Chapter 119 Little Beauty

Shen Cang was extremely unhappy to hear this.

He was still hoping that his daughter would marry a good husband, so how could he just marry her off to that pig Guo Xiuran!

To his surprise, Old Madam Shen actually took Shen Yaozu's nonsensical words to heart.

She said thoughtfully, "If we could really become even closer relatives, that would be wonderful."

"Mother!" Shen Cang stood up anxiously, his eyes full of rejection: "There are many ways to repay a debt of gratitude. How can you joke about Qi Yin's lifelong happiness?"

"This is no joke, we're just discussing it."

Shen Cang thought to himself, "If this isn't a joke, then it's even more unacceptable!"

He immediately replied, "I disagree."

Upon hearing this, Guo An's gaze darkened slightly, and his expression turned somewhat unpleasant.

The Shen family owes its current status to him. Now that his grandson has taken a liking to their daughter, it's a favor to them, yet they're making excuses.

What a bunch of ingrates!

In the eyes of Guo An and his grandson, Shen Yaozu was probably the only one with a conscience, because he had always insisted on marrying Shen Qi to Guo Xiuran. He even persuaded Shen Cang, saying, "Father, I think that if you really want to repay a debt of gratitude, you should not look at what you have, but at what others want."

"Now that Cousin Xiuran has fallen in love with Second Sister at first sight, if you disagree, wouldn't people think you're ungrateful and disloyal?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he received a solid slap from Shen Cang.

"You've got some nerve today! If you're so eager to repay this kindness, why don't you get married yourself?"

Shen Cang, unable to vent his anger directly on Guo An, directed it at Shen Yaozu, saying indirectly, "What is Qi Yin's status now? Both Qi Ying Pavilion and the Marquis's Mansion treat her as an honored guest. How dare you interfere in her marriage!"

"You wicked beast, shut up right now!"

Being publicly reprimanded and insulted by Shen Cang, especially with outsiders present, made Shen Yaozu seethe with hatred. He wondered when it had started, but his status in his father's heart had fallen below that of a mere brat like Shen Qiyin.

He looked at Shen Qiyin with a sinister gaze.

That one glance almost made Shen Yaozu faint from anger.

Shen Qiyin put a freshly peeled melon seed into her mouth and chewed it as if nothing was wrong.

With Shen Cang leading the charge, she was naturally happy to watch the spectacle.

However, this incident served as a reminder to Shen Cang. Although he could allow the grandfather and grandson to stay temporarily, he had to get rid of them as soon as possible. Otherwise, if something happened that would be detrimental to Shen Qiyin's reputation, he would suffer a great loss.

After Shen Ruyin and her two concubines, Zhou and Zheng, had their accidents, the Shen family had some spare courtyards, but they were all occupied by women, making it inconvenient for Guo An and his grandson to move in.

Finally, they were only told to live with Shen Yaozu.

When Shen Cang made this arrangement, he was thinking to himself, "You little brat, weren't you always saying you wanted to repay a debt of gratitude? This time, I'll find you two living fathers, so you can repay them to your heart's content."

Shen Yaozu was furious, but he couldn't go against the order, so he blamed Shen Qiyin for the incident.

On this day, Shen Qiyin was seeing patients at Guangrentang as usual when a man of about fifty years old suddenly came to the clinic, saying that his child was vomiting and had diarrhea and asked her to come and take a look.

Da Zhuang thought he could get there quickly so his child would suffer less. He had just picked up his medicine box when the man insisted, "I want Dr. Er Ya to see him. I don't trust anyone else!"

We've encountered similar patients before.

Some people only trust Dazhuang and Sanwa, and they also don't trust Shen Qiyin.

This was a common occurrence, but Dazhuang's expression was somber as he glanced at the man several times.

Si Tu Nan, who was learning how to prepare medicine from Chun Sheng, also frowned slightly, looking thoughtful.

Shen Qiyin subtly glanced at the newcomer, then picked up the medicine box and said, "Let's go."

"Okay, okay." Seeing that she agreed, the man breathed a sigh of relief as if he had completed a task, and led Shen Qiyin out with a smile: "This way, please."

On the way, Chen Xiyin asked him, "How old are your children?"

He was stunned.

He paused for a moment before replying, "...Ah, I'm four years old."

Is it a boy or a girl?

"Fatty."

"Oh." Shen Qiyin's hand touched her waist: "Then you can be considered to have a child late in life."

"...Yes, that's for sure."

After saying that, he noticeably quickened his pace.

He led Shen Qiyin through a maze of twists and turns, eventually ending up in a dead end.

There were no houses there, but there were three beggars lying on the ground rubbing mud on their hands. When they saw Shen Qiyin, their eyes lit up and they got up as well.

"Yang Ba, you're really something, you actually brought us a little beauty to enjoy." The man said, while looking Shen Qiyin up and down with a lewd gaze.

They thought this beautiful woman would be terrified and begging for mercy, but to their surprise, she remained calm and even looked them over.

The man was greatly surprised and asked in astonishment, "Aren't you afraid?"

"Tsk." Yang Ba frowned and interrupted him: "I don't have time to talk nonsense with you. We need to get down to business."

As he spoke, he turned to look at Shen Qiyin: "My beautiful lady, you're in luck today. We brothers will take good care of you."

Shen Qiyin didn't bother to waste words with them. She simply threw out a packet of powder, and the four of them collapsed to the ground as if they had lost all their strength.

The beggar who had called her "little beauty" was closest to her and was the most severely poisoned; he was lying on the ground convulsing.
