One week later.
Lu Guoqing did indeed return, causing a stir throughout the village.
He was dressed the same as he did at the Pengcheng Wharf: a shirt, tie, trousers, and leather shoes; his slicked-back hair was so thick that a mosquito could do a split on it; and he carried a leather bag the size of a brick under his arm.
However, this time he was wearing sunglasses, which looked a bit out of place with his tie and trousers.
He had a briefcase tucked under one arm and a glamorous woman on his arm with the other, with two assistants carrying bags behind him.
The woman wore a red sleeveless blouse and a knee-length pencil skirt. She had wavy hair and was wearing makeup, looking very fashionable.
To be honest, her looks are average, but her trendy outfit makes up for it, boosting her appearance by two degrees. At first glance, she's quite pretty.
Even though she dressed maturely, her face didn't look very old, around twenty-four or twenty-five years old.
The villagers had never seen anyone dressed like this before; it looked very stylish, and they couldn't help but take a second look.
But I only glanced at it a couple of times.
At first, no one recognized Lu Guoqing. They thought it was another rich person coming to the village to find Lu Yuan, so they all greeted him with smiles and enthusiasm.
Lu Guoqing took off his sunglasses, raised his chin, and turned his nose up.
Everyone felt he looked familiar.
"You are... Lu Guoqing?"
Someone called out his name, and everyone else recognized him.
"Oh my, it really is Lu Guoqing."
Lu Guoqing raised his slick head even higher, straightened his back, and his eyes were full of smugness.
Just as he was about to speak, he saw the smiling crowd suddenly turn pale, looking at him with disdain as if he were looking at dog shit.
Some people snorted and glared at him.
Some people glared at him with disgust.
Some people turned and ran away. "I went to find A Yuan and asked him to call the commune police station and tell them that the human traffickers had returned and to have the police arrest them immediately."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone else chimed in, "Yes, you hurry up and go find him. We'll keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get away."
Upon hearing this, the people nearby reacted and rushed forward, pulling the woman aside and forcefully pinning Lu Guoqing to the ground.
"Hey, hey, let go! What are you doing? I'm Lu Guoqing!"
"It's Lu Guoqing, that's the one we're arresting."
"Let go, all of you, let go! You bunch of peasants, do you know the consequences of treating me like this?"
"I know, the consequence is that you'll be sent to the fence."
Seeing that no one would listen to reason, Lu Guoqing became anxious and shouted at his two henchmen.
"Help! Help! You two, quickly pull them apart!"
The two henchmen, who were carrying things, were not in a hurry at all. They found a place to put their things down before coming over to pull the person away.
There were many villagers here, and several of them pushed the two apart. They didn't even touch the hem of Lu Guoqing's clothes, let alone pull him away.
"Useless, useless, you two are just useless!" Lu Guoqing roared.
The alluring woman looked like she'd seen a ghost, standing far away, covering her mouth and trembling, seemingly terrified.
It's unclear whether he was frightened by the villagers or by Lu Guoqing's appearance.
Lu Guoqing continued to yell, "Get out of here right now, or you'll regret it!"
The villagers completely ignored him.
Seeing this, he had no choice but to stop for the time being. Shouting like that was too hard on his voice, and after just a few shouts, his throat was already a little uncomfortable.
He just couldn't understand why these people would still be so rude to him, even though he had returned home in glory and was no longer the penniless peasant who earned work points in the fields.
Are they blind or ignorant?
His successful-looking attire didn't even impress the group.
This was completely different from what he had expected.
Shouldn't they fawn over and flatter him when they see themselves like this?
If I'm in a good mood, I might slip ten or eight yuan through my fingers as a reward for them, which would be enough for their expenses for a year.
Back when he was still in Changhe Brigade, his family's expenses throughout the year, unless they bought cloth or other household items like needles, salt, and matches, didn't amount to much money at all.
Spending ten or eight yuan a year is the most you can afford.
If he were to reward them with this money, they would be eternally grateful and would hold him in high esteem.
But what's going on now? He just got back and hadn't even said two words when they started humiliating him.
Even if I wronged that brat Lu Yuan back then, what does it have to do with these people?
Logically speaking, he should be the one who belongs to this village, while Lu Yuan is an outsider. Everyone should help him instead.
Lu Yuan arrived quickly; the messenger ran to find him. He came in a Jeep, and the whole process took no more than fifteen minutes.
Lu Guoqing was forced to kneel on the ground by everyone. He was surprised to see a jeep parked in front of him.
Why did the police arrive so quickly?
But he wasn't afraid. He was now a Hong Kong businessman with a Hong Kong ID card, so even if the police came, they couldn't do anything to him.
Besides, he's coming back as an investor, so he needs to be protected.
But when he saw that the person getting out of the car was Lu Yuan, he was completely dumbfounded.
"How could it be you?"
Ten years have passed, and Lu Yuan's appearance has not changed much. When he is serious, he has a more mature and noble air about him than before, so Lu Guoqing recognized him at a glance.
Lu Yuan strode over to him unhurriedly, looking down at him with a sneer, "What, are you surprised to see me?"
It's really unexpected. I haven't seen him for years, and this bastard is already driving a car. How is that possible?
