Chapter 51 New Member Report

The morning light filtered through the mottled window paper, dappling the simple yet cozy bed inside. Lin Yue lay quietly on the bed, her hand gently resting on her swollen belly, feeling the slightest movement of the new life within her. A smile unconsciously crept onto her lips, her eyes filled with the tenderness and anticipation of soon-to-be mother. Although her growing weight had made movement increasingly difficult, her heart was overflowing with sweetness.

Lin Yue wore a loose-fitting light blue cotton blouse, meticulously sewn by herself with fine stitches. The small flowers embroidered at the collar, though faded, still exuded an elegant charm. The cuffs were slightly rolled up, revealing her slender yet slightly swollen wrists. She wore black trousers, the cuffs neatly tucked into black cloth shoes. Her hair was casually scattered on the pillow, a few strands damp with sweat clinging to her cheeks, further emphasizing her languid and gentle demeanor. She slightly opened her eyes, her gaze falling on the corner of the room where piled baby clothes and diapers were prepared. These were all made by her and Chen Yu in their spare time, each stitch woven with their love for their child.

Chen Yu gently pushed open the door and carried in a bowl of steaming millet porridge. His movements were very light, as if afraid of disturbing Lin Yue's rest. Seeing that Lin Yue was awake, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, followed by a warm smile. "Yue'er, you're awake? How are you feeling? Did you notice the little one was more mischievous today?" Chen Yu asked softly, his voice deep and gentle, like a mountain stream flowing into Lin Yue's heart. He placed the porridge on the bedside table, walked to Lin Yue's side, and carefully sat down on the edge of the bed, his eyes full of concern.

Chen Yu wore a simple white shirt, the collar slightly open, revealing his bronze skin. The sleeves were rolled up, exposing his strong, muscular forearms, the lines of which appeared particularly rugged in the sunlight. His face was tanned dark by the sun, and his deep eyes, like the brightest stars in the night sky, were focused intently on Lin Yue. His hair was slightly disheveled, a result of a busy morning, but this did not detract from his handsome and capable appearance.

Lin Yue turned her head slightly to look at Chen Yu, her eyes filled with love. "I feel pretty good, it's just that he seems to be getting more and more restless," she said with a smile, her tone slightly reproachful, as if complaining about the child's mischief, but actually expressing her delight at the child's vitality. She took Chen Yu's hand and placed it on her abdomen, letting him feel the baby's movements. When Chen Yu's hand touched her belly, the baby seemed to sense its father's presence and kicked gently. Chen Yu's face instantly lit up with surprise and excitement; his eyes shone like a child who had received the most precious gift. "He's so strong! He's definitely a healthy little one," Chen Yu said with a smile, tears glistening in his eyes. He leaned down and gently kissed Lin Yue's forehead, a kiss filled with his deep affection for her and his anticipation for the new life to come.

The days passed slowly in this sweet anticipation, and Lin Yue's due date drew ever closer. The entire village seemed to be busy preparing for the new life about to be born. Women from the village came one after another, bringing their experience and blessings. Aunt Liu stayed at Lin Yue's house almost every day, like a guardian angel, carefully guiding Chen Yu in preparing all the necessary items for childbirth.

"Chen Yu, make sure to prepare thick diapers. The baby's skin is delicate after birth, we can't make him uncomfortable. And make sure there's hot water readily available; it'll be essential during delivery." Aunt Liu said as she busily tidied things up. Her eyes were focused and attentive, every movement revealing her professionalism and care for the mother and child. Aunt Liu was a renowned midwife in the village; she had witnessed countless such scenes. Every newborn's birth was a miracle in her eyes, and she always treated each delivery with reverence.

Chen Yu listened attentively to Aunt Liu's words. A hint of nervousness flickered in his eyes, but more so, determination. He knew how important the birth of this child was to him and Lin Yue, and he couldn't afford to be careless. "Aunt Liu, don't worry, I remember everything. I will definitely not let anything happen to Yue'er and the baby," Chen Yu said, his voice steady and strong, giving off a reliable feeling.

However, on a peaceful night, a sudden pain shattered the tranquility. Lin Yue was resting in bed when a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. She gripped the sheets tightly, and beads of sweat instantly appeared on her forehead. "Chen Yu... the baby... the baby is coming out," Lin Yue said through gritted teeth, her voice trembling with pain, but her eyes shone with a maternal resilience. She knew this moment had finally arrived, and no matter how painful it was, she would welcome her child.

Chen Yu, who had been dozing in the next room, jumped out of bed and rushed to Lin Yue's room upon hearing her cries. His heart was in his throat. He frantically turned on the light and, seeing Lin Yue's pained expression, his heart ached as if being torn apart. "Yue'er, don't be afraid, I'm here. I'll go call Aunt Liu right now," Chen Yu said as he rushed towards the door. His hurried, frantic steps echoed far and wide in the quiet night.

Aunt Liu was fast asleep at home when she was suddenly awakened by a knock on the door. She sat bolt upright in bed, a premonition rising within her that Lin Yue was about to give birth. She quickly dressed, grabbed the birthing tools she had prepared, and rushed to Lin Yue's house. When she arrived, she saw Lin Yue lying in bed in pain. She immediately calmed herself and went to Lin Yue's side. "Lin Yue, don't be afraid, Auntie's here. Try the breathing techniques I taught you before, take deep breaths, yes, like that." Aunt Liu held Lin Yue's hand, gently comforting her. Her gaze was calm and resolute, a look that seemed to possess a magical power, gradually calming Lin Yue's initially panicked heart.
