Chapter 57 Having such a dream

Chapter 57 Having such a dream

The next day, it was nearly noon, and sunlight streamed gently through the carved window lattice onto the bed.

Ruan Xingzhu was jolted awake from her sleep by a start. She opened her eyes wide, her beautiful eyes filled with shock, her mind filled with images of her kissing Gu Yun'an.

She looked around, her forehead already covered with tiny beads of sweat, like a thin veil.

He gasped for breath, thankful that it was just a dream.

This dream was utterly absurd, like a ghost, clinging tightly to her, crashing and replaying itself in her mind.

Last night in her dream, everything seemed so chaotic yet so real. She vaguely saw Gu Yun'an slowly approaching, his warm breath brushing against her cheek, and then, his lips gently pressed against hers.

And she, as if possessed, kissed his thin lips, her body seemingly out of control. The scene shifted, and Gu Yun'an's actions became increasingly bold; he was almost about to do something that would make anyone blush.

At that moment, an intense sense of shame surged through her entire body like a tidal wave. Her heart pounded violently, as if it would burst from her chest.

Ruan Xingzhu's mind was in complete turmoil. She turned her head and suddenly realized that she was sleeping on Gu Yun'an's bed. Gu Yun'an must have carried her in last night when he saw her drunk.

For a moment, she felt as if her throat was on fire, extremely thirsty. Ruan Xingzhu quickly threw off the covers, hurriedly got out of bed, and walked unsteadily to the table to pour herself a glass of water.

She tilted her head back and drank it all in one gulp. The cool liquid flowed down her throat, and her sore throat felt much better. Looking at the water in the glass, her eyes were full of confusion and bewilderment.

Why would she have that kind of dream...and the subject was Gu Yun'an...and with Gu Yun'an...

She gently shook her head, trying to shake the thought out of her mind.

As she sat up, Ruan Xingzhu noticed that her clothes were somewhat disheveled at the neckline. She frowned slightly and subconsciously straightened them, assuming it was because she hadn't been sleeping properly.

After tidying her clothes, she mustered her spirits and slowly walked out of Gu Yun'an's room.

To her utter surprise, Gu Yun'an was still at home and had not gone to work.

When her gaze fell upon Gu Yun'an's gentle and refined face, the hazy images from her dream last night instantly played out in her mind like a movie. Her face flushed instantly, like paper on fire, and her body seemed frozen in place, unable to move.

Noticing that someone had come out but stopped halfway, Gu Yun'an lifted his eyelids, his deep eyes looking at her with a gentle gaze, and softly called out, "What are you standing there for? Come and have your meal."

Startled by Gu Yun'an's shout, Ruan Xingzhu trembled violently like a frightened deer. She quickly came to her senses, lowered her head, and walked over in a flustered manner.

Seeing her dazed look, Gu Yun'an assumed it was a side effect of her drinking yesterday and didn't think much of it.

"Fourth Brother." Ruan Xingzhu called out in a soft voice, barely audible, as she approached the table. Her expression was flustered, her eyes darting away, and she dared not look at Gu Yun'an.

When she sat down, she didn't sit next to him affectionately as before, but instead sat a seat away from him, which was unusual for her.

Seeing this, Gu Yun'an glanced at her a few more times, but didn't ask any more questions. He simply picked up some food for her and said in a low voice, "Eat up, these are all your favorites."

Ruan Xingzhu put the food into her mouth, but her heart was pounding. Her mind was filled with the absurd dream from last night, so much so that she didn't even have the courage to look up at Yun'an.

She felt restless, as if there were needles in the chair. She wanted to drink some water to calm herself, but when she reached for the cup, her hand trembled uncontrollably.

The water in the glass spilled over the rim, slid down her chin, and landed on her collar.

Before she could even take out a handkerchief to wipe herself, Gu Yun'an reached out with his large, warm hand and gently wiped her hands.

Ruan Xingzhu's body stiffened instantly at his movement. If it were before, she would not have thought there was anything wrong with Gu Yun'an doing this.

But now, her mind is filled with that absurd dream from last night, which makes her feel flustered and inexplicably guilty.

She looked down and saw his large hand lingering around her collar.

In an instant, the hand wiping away the water stains in her eyes gradually transformed into the hand kneading that soft spot in her dream, and the sore feeling seemed to be right in front of her, so real.

The images in her mind gradually magnified, her pupils suddenly contracted, and a blush instantly spread across her face. In a panic, she abruptly stood up.

Gu Yun'an, who was carefully wiping the item, was taken aback by her sudden action. His dark eyes narrowed as he stared at her, his eyes full of doubt.

Ruan Xingzhu felt as if her heart was about to jump out of her chest, and she realized that her behavior was too abnormal.

She quickly explained, her voice trembling slightly: "Perhaps the wine last night was too intoxicating, my head is still a little dizzy."

