As usual, the morning sun shone on the quiet little village, illuminating the roof tiles and casting wisps of smoke from the chimneys with a hazy beauty. Lin Yue and Chen Yu got up early; the child was still asleep, his adorable little face flushed with a faint blush, his lips slightly upturned, as if he were having a sweet dream. Lin Yue gently tucked the blanket around the child, her eyes full of love, and then she and Chen Yu tiptoed out of the room.
Lin Yue wore a light blue coarse cloth blouse with a few small patches, but this did not detract from her dignified appearance. Her hair was simply tied in a ponytail, with a few strands falling beside her cheeks, adding to her gentle charm. Her eyes held a deep affection for her family and a passion for life. Chen Yu, on the other hand, wore a dark, old shirt with the cuffs slightly rolled up, revealing his strong forearms. His face was tanned a healthy wheat color by the sun, his deep eyes conveying composure and determination, and a gentle smile always played on his lips, showing his optimism about life.
The two went to the yard and began their busy day. Chen Yu was tidying up the farm tools, preparing to go to the fields to check on the crops, while Lin Yue was sweeping the yard, occasionally looking up at the distant fields, her thoughts drifting. Lately, their child's growth had occupied most of their attention, but as members of the village, they also kept a close eye on its development.
Just then, a commotion suddenly erupted at the village entrance. Lin Yue and Chen Yu exchanged a glance, both looking puzzled. "Let's go see what's going on," Chen Yu said, putting down his farm tools and heading towards the village entrance, with Lin Yue following closely behind.
Upon reaching the village entrance, they saw a group of strangers standing there, surrounded by a number of villagers. These strangers were dressed quite differently from the villagers; their clothes were much neater and more polished. One of them, seemingly the leader, wore a sharp Zhongshan suit and glasses, and appeared to be a refined gentleman. He was holding a notebook and talking to the village chief, his face beaming with excitement.
When the village chief saw Lin Yue and Chen Yu arrive, he waved and said, "Lin Yue, Chen Yu, you've come. These are comrades from the city who said they're here to inspect our village." The village chief's eyes showed both doubt and anticipation.
The man in the Zhongshan suit walked up with a smile and extended his hand to Lin Yue and Chen Yu: "Hello, I am Li Jianguo. We are from an agricultural survey team. We are here because we discovered a unique crop in your village that we believe has great commercial value and would like to discuss cooperation with the village." His voice was loud and confident, and his eyes gleamed with a keen insight into business opportunities.
Lin Yue and Chen Yu were somewhat surprised. They had lived in this village for so long and had never heard of any special crop with commercial value. Lin Yue asked curiously, "Comrade Li, what kind of crop is it?" Her eyes were full of doubt, but also a hint of excitement, after all, this could be a great opportunity for the village's development.
Li Jianguo smiled, took a dried leaf from his notebook, and handed it to Lin Yue: "This is it. We found it on a nearby mountain. After preliminary identification, it may be a rare medicinal plant. If it can be cultivated and developed on a large scale, it will greatly help the medical field, and its economic value is immeasurable." As he spoke, he observed the reactions of Lin Yue and the surrounding villagers.
Lin Yue took the leaf and examined it carefully. Her brows furrowed slightly as she quickly searched her mind for the medical knowledge she had acquired. The leaf looked somewhat familiar, but she wasn't sure. "I think I've seen this kind of leaf before, but I need to go back and check the records to confirm," Lin Yue said, her eyes becoming serious. She knew this matter couldn't be taken lightly; if it truly was a precious medicinal plant, it would be of great significance to the village and the medical field.
Chen Yu watched from the sidelines, feeling a surge of excitement. He considered the village's current situation; if this business opportunity materialized, the village's living conditions would undoubtedly improve significantly, and the children would have a better environment to grow up in. However, he also had some concerns, as this was a major undertaking, and many problems might arise during the cooperation process. "Comrade Li, how exactly will this cooperation work? Our village doesn't have much experience," Chen Yu asked Li Jianguo earnestly.
Li Jianguo smiled and began to explain in detail: "Our idea is that we will provide technical and financial support to help the village establish a planting base and train the villagers to grow this crop. After the harvest, we will be responsible for purchasing and selling the produce, and the profits will be shared according to a certain ratio. Of course, in this process, we will fully respect the village's opinions and protect the interests of the villagers." He spoke eloquently, his eyes full of sincerity.
Upon hearing this, the villagers began to discuss it animatedly. Some villagers excitedly said, "This is great news! Our village is going to get rich!" Others were somewhat worried: "Is this reliable? We don't want to be scammed." Their expressions varied, some were expectant, some were doubtful, and some were excited.
Lin Yue and Chen Yu fell into deep thought. Lin Yue considered the medical possibilities; if this plant truly had medicinal value, it could not only bring wealth to the village but also provide new medicinal resources for the healthcare system. However, she also worried about the risks involved in the collaboration, such as inadequate planting techniques leading to crop damage, or the plant being exploited, leaving the villagers without their due benefits. Chen Yu, on the other hand, considered the villagers' lives and the village's long-term development. He knew this was a rare opportunity, but he couldn't blindly agree.
At this moment, the village chief stepped forward and said, "Comrade Li, this is a big matter, we need to discuss it. You should stay in the village first, and we'll study it carefully." The village chief's expression was serious; he knew that he bore the fate of the entire village on his shoulders and could not make a hasty decision.
