Chapter 48 Completion

The morning sunlight, like golden threads, pierced through the thin clouds and gently bathed every corner of the village. The clinic, which had been prepared and built over several weeks, finally appeared in its entirety before the villagers' eyes under the sunlight.

Lin Yue stood in the open space in front of the infirmary, her eyes filled with relief and emotion. She wore a light blue cotton shirt, which was covered in dust after days of hard work, but this did not diminish her joy. Her face was slightly thin from the long hours of labor, but her bright eyes shone brightly, as if they held countless stars. A gentle breeze blew, and a few strands of hair fell from her tied-up bun. She gently tucked them behind her ears, her gaze never leaving the infirmary.

Beside her stood Chen Yu, his posture as upright as a pine tree. He wore a dark, coarse cloth shirt, the outline of his muscles faintly visible beneath the fabric—the marks of his recent hard work. His gaze was deep and warm, looking at the infirmary as if he were looking at a child he had carefully nurtured. A slight smile played on his lips, a satisfied smile that reflected both pride in his achievements and anticipation for the future.

"Yue'er, we really did it," Chen Yu said softly, his voice deep and magnetic, as if it came from the depths of his heart. He turned to look at Lin Yue, his eyes filled with love and tenderness.

Lin Yue nodded slightly, tears welling in her eyes: "Yes, it hasn't been easy along the way. Thanks to everyone's help." Her voice choked with emotion as she recalled the scenes of the villagers working together to move materials and build houses, each image filling her with gratitude.

At this moment, the villagers also gathered around. The uncle who had been helping out all along walked ahead with steady steps. His face was full of smiles, a smile as bright as the sun, and joy was hidden in every wrinkle. "This clinic is really beautiful! It's even better than I imagined!" the uncle said loudly, his rough hands constantly stroking it, his eyes showing admiration for the clinic.

A young man excitedly ran around the infirmary, his eyes sparkling as if he had discovered a treasure. "Wow, this wall is really sturdy! Now we'll have a place to get treatment when we're sick!" he exclaimed, tapping the wall to feel its solidity.

The female villagers gathered together, their eyes filled with pride as they looked at the windows decorated with curtains they had made themselves. The curtains swayed gently in the breeze, their brightly colored fabric adding a touch of warmth to the clinic. A young woman smiled and said, "These curtains have brought the clinic to life. We really have to thank Lin Yue; it was her idea that gave us such a wonderful place." The other women nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with respect for Lin Yue.

Hearing everyone's praise, Lin Yue smiled somewhat shyly: "This is all thanks to everyone. Without everyone's joint efforts, this clinic could not have been built." Her gaze swept over each villager, her eyes filled with gratitude.

Then, everyone went into the infirmary. The room was filled with the smell of fresh wood and lime—a scent of new life. Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting dappled patterns on the floor. The walls were painted a pristine white, and the roof beams were sturdy and neat. In one corner of the room were several simple beds, covered with clean, tidy sheets sewn stitch by stitch by the village women. Beside each bed was a small cabinet for the patients' belongings.

On the other side of the room was a small treatment area with a table and a chair; this would be where the doctor would see the villagers. The table held some basic medical equipment; simple, yet it embodied the villagers' hopes for health. Lin Yue walked to the treatment area, gently stroking the table, her thoughts drifting. She knew this was just the beginning; much work remained to be done.

Chen Yu watched Lin Yue from the side; he knew what she was thinking. He walked over and gently took Lin Yue's hand: "Yue'er, don't worry. We'll take it one step at a time, and get this place sorted out first." His gaze gave Lin Yue strength, bringing her back to her senses from her brief reverie.

“Okay, let’s organize the medicines and equipment first,” Lin Yue said. She opened a box she had brought back from town, which contained some collected medicines and simple medical equipment. She carefully took out the medicines and neatly arranged them in the cabinet according to their type. With each bottle of medicine she picked up, her eyes were incredibly focused, and she recited the medicine’s effects and usage instructions, as if she were handling an extremely precious treasure.

A former educated youth helped place the stethoscope, thermometer, and other instruments on the examination table. He wore glasses, his eyes showing seriousness: "These instruments may not be many, but they can solve a lot of problems. We must take good care of them." He gently picked up the stethoscope and wiped away the dust, his movements gentle and meticulous.

While organizing medicines and equipment, Lin Yue explained some basic medical knowledge to the villagers. She picked up a bottle of fever reducer and said, "This is a fever reducer. If any villager has a fever, and their temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees Celsius, they can take this medicine. But be careful with the dosage; the dosage varies depending on age." As she spoke, she looked into the villagers' eyes to make sure they understood. The villagers listened attentively, nodding occasionally, their eyes filled with a thirst for new knowledge.

Just then, the village chief walked in. He was a burly man with a serious face, but today his eyes also shone with joy. "Thank you all for your hard work! The completion of this clinic is a great event for our village. It will be much more convenient for everyone to see a doctor in the future." The village chief's voice was loud and clear, echoing in the clinic. He walked to the bedside, touched the sheets, and nodded with satisfaction: "These details have been handled very well; this is all thanks to everyone's efforts."
