Chapter 195 Full Moon, Naming

Time flies, and the three children are a month old.

Lu Yuan kept his word and arranged for a large wild boar weighing over 300 jin (approximately 150 catties) to be given to the brigade, where a banquet was held for a whole day on the threshing ground.

Actually, it wasn't appropriate to be so high-profile at this time, but everyone knew that Lu Yuan was taking the opportunity to improve the villagers' meals, and they all appreciated his kindness and wouldn't say anything to outsiders.

Lu Yuan didn't invite anyone from other villages. Apart from Lu Qianjin and his wife from the commune and his father-in-law, he didn't invite anyone else.

Lu Yuan stopped the Gao and Xiao families from coming to the provincial capital, saying he would hold a first birthday celebration for the child. Although neither family came, they sent a lot of gifts, three large bags full, including clothes, toys, and other necessities.

On this day, the whole village finally saw the triplets they had been longing for. In just one month, the three little ones had grown incredibly fast, as if they had been fed with feed, and now they all weighed about ten pounds.

Chubby and adorable, the three little ones were being taken out of the house for the first time by adults. They were very curious about the outside world, their big eyes darting around. Anyone who saw them would be melted by their cuteness.

The villagers all said that the three children were like little fairies, so beautiful. But they only dared to think this in their hearts. The praise they said aloud was, "Oh my, they are so beautiful, like dolls that have stepped out of a picture book."

"I think she's even prettier than the dolls in those magazines."

"Yes, yes, he was born with the best features of both A-Yuan and his wife."

...

After praising them, they started discussing how the three children looked exactly alike.

"This is the first time I've ever seen three dolls that look exactly alike. Who is the eldest, and who is the second and third?"

Xiao Biyun and her husband, along with Mo Yitao, patiently explained to everyone how to distinguish between different types of babies, holding their child in their arms.

"What are the names of these three children?" a villager asked.

As for the child's name, Lu Yuan and Wen Moxue were very carefree. They didn't even think about naming the child during the eight or nine months from conception to birth.

It wasn't that they hadn't thought about it, but they felt it was pointless; which family's elders weren't enthusiastic about naming their children? They assumed Gao Weishan and Xiao Biyun must be constantly thinking about names for their child and would come up with a whole bunch of names for them to choose from.

And so, the couple enjoyed their leisure time and didn't bother with the thought of it.

However, Gao Weishan and his wife felt that since Lu Yuan hadn't grown up with them, they often didn't dare to make decisions for him. They believed that parents should have their own ideas about such a big matter as naming their child. Therefore, they didn't deliberately think about a name for their child.

So much so that when they asked each other what the child's name was after the child was born, they were all stumped, and no one had come up with a name.

Gao Weishan excitedly took on the task and began thinking about names for his child. He thought of countless names and was overwhelmed with choices. Now the child is a month old and he still hasn't found a name he's satisfied with.

"Their grandfather is still thinking about their names. Right now, we all call them eldest, second eldest, and third eldest," Xiao Biyun replied to the villagers with a smile.

“You are all people who pay attention to details, so you must choose a good name.”

Three days later, the three children finally had their own names. The eldest was Gao Jinhuai. Jin means beautiful jade, symbolizing beauty. Huai means broad-mindedness, implying that as the eldest, one should have a broad mind.

The second son chose the surname Xiao and was named Xiao Jinchang. Chang means prosperity, implying preciousness and a bright future. It also reflects the hope for the family's prosperity.

The third son, Gao Jinshuo, whose name means "shining," is hoped to shine brightly wherever he goes in the future.

Just a few days after the three children turned one month old, the construction of the sanatorium was finally completed. Leaders from the county and city came to inspect and visit the sanatorium. After seeing the design of the entire sanatorium, they all praised it highly.

Taking the opportunity, Lu Yuan suggested, "Leaders, we need to speed up the road construction and also get electricity to the village. If the opening of the sanatorium is delayed because of these two things, it will be difficult to explain to the higher-ups."

County Head Luo Yaoguo assured, "Comrade Lu, rest assured, the power supply will be completed soon."

Over the past few months, they have completed the infrastructure work, including digging holes, erecting poles, stringing wires, installing transformers and power distribution facilities. The next step is to connect the power supply to households. For the time being, the villagers' homes do not have electricity; only the sanatorium has electricity. Even the brigade headquarters and Lu Yuan's house do not have electricity.

"As for the road construction, it will be completed soon, in at most two months," Luo Yaoguo added.

Lu Yuan knew that they had moved quite quickly, and the local authorities were quite supportive of their work.

"Okay, then let's wait another two months for the official opening."

A few days later, the sanatorium was electrified. On the day the electricity was turned on, the whole village came to see what was going on, finding it very novel. At that time, all the rooms could only be fitted with 15-watt light bulbs, but everyone felt that it was much brighter than kerosene lamps.

The power station staff stayed in the village for more than 20 days, promoting electricity safety every day. The village also held two special safety education conferences to remind villagers to stay away from the transformer.

At this point, people's initial curiosity turned into awe, realizing that electricity was still a very dangerous thing. Every household kept their children away from the transformer and from touching the power lines and poles.

The power plant staff did a good job of publicizing this point.

In the midst of her busy schedule, it was time for Mo Yitao to return to Hangcheng. She was very reluctant to leave. In the nights before she left, she couldn't help but shed tears when she looked at her grandchildren. She took turns holding the three children every day, and even when her arms ached, she didn't want to let go.

"Mom, you go back first this time. When my brother gets married, Yuan and I will bring the children back."

Wen Qihang's wedding date has been set, after National Day, when the child will be six months old.

Mo Yitao readily agreed.

Lu Yuan and Wen Moxue helped pack their luggage. They thought about the various gifts their relatives had given them when they returned from the provincial capital last year. Many of these gifts were still unopened, including bicycles and televisions.

Lu Yuan said, "Mom, take the TV back with you. Consider it a wedding gift from Xiaoxue and me to my brother-in-law."

Mo Yitao quickly refused, "No need, no need, that TV is too expensive, you can keep it for yourselves."

"We don't even have electricity in our house, so it's just sitting there collecting dust."

“Didn’t the sanatorium get electricity?” Mo Yitao said.

“If they need a TV over there, the company will arrange it. We don’t need this TV at all. As you can see, it’s never been used. You might as well take it back and give it to your brother-in-law. If I wasn’t worried that you couldn’t handle it, I would have liked you to take the bicycle back with you.”

"Forget it, you've already packed a lot of stuff. If there's too much, we really won't be able to move it."

Lu Yuan and Wen Moxue brought her quite a lot of local produce, and also prepared a separate portion for her maternal uncle's family and her future sister-in-law's family.
