After placing it there, Leng Yan said, "Alright," and stood up to go back to the house.