As she spoke, she felt that it was indeed not suitable to stay alone with Gu Yun'an any longer today, so she quickly said, "Then I won't keep Fourth Brother from having his meal. I'll go back and rest first."

Without waiting for Gu Yun'an's reply, she turned and left in a hurry.

Seeing her series of unusual actions, Gu Yun'an's eyes were filled with complex emotions, and he already had a guess in his heart.

But he wasn't so much panicked; he was more subtly excited. He'd drunk a glass of strong liquor last night, and he wondered if she remembered what happened afterward.

Actually, he would rather she remember everything clearly than for her to remember nothing at all.

After all, the way she half-closed her eyes and held his lips last night was incredibly alluring, and he was also curious to know how she would react if she knew that she had held his lips in her mouth.

Ruan Xingzhu, who had fled back to the courtyard in a panic, rushed to the basin and washed her face with cold water, trying to cool down the abnormal temperature on her face.

But when she looked down into the water, an image of her kissing Gu Yun'an's lower lip slowly appeared in the water. Her expression froze instantly, as if she had seen a ghost, and she retreated repeatedly.

Her terrified little face was still covered in wet stains, which slid down her cheeks and dripped onto the ground.

What's going on? Why does this dream feel like I've actually experienced it before?

The thought was quickly suppressed by Ruan Xingzhu. She kept telling herself, "It was just a dream, just a dream, it couldn't be reality..."

For several days in a row, she didn't go to Huaiju because of this, and she kept thinking about the time she dreamed of kissing Gu Yun'an.

Whenever she thought about it, her face would involuntarily flush red with shame, as if the dream had happened right before her eyes.

Because my heart is in turmoil, even the breeze seems to carry a hint of restlessness.

I thought Yi Mingyu was just joking when he said he would come to propose marriage, but I didn't expect him to actually do it so soon.

When Madam Cheng saw the marriage proposal gifts blocking the main hall of the mansion, her eyes widened instantly, and her mind went blank for a moment. Her first reaction was that Gu Qingxu and others were trying to deceive her again.

When Gu Qingxu was called to the main hall, her relaxed expression was also taken aback. Her eyes widened. She never expected that Yi Mingyu would actually come to propose marriage, and that he would do so so quickly that she was caught off guard.

"Tell me, what happened?" Madam Cheng frowned, looking at Gu Qingxu with a questioning expression and a scrutinizing gaze.

After Gu Qingxu quickly explained the whole story, Cheng Shi was somewhat surprised. She raised her eyebrows slightly and asked incredulously, "You mean? You've taken a liking to Yi Mingyu?"

Honestly, she believed Gu Qingxu would fall for Yuan Heran, but she didn't believe Gu Qingxu would fall for Yi Mingyu. She looked Gu Qingxu up and down, trying to find a trace of a joke on her face.

But after all, he was the son-in-law she had chosen long ago, so she should be happy that things had developed this way. However, she was still a little puzzled as to why things had progressed so quickly, and couldn't help but look at Yi Mingyu with a questioning gaze, scrutinizing him.

Yi Mingyu felt a little awkward under Cheng's gaze. He lowered his head slightly, then quickly raised it again, his eyes calm.

Finally, Cheng asked, "Tell me how you are fond of Gu Qingsu?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Qingxu was taken aback. A hint of panic flashed in her originally bright eyes. She had never asked Yi Mingyu why he was fond of her.

Hearing Cheng ask the question, her heart inexplicably tightened, and she unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes, waiting for Yi Mingyu's answer.

Yi Mingyu subconsciously looked at Gu Qingxu, feeling somewhat surprised. To be honest, he didn't know why he was so fond of Gu Qingxu.

He frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and said, "Miss Gu is intelligent, upright, honest, and has a wonderful personality..."

Upon hearing this, Cheng Shi's lips twitched. She gave a soft snort. How could she not know that Gu Qing Su had a good personality?

Perhaps only Yi Mingyu could see this.

Yi Mingyu didn't pay attention to Cheng Shi's reaction. He spoke slowly, then paused and looked at Gu Qingxu with deep affection, saying, "I love Miss Gu completely."

As he spoke, he looked at Gu Qingxu, a hint of nervousness in his eyes, and his voice trembled slightly as he repeated, "I like anything that belongs to Miss Gu."

The usually straightforward and frank Gu Qingxu blushed, a rare sight. The blush spread from her cheeks to her ears, and she looked like a shy little girl. She hid behind Cheng Shi for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed.

Seeing this, Madam Cheng was also somewhat surprised. Looking at their reactions, she realized this time it really was for real. A slight smile appeared on her lips, and a hint of satisfaction shone in her eyes.

After all, Yi Mingyu was someone she personally selected. If it weren't for the previous pretense, they probably wouldn't have fallen for each other by chance.
