Chapter 55 Negotiation

Mr. Zhao remained silent for a moment, weighing the pros and cons in his mind. He knew the value of this new crop, and if they couldn't agree on a price, he might lose this rare business opportunity. But he didn't want to give in easily, as profit was his primary concern. He glanced at his assistant, who nodded slightly, seemingly giving him a hint. "Comrade Lin, raising the price by such a large margin is indeed difficult. However, considering our sincerity in cooperating, I can consider raising it slightly to [X + Z] yuan per jin," Mr. Zhao said, a hint of reluctance in his eyes, as if he had already made a significant concession.

Lin Yue and Chen Yu exchanged a glance. They knew the price was still not ideal, but they also saw that Boss Zhao had some room for negotiation. Lin Yue thought for a moment and decided to continue the negotiation from a different angle: "Boss Zhao, besides the price, we also need to clarify the sales channels. We hope to participate in the supervision of the sales process to ensure that our crops can be sold at a good price, rather than being arbitrarily driven down." Her eyes were focused on Boss Zhao, trying to judge his attitude from his expression.

Mr. Zhao frowned, somewhat hesitant. Sales channels were one of their company's core competitive advantages, and he was reluctant to involve the villagers too much. "Comrade Lin," Mr. Zhao said, his tone carrying an undeniable air, "the sales channels are our company's responsibility. We have a professional team and a well-established network. However, we can regularly report sales progress to the village to put everyone at ease."

Chen Yu, who had been listening for a while, couldn't stand it any longer. He said in a serious tone, "Boss Zhao, we're not trying to interfere with your sales work, but this concerns the vital interests of our villagers. We just want a certain right to know and a right to supervise, which isn't unreasonable." His eyes were firm, and his hands were clenched into fists and placed on the table, showing his tough attitude.

Looking at Chen Yu, Boss Zhao sensed his determination. He knew that if they couldn't reach an agreement on this issue, the negotiations might stall. He thought for a moment, then smiled and said, "Alright, we can establish a joint oversight group, composed of representatives from both sides, to jointly supervise the sales process. But the group's scope of authority needs to be clearly defined, and it shouldn't interfere with our normal sales operations." His eyes revealed a hint of helplessness, but also a degree of compromise.

Negotiations continued, and the two sides engaged in heated discussions on other issues, such as the cost of technical support during the planting process, crop quality standards, and harvest scheduling. Each issue involved the interests of both parties, and neither was willing to easily concede.

Lin Yue felt somewhat exhausted; the pressure of the negotiations had brought beads of sweat to her forehead. But she persevered. She knew she couldn't give up; this was for the village, for the villagers' future. She looked at Boss Zhao, silently considering a solution. Suddenly, a new question occurred to her: "Boss Zhao, we also need to clarify the issue of risk-sharing regarding market fluctuations. If market prices fall, we can't let the villagers bear the losses alone." A glint flashed in her eyes; she knew this issue was crucial.

Mr. Zhao was slightly taken aback; he hadn't expected Lin Yue to raise this question. After a moment's thought, he replied, "We can establish a price adjustment mechanism to adjust the acquisition price within a certain range based on market price fluctuations. However, this range needs to be set reasonably to avoid placing excessive risk on our company." A hint of caution flickered in his eyes; this issue was also very important to him.

As the discussion deepened, the differences between the two sides gradually narrowed, but heated debates remained on some key issues. Time slipped away quietly in the tense negotiations, and before they knew it, evening had arrived. The afterglow of the setting sun shone through the windows into the conference room, bathing everyone in a golden hue.

Looking at the setting sun outside the window, Lin Yue felt a complex mix of emotions. She hoped that the negotiations would reach a satisfactory conclusion as soon as possible, allowing the village to seize this development opportunity. She took a deep breath and refocused on the negotiations: "Mr. Zhao, let's talk about profit sharing again. The current plan isn't fair to us villagers. We bear the risks of planting, so we should have a larger share of the profits." Her tone was firm, and her eyes revealed an unwavering determination.

Mr. Zhao frowned. He knew that profit sharing was a sensitive and crucial issue. His team's original proposal favored their company, given their investment in technology, capital, and sales. However, he also understood that if the villagers weren't satisfied, the cooperation might fall through. "Comrade Lin, we've provided technical and financial support, which is a significant investment. However, we can renegotiate the profit-sharing ratio," Mr. Zhao said, a hint of helplessness in his voice.

The negotiations reached another stalemate, with neither side willing to compromise on the issue of profit sharing. Lin Yue knew this was a difficult game, and she couldn't easily give in. She looked at Boss Zhao, her eyes filled with determination: "Boss Zhao, we hope to draft a new profit-sharing plan that better protects the interests of both parties. We can allocate profits reasonably based on our respective investments and risk-bearing." Her clear and resonant voice echoed in the conference room.

Boss Zhao remained silent for a moment, his gaze shifting between Lin Yue and his assistant. He knew that to reach a cooperation agreement, he had to make concessions on this issue. After thinking for a long time, he finally spoke, "Alright, we can revise the profit-sharing plan, but this will require some time for calculation and negotiation. Let's end the negotiations here for today. We should all go back and think it over carefully, and continue tomorrow." His tone was somewhat weary; the intensity of this negotiation had exceeded his expectations.
