The tractor arrived at the farm machinery station quickly.
There were four or five tractors and two large trucks parked at the agricultural machinery station.
Upon seeing the large truck, Xu Dong and the others' eyes lit up; there wasn't a single male comrade who wasn't interested in vehicles.
Jiang Haishan and Zhang Hongxi, the head of the agricultural machinery station, seemed to be acquaintances. The two spoke very familiarly. After explaining their purpose, Zhang Hongxi led them to a broken tractor.
"This is the one. It's been broken for almost half a month and it still hasn't been fixed."
Jiang Haishan nodded, "Then let's repair this tractor. Who wants to go first? Station Chief Zhang is here to witness it."
Xu Dong and the others didn't think they really knew how to repair tractors. Although Lu Yuan had taught them a lot, they had never actually done it themselves.
Their thinking was simple: even if they didn't know how to fix it, it would be good to come and learn something.
Li Jun was the first to refuse to go first. His reason was simple: he didn't know how to repair tractors at all. He had a hard time even learning to drive a tractor, let alone learn how to repair one.
But he gave a completely different explanation.
"You guys go first, otherwise once I figure out the problem is solved, you'll be out of the picture."
Lu Yuan sneered inwardly. Once they got to the top, the other side would be out of the picture.
However, he didn't say anything and beckoned the five people to come forward.
"Think back to what I told you before, what are the common types of malfunctions that cause a tractor to break down."
Lu Yuanchao hurriedly said, "There are generally three situations: first, the engine cannot start; second, the clutch slips; and third, the hydraulic lift malfunctions."
"Then think about how to repair it in each of these three situations."
Xu Dong said, "First check the fuel engine and ignition system. If the tractor can't start, emits black smoke, or doesn't respond at all, you must first remove the carburetor..."
Lu Jiefang: "If it's not an engine problem, then we need to check if the clutch is slipping, which would require replacing and adjusting the friction plates..."
He Shenghua: "If neither of the above two situations applies, then the pipeline and oil pump need to be inspected. First, check the high-pressure oil pipe joints..."
The group chatted amongst themselves, and while they talked, they also started to inspect the equipment. Although they weren't very skilled, they were mostly correct. Even if there were any mistakes, Lu Yuan would correct and explain them in time.
They explained and demonstrated at the same time, making the process clear and easy to understand. Even Jiang Haishan, who knew nothing about tractors, felt that he could try it out, not to mention Li Xingguo and Li Jun.
Zhang Hongxi nodded repeatedly. The tractor repairmen at their agricultural machinery station relied entirely on experience, and even if you asked them to give a detailed explanation, they might not be able to say everything.
Other staff members from the agricultural machinery station gradually gathered around, listening intently and craning their necks to look, some even taking notes diligently.
The group was so engrossed in their work that they forgot about the time, and an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
When the tractor started churning again and Lu Yuan drove it around once, everyone came to their senses and cheered in unison.
Zhang Hongxi looked at Lu Yuan with great eagerness.
"Old Jiang, where did you find this young man? He's so amazing."
Jiang Haishan was quite pleased with himself, looking proud of the situation, completely forgetting that Lu Yuan was not from the brick and tile factory.
"He is Master Wang's apprentice at our factory."
Wang Fengnian initially claimed that he taught Lu Yuan how to drive a tractor, but after saying that, he had doubts. Lu Yuan also said that he could drive cars and trucks, but Wang Fengnian could not, and his car repair skills did not seem to be as good as Lu Yuan's.
After thinking for a moment, he said, "Xiao Lu said he can also drive a truck. You happen to have one here. Why don't you let him give it a try?"
Zhang Hongxi's eyes shone even brighter, but because his eyes were small, others couldn't see it; they only noticed that his small eyes were now squinted into slits.
"Alright, let him give it a try."
Jiang Haishan waved to Lu Yuan, "Little Lu, you said you can drive a truck. There are some trucks at the farm machinery station, why don't you give it a try?"
Lu Yuan glanced at the two trucks parked not far away and smiled. He wanted to give it a try too.
In his past life, besides enjoying martial arts, he also loved cars. Because of this hobby, he partnered with a friend to open a repair shop, where he held a stake in his friend's business.
In my spare time, I basically stayed at the car repair shop and worked as a mechanic. There was a very skilled mechanic in the shop, and I learned a lot from him. Although I eventually learned less than half of that mechanic's skills, it was more than enough for this era, and I could even become an expert.
Lu Yuan asked someone to arrange a truck driver to take him, and he gladly followed the driver onto the truck.
"Master Xu, could you please drive around for a bit so I can take a look?"
Master Xu looked at him with a puzzled expression, but based on his behavior just now, he felt a bit favorably disposed towards him. He nodded, started the car, and drove around the agricultural machinery station.
The others were puzzled because it was Mr. Xu who was driving.
Li Jun was already jealous of Lu Yuan's performance earlier, and now seeing that he wasn't driving the truck at all, but instead sitting in the passenger seat watching others drive, he sneered.
"Is Comrade Lu going to ride in a truck or to try driving one? Didn't he say he could drive? Turns out he was just bragging."
Xu Dong and the others glared at him, about to retort, when they saw Lu Yuan switch places with Master Xu and get into the driver's seat, clearly ready to start driving.
The group ignored everything else and stared at Lu Yuan with shining eyes.
For some reason, even though they all knew deep down that Lu Yuan couldn't drive a truck at all, they were inexplicably confident that he had already learned how to drive one.
Sure enough, Lu Yuan started the truck. It wobbled a few times at first, but then it became very stable. He drove around the farm machinery station once, and on the way back, he even reversed into the parking space with Xu's guidance.
