Chapter 438 New Year's Eve

Half a year passed in a flash.

New Year's Eve.

Song Zhi and Tang Junhe went to bring Tang's mother back to the Song family to celebrate the New Year.

Tang's father went to visit an old comrade and would not be at home for the New Year this year. Tang Xue also stayed at her husband's house. Tang Yiye was as busy with official duties as usual and could not go home. In such a large Tang family, only Tang's mother was at home.

Therefore, Song Zhi simply asked Tang Junhe to persuade Tang's mother to go back to the Song family with them to celebrate the New Year.

"Actually, I'm fine being alone at home. You guys just need to go back."

After getting in the car, Tang's mother said rather embarrassedly.

"Mom, you're being too formal. We're all a family now, and New Year's Eve should be lively and festive."

Song Zhi immediately comforted him.

When Tang's mother heard this, she was stunned for a moment.

The New Year celebrations in other people's homes are always lively and bustling, but their family's situation is special, and she is often the only one left at home.

Over the years, she has become accustomed to the deserted Spring Festival.

But this situation seemed to have changed after Song Zhi married into their family.

Although Tang Junhe and Song Zhi rarely stayed at Tang's house, they would often go back to visit her.

Since the two got married, the family has become more lively.

Thinking of this, Tang's mother looked at Song Zhi with a softer gaze, her eyes full of satisfaction with her warm-hearted daughter-in-law.

"It's time to have some fun." She nodded in agreement, and the burden in her heart completely disappeared.

Seeing this, Song Zhi curled his lips slightly.

On New Year’s Eve, there are many vehicles on the road, all of which are people rushing home to reunite with their families.

They set out quite early, but still couldn't escape the traffic jam.

"Looks like we'll be stuck in traffic for a while."

Tang Junhe got out of the car to observe the condition of the car. Looking at the long queue of cars in front, he got in the car helplessly and said to the two of them.

It was just as he said.

The car slid forward at a snail's pace.

Fortunately, this situation only lasted for half an hour.

Another half hour later, they returned to the Song family.

When they got off the car, Song Zhi and Tang Junhe were carrying large and small bags of gifts, and Tang's mother also had two large bags in her hands.

"When did Mom prepare these things?" Song Zhi couldn't help but ask Tang Junhe in a low voice.

Tang Junhe looked helpless and shook his head: "I don't know."

When he was driving, he didn't check the trunk and never thought that Tang's mother had put so many gifts in the back.

"Let's go."

Tang's mother greeted the two of them cheerfully.

She was happy at the thought that she would soon see her little grandson.

Most of these gifts were delicious and fun things bought for Song Qingbai.

The two looked at each other and had no choice but to follow.

Hearing the sound of the car, Song Anshan and Song Qingbai were waiting at the door to greet it.

"grandmother!"

As soon as Song Qingbai saw Tang Mu, he called out sweetly, ran towards her with light steps, and threw himself into her arms.

Mother Tang happily hugged the little guy, then freed one hand to hold his little hand, and said with a smile: "Grandma brought you a lot of gifts, come in and take a look, do you like them?"

Upon hearing this, Song Qingbai's eyes lit up and he clapped his hands and cheered.

"Yeah, grandma is the best person in the world!"

Tang's mother was so delighted by his words that she couldn't stop smiling. She quickly took him inside to open the gifts.

"Were you like this when you were a child?" Seeing this scene, Song Zhi couldn't help but glance at Tang Junhe beside him.

Tang Junhe looked back at her, smiled and said, "This shouldn't be inherited from me."

He was very clumsy when he was a child and not as good at coaxing people as Song Qingbai.

Song Zhi snorted and walked into the house first.

Song Anshan was also stunned when he saw them carrying so many things.

"You're taking so many things home?" He glanced at Song Zhi and Tang Junhe with dissatisfaction.

The two could only innocently explain: "Mom prepared it."

Tang's mother happened to hear these words while she was opening presents with Song Qingbai. She came over with a smile and said, "It's New Year's Day, it's not nice to come and disturb us empty-handed."

When Song Anshan heard this, he realized that Tang's mother was embarrassed to come over for the New Year, so she specially prepared these things.

"We are all family now, there is no need to be so polite."

Tang's mother smiled and said, "Oh, this isn't a courtesy, it's a thoughtful gesture. I know you, Old Song, love to drink, so I brought you two bottles from Old Tang's wine cellar. You can try them later to see if you like them."

Having said that, Song Anshan couldn't say anything.

"I'll have to taste it later."

Tang's mother carefully prepared gifts for everyone in the family, even giving Zhu Xiaoqin an exquisite silk scarf.

Zhu Xiaoqin liked it very much and tied it around her neck immediately, which added a bit of brightness to her whole appearance.

She has lost a lot of weight over the years, but her figure is still plump. Because she lives a good life in the Song family, her complexion is much better than when she first came to the capital from the countryside. After all these years, she does not look old and is still beautiful.

In the evening, Zhu Xiaoqin cooked a table of delicious dishes, which received unanimous praise from everyone.

"Aunt Zhu's cooking skills are getting better and better. This braised fish is so delicious."

Song Zhi tasted the braised fish and praised it repeatedly.

"If it tastes good, eat more. I made it especially for you."

Zhu Xiaoqin was so flattered by her praise that she couldn't stop smiling. She quickly used the serving chopsticks to pick up another piece of fish and put it in her bowl.

"Yeah, okay."

Song Zhi nodded and stuffed another piece of tender fish into his mouth.

"Ran Qiu didn't come back for the New Year this year, and I don't know if Dabao and the others have grown taller."
