Lin Yue and Chen Yu stood at the doorway, gazing at the lively scene before them, their hearts filled with emotion and joy. Lin Yue wore a light purple dress, the hem fluttering in the wind, mirroring her jubilant mood. A happy smile graced her face, and tears welled in her eyes. Chen Yu, dressed in a crisp white shirt, looked exceptionally sharp. He stood beside Lin Yue, his eyes brimming with pride.
Lin Yue took a few steps forward and stood before the villagers, her voice trembling with excitement. "Fellow villagers," she said, "today is a milestone day for our village. Our library and cultural activity room are completed! This is the result of everyone's hard work and love. This will be our hall of knowledge and joy. I hope everyone will make good use of it, filling our village with a cultural atmosphere and enriching our lives!" Lin Yue's words were like a warm spring breeze, blowing into the hearts of every villager. The villagers erupted in enthusiastic applause and cheers, the sounds echoing through the village for a long time.
Stepping into the library is like entering a treasure trove of knowledge. Sunlight streams through the windows, illuminating rows of bookshelves filled with all sorts of books—some new, some old—each carrying the weight of knowledge. The selection is vast: fairy tales and science books for children, agricultural technology books, literary classics, historical biographies, and more. Children eagerly rush to the shelves, their little hands searching frantically for their favorites. A little boy picks up a copy of *The Little Prince*, his eyes shining, and excitedly tells his friend, "I've wanted to read this book for so long!" He then finds a quiet corner and begins to read with great relish.
The cultural activity room was also bustling with activity. The walls of the exhibition area were covered with old photographs collected by the villagers, traditional farming tools, and handicrafts. These exhibits showcased the village's historical changes and unique cultural charm, allowing villagers to appreciate the sights and feel the warmth of their hometown. Tables and chairs were placed in the center of the room, where villagers could exchange ideas and learn together. A small stage was also set up on the other side, where future cultural events could be held.
A young mother, holding her child, strolled among the bookshelves. Pointing to the books, she said to her child, "Sweetie, look, there are so many books here. When you grow up, you can learn here and become smarter." The child blinked his big eyes, looking around curiously, as if he had been captivated by this magical place.
The elderly sat in front of the exhibition area, looking at the familiar old photos, reminiscing about the past, and their faces showed a contented smile. "This photo is a harvest scene from our youth. Everyone was so happy back then," one old man said, pointing to a yellowed photo.
The young people sat around the table, discussing the newly arrived books and magazines. "This book about the internet is really interesting. The world is developing so fast; we have to keep up!" one young man said excitedly, holding the book. Another young man replied, "Yes, we can see if we can apply some of the ideas in it to the development of our village."
Lin Yue weaved through the crowd, her face always beaming with a smile. She spotted an elderly woman, rarely seen outside, wearing reading glasses and intently reading a health book. She approached her and asked, "Grandma, what do you think of this place?" The old woman looked up, her eyes sparkling. "It's wonderful! This is wonderful! I never imagined I'd find a place like this to read. These books are treasures!" The old woman's words deeply moved Lin Yue. She knew this was the true meaning behind their library and activity room.
In the days that followed, the library and cultural activity room became an indispensable part of the villagers' lives. Every morning, as the first rays of sunlight shone on the village, villagers began to arrive at the library. Some would sit in a quiet corner, immersing themselves in the world of books and absorbing knowledge; others would linger in front of the bookshelves, searching for a book that suited them, their eyes filled with a thirst for knowledge.
As evening falls, villagers who have worked all day gather in the cultural activity room. It becomes a haven for relaxation and intellectual exchange. Women admire old photographs and handicrafts in the exhibition area, sharing their techniques and experiences. Children, after finishing their homework, play games or listen to stories told by the elders. These ancient legends and tales plant seeds of culture in the children's hearts, deepening their understanding and love for their hometown's culture.
Lin Yue often visits the library to help the librarian organize the books. She meticulously arranges each book according to its category and adjusts their placement based on the villagers' reading needs. She also spends time talking with the villagers to understand their reading experiences and requirements. Once, she saw a somewhat mischievous little boy sitting in a corner, engrossed in a popular science book about plants. Lin Yue walked over, gently sat down beside him, and asked with a smile, "Do you like this book?" The little boy looked up, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Sister Lin Yue, this book is so interesting! I never knew plants had so many secrets. I want to be like those scientists when I grow up, studying plants and growing more and better things!" The little boy's voice was full of longing. Lin Yue smiled and patted his head, saying, "Then you must study hard! There's a lot of knowledge in the book that can help you achieve this dream." The little boy nodded vigorously and became absorbed in the book again.
