During the treatment, the villagers watched anxiously. The entire house was so quiet that only Grandpa Liu's faint breathing and Lin Yue's slight movements could be heard. Time passed slowly, and Grandpa Liu's condition finally showed significant improvement. His breathing became steady and strong, his complexion gradually returned to normal, and he even slightly opened his eyes.
"He's awake! Grandpa Liu is awake!" someone shouted from the crowd. The villagers all showed expressions of surprise and joy, looking at Lin Yue in disbelief, their eyes filled with admiration and gratitude.
"Lin Yue, thank you so much! You saved Grandpa Liu's life!" Aunt Liu held Lin Yue's hand, her eyes brimming with tears of emotion.
Lin Yue wiped the sweat from her forehead and said with a smile, "It's nothing, Aunt Liu, it's what I should do."
However, the matter did not end there. Although Grandpa Liu was saved, Lin Yue's treatment methods still caused concern among some conservative villagers. They felt that Lin Yue's behavior was a challenge to tradition and worried that it would have negative consequences.
"She was lucky this time, but what if something goes wrong next time?"
"Who knows if her strange stuff has any side effects?"
These doubts quietly spread through the village, bringing new troubles to Lin Yue. She knew that she still had a long way to go before she could truly use her medical skills to help everyone in the village. But she did not regret her choice; she believed that as long as she could cure the patients, time would prove everything.
Back home, Lin Yue sat wearily in a chair. Chen Yu came over and gently massaged her shoulders: "You're too tired today. Don't take those words to heart. I know you're right."
Lin Yue grasped Chen Yu's hand and said gratefully, "Thank you, Chen Yu. Without your and Captain Li's support, I really don't know what I would have done."
“We’re husband and wife, of course I’ll support you. And I trust your medical skills; you’re doing this for everyone’s good.” Chen Yu looked at Lin Yue, his eyes filled with love.
Lin Yue leaned against Chen Yu's chest, a warm feeling welling up inside her. In this challenging era, with Chen Yu by her side, she felt she had the courage to face any difficulty. But she also knew that more problems awaited them in the future, whether it was the villagers' doubts or the harsh living conditions, they would need to overcome them together.
The next day, Lin Yue went out as usual, and she noticed that the villagers' gazes towards her had become more complicated. Some were filled with gratitude and greeted her warmly; but others pointed and whispered behind her back. Lin Yue ignored them and went straight to Grandpa Liu's house to check on his recovery.
Grandpa Liu was able to sit up. When he saw Lin Yue arrive, he smiled and said, "Lin Yue, you are truly my savior. I thought I was going to die here, but you saved me."
Lin Yue smiled and said, "Uncle Liu, you're still feeling weak, so you need to rest more. You also need to pay attention to your diet these next few days. I'll write you a list so your family can follow it."
Grandpa Liu nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay, I'll do whatever you say."
During her conversation with Grandpa Liu, Lin Yue sensed the villagers' reverence for life and their yearning for health. She knew how important her medical skills were to this village, and she couldn't give up because of some skepticism. She decided to work even harder to get the villagers to accept her treatment methods and bring more health and hope to everyone.
However, just as Lin Yue was about to leave Grandpa Liu's house, an unexpected person appeared. A respected elder from the village walked in, looking at Lin Yue with a serious expression: "Young lady, although your actions yesterday saved Grandpa Liu, they also caused quite a stir. Our village has its own rules and traditions. We don't understand your medical skills, and we dare not easily accept them. I hope you will not use those strange methods to treat illnesses in the future, otherwise we will have to ask you to leave this village."
Lin Yue's heart sank; she hadn't expected things to develop this way. Looking into the old man's resolute eyes, she knew she faced a tremendous challenge. She took a deep breath and said, "Grandpa, I understand your concerns, but my medical skills truly can heal and save lives. I don't want to see people suffer because of illness. If we abandon better treatments because of some traditional beliefs, more people will lose their lives."
The old man frowned: "Young lady, we've lived like this for so many years without any major problems. We're not comfortable with your new things."
Lin Yue knew it would be difficult to reason with the old man in a short time, so she decided to prove herself through actions. "Grandpa, I hope you can give me some time to prove that my medical skills are safe and effective. If I can't do it, then you can send me away."
The old man looked at Lin Yue, remained silent for a moment, and then nodded: "Alright, young lady, I'll give you this chance. But you must remember, this is a major event concerning the entire village, and there can be no mistakes."
Lin Yue watched the old man's departing figure, her heart filled with pressure. But she did not back down. She knew this was a challenge she had to face. For her beliefs, for every life in this village, she had to strive to change the villagers' mindsets and allow modern medicine to take root in this village from the 1970s.
