Chapter 72 The Arrival of Medical Aid

Thanks to Lin Yue's tireless efforts and the villagers' anticipation, the light of medical aid finally shone upon this small village. It was a bright and sunny morning; the sky was like a piece of azure silk, without a single impurity. The old locust tree at the village entrance swayed gently in the breeze, as if conveying the good news that was about to arrive to the villagers.

Lin Yue arrived at the village entrance early, her eyes brimming with barely suppressed excitement and anticipation. She wore a simple light blue top, her long black hair neatly tied back, a few stray strands of hair glistening with sweat. She kept peering down the path outside the village, silently praying that the medical aid team would arrive safely. "So much effort, finally we're going to see results. I hope this aid will truly change the village's medical situation," she murmured to herself, her hands unconsciously clenching and unclenching.

The villagers arrived at the village entrance one after another, all filled with anticipation. A-Qiang, carrying a hoe, had just come from the fields; his sturdy frame stood out in the crowd. "Lin Yue, do you think they'll really come? Will the doctors who come this time be able to cure my mother's illness?" A-Qiang asked with a worried expression, his brow furrowed, his eyes filled with concern for his mother's condition. Lin Yue nodded firmly, patted A-Qiang on the shoulder, and said, "They definitely will, A-Qiang. The medical team that came this time is very professional; we must have confidence." Hearing Lin Yue's words, a glimmer of hope flashed in A-Qiang's eyes, and his grip on the hoe loosened slightly.

The village elders, supporting each other, arrived at the village entrance, their eyes filled with both anticipation and a hint of doubt. Grandma Wang squinted at the village entrance and said to Grandpa Li beside her, "Will a doctor really come to our little village? It would be wonderful if he could cure my old ailment." Grandpa Li smiled and reassured her, "Don't worry, Old Wang. Lin Yue is a reliable young woman; let's just wait."

Just as everyone was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the vehicles, the roar of a car engine could be heard in the distance. A white medical vehicle slowly drove into the village, its side emblazoned with a large red cross. As soon as the vehicle came to a stop, the door opened, and a group of medical volunteers in white coats stepped out. Each of them wore a gentle smile, their eyes filled with warmth and friendliness.

Leading the group was a middle-aged doctor named Zhang Feng. He was tall and wiry, with a kind face and black-rimmed glasses; behind the lenses, his eyes gleamed with intelligence. As soon as he got out of the car, he looked around the village, a hint of seriousness in his eyes. "The medical conditions here are indeed very difficult; we must get started as soon as possible," he said softly to his colleague beside him, his voice steady and firm.

Lin Yue hurried forward, her face beaming with excitement. "Dr. Zhang, you've finally arrived! Our whole village has been waiting for you!" Lin Yue extended her hand and shook hands firmly with Zhang Feng. Zhang Feng looked at Lin Yue, his eyes full of admiration. "Comrade Lin Yue, you've done so much for the village. We've brought a lot of medicine and equipment this time; we'll definitely do our best to help everyone."

Medical volunteers began unloading medical supplies from the vehicle, and villagers rushed to help. A-Qiang, strong as he was, carried two boxes of medicine at once. He grinned and said to the volunteers, "Thank you for your hard work, I'll do these!" The volunteers smiled and thanked him. For a moment, the village entrance was filled with a busy yet harmonious atmosphere.

At the village's makeshift medical station, medical volunteers quickly began setting up. They arranged treatment beds and medical equipment, and sorted and organized the medicines. A young female volunteer named Xiaoyan was setting up medicines while talking to her colleague. "The villagers here seem very kind and honest; we must do our best to help them," she said. Her eyes were filled with compassion and determination, and her small lips were slightly pursed, revealing two adorable dimples.

After setting up the medical station, the medical volunteers began providing medical care to the villagers. The villagers lined up, waiting in an orderly fashion. Dr. Zhang Feng sat at the examination table, carefully examining each villager. When an elderly man walked shakily to him, Zhang Feng quickly stood up and helped him sit down. "Grandpa, where does it hurt?" he asked softly, his eyes full of concern. The old man slowly said, "My legs hurt terribly when it rains." Zhang Feng carefully examined the old man's legs, his brow furrowing and relaxing at times. After the examination, he smiled and said to the old man, "Grandpa, you have arthritis. We'll prescribe some medicine for you. Remember to keep warm and try not to let your legs get cold." The old man gratefully grasped Zhang Feng's hand, repeatedly saying thank you.

On the other side, a young mother brought her sick child to the doctor. The child's face was flushed from the fever, and his eyes were somewhat unfocused. The mother looked anxious, tears welling in her eyes. Seeing this, Xiaoyan quickly went over and gently touched the child's forehead. "Don't worry, we'll make your baby better," she said softly to the mother, then used a thermometer to take the child's temperature. After taking the temperature, she told the mother, "The child's fever is a bit high; we'll give him a fever-reducing injection first, and then prescribe some medicine." Watching Xiaoyan's skillful actions, the mother's worry lessened slightly.

During the consultations, the medical volunteers not only treated the villagers but also carefully explained basic medical knowledge to them. One volunteer held up a simple anatomical model and explained the location and function of human organs to the villagers gathered around. "Look, this is our heart. It's like a pump, pumping blood into our body. If we feel palpitations or chest tightness, it might be a heart problem, and we should get it checked out promptly." The villagers listened attentively, and the volunteers patiently answered their questions.
