Why is Chapter 130 different from what I expected?

Lu Yuan didn't lower his voice intentionally, and with the soundproofing, his words clearly reached Mo Lijuan's ears.

She ran back to her room, lay on the kang (a heated brick bed) and cried for a while before stopping, pondering why Lu Yuan's attitude had suddenly become so hostile.

After thinking it over, the only thing that came to mind was that he had lost the money he had brought for them.

I never expected him to be such a stingy person. The money was clearly given to her by her aunt's family, not his. He clearly earns a decent salary and easily receives a bonus of 200 yuan; he's not short of money. Yet, he treated her coldly over 50 yuan.

Now they don't even invite me to meals.

I've only been here one night. If I were to stay at his place from now on, wouldn't he give me attitude every day? Just thinking about it makes me shudder.

It seems she can no longer stay at their house.

However, the house here is big, and each person has their own room. The room is fully furnished, and there is even a large wardrobe that she didn't have at home. She was a little reluctant to leave this place.

More importantly, the food at their house seemed to be exceptionally good.

Look at her cousin's attitude. Her cousin has always been soft-hearted towards her, and she doesn't believe that her cousin would let him treat her like this. After all, she is her cousin's relative, and treating her badly is a slap in the face to her cousin and makes her lose face.

She figured that Wen Moxue would call her to dinner to save face and say a few kind words. She was confident that as long as Lu Yuan apologized to her, she would be magnanimous and not hold it against him.

But she waited and waited, listening to the noises outside. They had almost finished their breakfast, but no one came to call her to go out for lunch.

Mo Lijuan was no longer upset, but angry.

How could they do this? What kind of hospitality is this? She's a guest from her own family, and they treat her like this? It's outrageous!

After thinking for a moment, she found paper and pen, wrote an IOU, and left the room.

Inside the main room, Lu Yuan and the others had almost finished their breakfast. However, since it was originally made for six people, there was still a bowl of white rice porridge, a boiled egg, and two white steamed buns left.

They finished all the side dishes.

She bit her lip, stepped forward hesitantly, and burst into tears before even speaking.

"Cousin and brother-in-law, I'm so sorry. This is my first time traveling so far, and I had no experience. I never expected to encounter a thief. Not only is the money I brought for you gone, but all my own money is gone too. Otherwise, I would have made sure to replace your money right away, sob sob..."

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Please don't blame me, okay? I'll definitely pay you back later."

She handed over the IOU, knowing that Lu Yuan was a difficult person to deal with, so she handed it to Wen Moxue, assuming that the other party would not accept it.

"This is an IOU I wrote. I'll pay it back slowly as I earn money in the future. Cousin and brother-in-law, please forgive me, okay?"

Lu Yuan and Wen Moxue exchanged a glance and immediately understood each other's meaning.

Wen Moxue took the IOU and looked at it. The amount and reason were written on it. She smiled and put the IOU away.

"Lijuan, we don't really blame you for this. We just didn't expect you to care so much. To avoid making you feel uneasy, I'll accept this IOU. We're not in a hurry for the money. We'll talk about it when you have it."

Mo Lijuan was dumbfounded again. What did this mean? Did they really want her to pay back the money?

Why is it different from what she expected?

But things have come to this point, and it's not easy to change our minds now, so this is the only way.

She forced a smile, her lips twitching slightly. "Thank you, cousin. Have you forgiven me?"

Wen Muxue smiled and said, "I've never blamed you, so how can you talk about forgiving me?"

"That's good. I heard my cousin-in-law yelling at me first thing in the morning, and I thought he was blaming me for losing the money my aunt gave you."

This is a complaint; she thought that since Lu Yuan hadn't mentioned what happened that morning, Wen Moxue had no idea.

She still didn't believe it. She had already said all that, so her cousin would say something to Lu Yuan. If she did, Lu Yuan would definitely be unhappy, and the two of them would probably end up arguing about it.

But the next second, to her surprise, Wen Moxue, who had been smiling, suddenly changed her expression and sternly reprimanded her.

“Lijuan, I’m not trying to criticize you, but you’re not a child anymore. You should be more sensible. Is fire something to joke about? If you don’t know how to start a fire, then don’t start one. Why did you have to bring out the burning firewood? Do you know how dangerous that was? If your cousin-in-law hadn’t been in the kitchen and put out the fire in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable. This big house almost burned down because of your stupidity. I still feel lingering fear when I think about it now.”

After being bombarded with such a long string of accusations, Mo Lijuan was completely stunned. All she did was not know how to start a fire, so how could she be considered ignorant and stupid? And she almost became the villain who set the house on fire?

Isn't this making a mountain out of a molehill?

Her hands were injured, but they didn't even show any concern.

"Waaah, cousin, I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to."

Wen Moxue waved her hand magnanimously, "Alright, I only said a few words to you because I knew you didn't mean it. Don't feel wronged. Water and fire are merciless, and this fire is no joke. You can't do this again like today."

Mo Lijuan was almost furious, but she still looked hesitant and said, "I understand, cousin. I won't do it again."

Seeing her frustrated expression, Wen Moxue felt much better and pointed to the breakfast on the table.

"This was saved for you, so hurry up and eat it. Remember to clean the table and wash the dishes after you're done."

Mo Lijuan felt an urge to flip the table, yet she was still being asked to do chores. Fortunately, a last shred of reason made her realize she couldn't do that, so she reluctantly sat down, pretending to be grateful and saying thank you, and promising to clean everything up.
