Chapter 18 Is Wen Zhiqing a capitalist's daughter?

Wen Moxue quickly covered her ears.

This mother and her daughters really love screaming.

The scream from that girl named Xiaofang almost took her soul away, and now the mother and daughter are screaming together.

This is incredible!

Lu Yuan came out of the kitchen drying his hair; he had brought a bucket of water to wash it in the backyard.

He had actually already taken a shower, but when he heard Wen Moxue defending him, his heart warmed, and he inexplicably stopped to listen to more.

Now that they had said enough, they came out.

I saw him carrying a thermos and a bowl, which contained a bar of soap.

Even the towel used to dry hair was brand new.

I reckon he used a lot of soap when showering and washing his hair, because a fragrant breeze wafted by wherever he went.

Zhang Yuping and the other two almost had their eyes pop out.

"Big brother, how do you have so many good things?" Lu Xiaoqin blurted out.

It's no wonder the three of them were so surprised; in the countryside, very few households use thermos flasks and soap.

Most people would wash clothes by sprinkling a handful of wood ash into a basin, rubbing it for a while, and then washing it with river water.

After pounding it with a washing stick, wash it clean.

Having a bar of soap to take a bath is a luxury.

Unlike Lu Yuan, who actually washed himself so clean and smelled so good.

Lu Xiaoqin was extremely envious.

But Zhang Yuping felt sorry for that bar of soap.

How could such a precious thing be used by that spendthrift Lu Yuan?

Lu Yuan glanced at the expressions of the mother and daughter and said smugly, "These things were all given to me by my wife."

After saying that, he looked up at Lu Guoqing with his head held high, his smugness blatantly written on his face.

It's practically saying outright: Look how good my wife is, unlike your wife, who gives you nothing.

Lu Guoqing suddenly felt a toothache and hissed softly.

Lu Yuan continued, "My wife specially prepared this soap and towel for me."

"Not only that, when I said I wanted to build a new house, my wife gave me a bag of things. I asked my uncle to take it to the commune to ask Brother Qianjin for help in replacing the bricks and tiles. Then we can move out and live in a brick house. Hehehe."

As he spoke, he raised an eyebrow at Wen Moxue. The latter turned her head to the side, her smug and silly expression unbearable to look at.

But why do I feel strangely good about it?

The three were astonished; they were actually planning to build a brick house.

Zhang Yuping clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her flesh.

I'm incredibly jealous.

How come this ingrate is so lucky?

This Wen educated youth was even more foolish, actually willing to take out his things to build a brick house for such a bad-known scoundrel.

I never would have guessed that this educated youth surnamed Wen came from such a wealthy family.

I thought he would be another burden; I wish I hadn't separated from the family.

No, I should have introduced this person to my nephew.

"Brother, so the snakeskin bag you were carrying before wasn't filled with things you stole from home, but rather things given to you by Wen Zhiqing?" Lu Xiaoqin asked in realization.

"Of course, apart from when I was a child and I was extremely hungry and took food from home, when have I ever stolen anything? It was all your mother's deliberate framing of me."

"How could this be?" Lu Xiaoqin exclaimed incredulously.

Zhang Yuping instinctively retorted, "A-Yuan, how could I possibly frame you?"

"Why not? Just like this time."

Speaking of this time, Zhang Yuping really didn't get the answer.

At first, she did think that Lu Yuan had stolen something from the house. But after Lu Yuan came into the house, she checked and found that nothing was missing.

They suspected that Lu Yuan had hidden something from them.

They didn't clarify anything and continued to slander him. They wanted to force him to hand over the items so he would suffer in silence.

No matter how much they planned, they never expected that the gift would come from the newlywed wife of an educated youth.

Wait, what good stuff is it that needs to be secretly sent out in the middle of the night?

Could it be something shameful?

Could it be that this Wen Zhiqing is not the daughter of a dual-income family, but rather the daughter of a capitalist?

If she were a capitalist's daughter, it would be perfectly understandable for her to have those unspeakable items.

Looking at her delicate and fair skin, I thought back to when she first came to the countryside a few months ago. She didn't know anything and was sickly all the time, with a seductive and alluring look.

She really looked like a pampered young lady raised by a capitalist.

Thinking of this, Zhang Yuping's heart pounded with excitement.

She probed indirectly, "A-Yuan, what good thing did Xiao Wen give you that made you rush to see your uncle in the middle of the night?"

Lu Yuan could easily tell that she was setting a trap, and he counted the traps on his fingers.

"It's nothing much, just some grains, candy, canned goods, malted milk powder, towels, pillowcases, and fabrics that my father-in-law and mother-in-law sent."

As he spoke, Zhang Yuping and Lu Xiaoqin's eyes widened in shock. Lu Guoqing was also taken aback.

So many good things were exchanged for bricks and tiles?

Lu Xiaofang, who had been eavesdropping inside, was incredibly jealous. Forgetting her embarrassment at seeing her stepfather shirtless earlier, she pushed open the door and went out.

Lu Xiaojun was about to fall asleep again when he went back to his room, but the sound of candy cans and malted milk powder instantly woke him up.

It came running out again, clattering and thumping.

"I want candy, canned food, and malted milk powder."

Lu Yuan rolled his eyes at him, "Dream on."

The little kid couldn't resist the temptation of these novelties and started tugging at Zhang Yuping.

"Mom, I want candy. Tell them to bring out the things."

Zhang Yuping was actually skeptical of Lu Yuan's words, unsure whether he was telling the truth or not.

She was more inclined to believe that those things were old objects that couldn't be brought to light.
