Li Jun did not directly say that Lu Jiefang had sold the job to him.
He lost the tractor driver job to Lu Jiefang, and now that Lu Jiefang has quit and sold the job to him, it's not something he's proud of.
Rumors were circulating in the factory that Lu Jiefang had fallen for another woman and abandoned Director Zhong's daughter, which angered Director Zhong so much that he was fired.
Although he knew the expulsion was not true, he was happy to see it happen, as it would damage Lu Jiefang's reputation.
So he didn't want to clarify anything.
Zhong Zhiping was surprised: Lu Jiefang had resigned?
Also, when did she become Lu Jiefang's mistress?
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
“When did I talk nonsense? Everyone in the factory knows that Lu Jiefang has stopped going to work because of you and failed to deliver bricks and tiles on time. He has already been fired.”
"What? You've been fired?" Zhong Zhiping was shocked.
Li Jun snorted dismissively and ignored her.
Zhong Zhiping walked towards the office in a daze. Lu Jiefang had been fired from the factory because of her?
How can someone be expelled?
And those people were looking at her strangely, pointing and whispering about her, because they had misunderstood her relationship with Lu Jiefang.
No, she couldn't let others misunderstand Lu Jiefang, and she couldn't let him get expelled.
His eyes suddenly flashed with a determined light, and he stormed off to the director's office.
Without knocking, he kicked open the office door and loudly questioned her.
“Zhong Zhidong, what right do you have to expel Lu Jiefang? This is a case of using public office for private gain, retaliation, settling personal scores, and bullying the weak…”
“Lu Jiefang drove me to the county hospital in his tractor. When the old man found out, he even offered to help me get a day off. I don’t believe the old man didn’t tell you about this.”
“You knew my mother was critically ill and needed to get there as soon as possible. I happened to run into Lu Jiefang driving a tractor, so I asked him to give me a ride. If you have a problem, take it out on me. Why did you fire him?”
"I've experienced the cold-heartedness of the Zhong family before. I was young when my father died, but I clearly remember that the Zhong family tried to drive us, a widow and her orphan, out of the Zhong family. You were among them. What, are you still doing this now, always trying to kick this person out and that person? Do you think this brick factory belongs to the Zhong family?"
“Zhong Zhidong, let me tell you, if you don’t give me an explanation today, I’m not done with you. I’m not that little kid I used to be, someone you can just bully.”
After kicking open the office door, Zhong Zhiping launched into a tirade against Zhong Zhidong, who was sitting in his office chair, giving him no chance to interrupt.
After she finished speaking, everyone else on the same floor had already gathered around to watch the spectacle.
At this moment, Zhong Zhidong's face had turned ashen, and he practically spat out a sentence through gritted teeth, "Zhong Zhiping, have you gone mad?"
Why did he come here to question him about the dismissal? When did he dismiss Lu Jiefang?
That's one thing, but it also brought up a family scandal from over a decade ago. If she wanted to lose face, why drag me into it?
Zhong Zhiping was even more furious and shouted even louder.
“I’m going crazy, I’m being driven mad by the Zhong family. It’s one thing for the Zhong family to bully us orphans and widows, but now they’re even suppressing the benefactors who lent us a helping hand. Zhong Zhidong, you’re not human.”
Zhong Zhidong's brow twitched from the shouts.
As more and more people gathered at the entrance, his expression grew increasingly grim.
Just as he was about to send everyone away and close the office door, Jiang Haishan, who had received the message, came over with his hands behind his back.
He didn't ask everyone to leave, but simply asked them to make way for him to enter his office.
Seeing that the factory manager had no intention of kicking them out, everyone felt safe and boldly crowded around the door and windows to watch the excitement. Their eyes gleamed as they craned their necks to peer inside.
"What happened?"
Jiang Haishan's authoritative voice rang out.
When Zhong Zhiping saw the factory director arrive, her previous arrogance vanished instantly, her eyes reddened, and she transformed into a pitiful little girl who had suffered a great injustice.
"Director Jiang, Director Zhong is abusing his power for personal gain, settling scores, and bullying the weak. You must stand up for us!"
Zhong Zhidong felt dizzy and disoriented. These huge accusations were aimed at killing him.
"Director Jiang, don't listen to her nonsense. You know I've always worked diligently and conscientiously. How could I possibly be like what she says?"
"Director Jiang, you can't be fooled by his appearance. He's a cunning and despicable man who's good at disguising himself. I have evidence to back up what I'm saying."
"Oh? What evidence do you have?" Jiang Haishan asked.
Zhong Zhiping said, "Two days ago, my mother was critically ill, and Comrade Lu Jiefang drove a tractor to take me to the county hospital. This was originally a good deed he did to help others, but Zhong Zhidong retaliated against Lu Jiefang because he broke off his engagement with his daughter, and fired him without asking any questions."
Zhong Zhidong is innocent, "I didn't..."
"Don't even think about denying it. Many people in the factory know that you fired Lu Jiefang."
Zhong Zhiping didn't give him a chance to argue, and pointed to the crowd at the door, saying, "They definitely know."
Jiang Haishan and Zhong Zhidong turned to look at the crowd at the door, and everyone nodded in unison, "Mhm!"
Zhong Zhidong was so angry he almost fell over backwards.
Jiang Haishan withdrew his gaze, gave Zhong Zhidong a meaningful look, and chuckled inwardly, thinking, "He really brought this on himself."
"Not only that, he also spread rumors to ruin Comrade Lu Jiefang's reputation, saying that he broke off his engagement with his daughter because of me. In all honesty, we only met when I asked Comrade Lu Jiefang to drive me to the county hospital in a tractor. But before that, they had already broken off their engagement. It had nothing to do with me."
