Chapter 50 The Initial Establishment of the Medical System

The soft morning light filtered through the dappled leaves, casting a gentle glow over every corner of the village, bathing this tranquil place in a warm glow. The clinic door was already ajar. Lin Yue stood at the entrance, taking a deep breath, her eyes filled with satisfaction and anticipation. After this period of hard work, the medical assistants had gradually matured, and today, she would work with them to improve the village's healthcare system.

Lin Yue wore a light blue lab coat, which she had specially modified for her work in the clinic. The coat was clean and tidy, with a pen and a small notebook tucked into the pocket—her tools for recording medical information. Her hair was styled in a bun, giving her a neat and professional look. Her eyes were focused and bright, as if a flame was burning within them—a flame of passion for the medical profession and a sense of responsibility for the health of the villagers.

Chen Yu approached, carrying a wooden box filled with some newly collected simple medical tools. "Yue'er, these tools can be used by the assistants, allowing them to learn and practice more effectively," Chen Yu said in a low, gentle voice, his eyes filled with support for Lin Yue. He wore a dark shirt with the cuffs slightly rolled up, revealing his strong forearms. His face was tanned a healthy wheat color by the sun, his features sharp and exuding a composed air.

Lin Yue took the wooden box and smiled, saying, "Thank you, Chen Yu. These tools are so important to us." She opened the box, looked at the tweezers, scissors, and other tools inside, and considered how to distribute them to her assistants so that they could master their use more effectively.

The medical assistants arrived at the infirmary one after another. Xiaoxuan skipped and hopped ahead, wearing a pink top and two braids that swayed with her movements, radiating youthful energy. "Sister Lin Yue, what new knowledge will we learn today?" Xiaoxuan's eyes sparkled, filled with a thirst for new knowledge. She held her notebook in her hand, which was densely filled with notes on the medical content she had learned previously.

Lin Yue smiled and said, "Today we're going to improve our village's medical system. Everyone needs to learn how to make quick and accurate judgments based on a patient's condition and know how to handle the situation." Her clear and loud voice echoed in the clinic, and her assistants listened attentively.

Dazhuang strode in, his burly frame and honest face bearing a hint of seriousness. "Lin Yue, aren't we going to start our practical work? I'm all ready." Dazhuang patted his chest, his voice booming with confidence. He was very confident in his recent studies and hoped to serve the villagers as soon as possible.

Lin Yue nodded and said, "Yes, practice is very important. But before that, we need to go over the process." She walked to a blackboard, picked up a piece of chalk, and began to draw diagrams to explain. "When a patient comes in, we first need to ask about their symptoms, just like we learned before. Then, based on the symptoms, we determine the possible illness, which requires us to consider various factors." As Lin Yue spoke, she wrote down the names and symptom characteristics of some common illnesses on the blackboard.

The assistants sat around the blackboard, intently watching it. Some were taking notes, while others whispered among themselves. One of the older assistants, Uncle Fu, wearing reading glasses, nodded as he read. "Lin Yue, you explain it very clearly. Even we old folks can understand it," Uncle Fu said with a smile, his eyes revealing respect for knowledge and admiration for Lin Yue.

After explaining the procedure, Lin Yue had her assistants practice it. She played the role of a patient, deliberately displaying different symptoms. "I have a headache now, and I feel a bit feverish. What should I do?" Lin Yue said weakly, leaning against the hospital bed.

Xiaoxuan was the first to step forward. She picked up the thermometer and walked to Lin Yue's side. "Sister Lin Yue, let me take your temperature first." Her movements were gentle, and her eyes were focused on the thermometer. After taking the temperature, she said to the other assistants, "Your temperature is a little high. We need to ask Sister Lin Yue if she has any other symptoms."

Da Zhuang then asked, "Lin Yue, where does your headache come from? Is it constant or does it come in waves?" His expression was serious, like that of a real doctor.

After Lin Yue answered, the assistants began to discuss. Some thought it was a cold, while others felt it might be due to other reasons. Based on their knowledge, they offered different diagnostic methods and treatment suggestions. Lin Yue watched from the side, providing guidance and corrections from time to time.

"Everyone's thinking is very clear, but we need to pay attention to some details. For example, if it's a cold, we also need to see if there are other symptoms such as coughing and runny nose, so that we can make a more accurate diagnosis," Lin Yue said earnestly. She hopes that her assistants can continuously improve their abilities through practice.

As the simulations progressed, the assistants became increasingly skilled. They began taking turns playing the role of patients, practicing repeatedly. During this process, some minor problems arose. On one occasion, two assistants disagreed during a diagnosis and almost got into an argument.

“I think it’s gastritis; these symptoms all match,” an assistant said, frowning.

“No, I think it’s cholecystitis. You can’t just look at one symptom,” another assistant countered.

Lin Yue walked over, smiling, and said, "Don't worry, it's good to have different opinions; it shows you're thinking seriously. We can re-examine the symptoms and analyze them again." Her words calmed the two assistants down, and they discussed the matter again, finally reaching a consensus.

After the assistants gradually mastered the diagnostic and treatment methods, Lin Yue began to arrange for them to take turns on duty in the infirmary. Xiaoxuan and Dazhuang were on duty for the first day. They arrived at the infirmary early to prepare to receive potential patients.
