Chapter 15 Who is the doctor?

After leaving the pawnshop, she went to the cloth shop and selected several bolts of fine fabric to make clothes for Rendong. She also bought several pairs of hairpins and earrings, dressed her up beautifully, and sent her to the music academy to learn her craft.

Reading, playing chess, painting... Shen Qiyin could teach these things to Ren Dong herself, but there are many musical instruments, and she is not proficient in all of them, nor does she know which one Ren Dong likes.

So I thought of sending her to a music academy so she could learn whichever music she was interested in.

As the saying goes, it's always good to have more skills. Life is inherently difficult for women, so it's always good to learn more.

Logically, Ren Dong should be the one learning medicine from her, but she remembered that in her previous life, Ren Dong was most afraid of blood and those hideous, festering wounds.

During the days and nights she cared for her, Ren Dong cried while gritting her teeth and persevering.

Given a second chance at life, she didn't want to go through that torment again.

After settling Ren Dong in, Chen Qiyin went to Guang Ren Tang alone.

She started practicing medicine here two years ago.

In the very beginning, she simply read medical books at home by herself. Her father didn't teach her, so she memorized them by rote, going through all the medical books from ancient times to the present and memorizing them thoroughly.

The goal was nothing more than to get a glance from the father when he looked at his two older brothers.

But I was always disappointed.

By sheer chance, she unexpectedly saved someone's life using the books she was carrying.

The master was also there that day.

He told her, "Practicing medicine is like fighting a war; how can theoretical knowledge compare to real combat?"

So she became his apprentice and entered Guangrentang as an apprentice.

Even back then, her initial intention was simply to let her father see that she could also inherit his mantle, heal the sick and save lives, bring honor to the family, and was no less capable than her brothers who were men.

Instead of the recognition and encouragement she wanted, she was slapped by her father.

He said, "To try and teach someone to use their limited skills is utterly presumptuous! If something goes wrong, wouldn't that ruin my reputation!"

"Besides, I myself am a royal physician, a national master. If word got out that my own daughter would become someone else's apprentice, wouldn't people laugh at me!"

It really is a joke.

He won't teach her, nor will he let her learn from others. How ridiculous!

Shen Cang forbade her to go to Guangrentang, but later Old Madam Shen opened a "back door" for her, ordering the servants to keep their mouths shut so that she could successfully become an apprentice and learn medicine. However, all the money she earned each month had to be handed over to her.

In that family, everyone had their own thoughts, each one wicked in their own unique way, with no two alike.

Lost in thought, Shen Qiyin changed her clothes in the back building and came out. As soon as she entered the main hall, a Thousand Eagle Guard dressed in a flying eagle uniform rushed in, grabbed the medicine boy, and asked, "Who is the doctor?"

Chunsheng turned pale with fright and pointed tremblingly at Shen Xiyin, who had just entered the room.

Chen Xiyin: "?"

Before she could figure out what was going on, she was enveloped by the mountain-like figure of the newcomer.

The next instant, the world spun around.

She was carried on someone's shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and that's how she left the clinic.

The man threw Shen Qiyin onto his horse, leaped on top himself, and whipped his horse away before she could even speak.

The horse galloped away, and she lay sideways on its back, the jolting so violently that her internal organs seemed to shift.

Yesterday's heavy rain made her clothes damp, which she wore while seeing patients at the clinic, so she wore her junior apprentice's clothes today.

To make it easier to work, his long hair, which was originally half-up, was tied up, and with a mask on his face, he did indeed look like a handsome young master at first glance.

The Thousand Eagle Guard probably mistook her for a man, so he didn't care about the proper separation between men and women. After dismounting, he still carried her on his back and ran all the way to the yamen.

As she passed the main gate, Shen Qiyin glanced at it with difficulty and saw three large gilded characters embedded in the black lacquered plaque.

Qiying Pavilion.

The government office of the Thousand Eagle Guard.

The man carried her to the nearest main hall, shouting as he ran inside, "They're here! The doctor's here!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Qiyin felt a group of dark shadows flash before her eyes, clearing a path for her.

When she was finally put down, the moment her feet touched the ground, she felt extremely dizzy and saw that everyone around her was swaying.

Her mount was howling in her ear just like Feng Ruoying: "Doctor! Please take a look at my brother, he's about to die!"

Those nearby chimed in, "Please, miracle doctor, save my brother's life!"

"If you can save his life, I'll be your godfather... oh no! You'll be my adopted son... no, that's not right either!"

"If you can cure him, you can be the father of all of us."

Shen Qiyin's head was buzzing from their noise.

At that moment, a voice, as beautiful as heavenly music, rang out.

"Silence." The voice was clear and cold, like snow falling into a chilly spring, carrying a refreshing chill.

Shen Qiyin subconsciously looked in the direction of the voice and unexpectedly saw a silver mask and a pair of eyes beneath it that were as cold as his voice.

Xiao Yan, Commander of the Thousand Eagle Guard.

His thin lips parted slightly, his gaze sweeping to the side: "Thank you for your trouble."

As he finished speaking, Shen Qiyin was carried to the bedside like a little chick. The moment she saw the patient's injuries on the bed, her expression changed.

The person lying on the bed was also a member of the Thousand Eagle Guard.

He looked quite young, around seventeen or eighteen years old.

He has delicate features and soft facial contours, giving him a somewhat masculine appearance.

But right now his face was pale and his lips were purple; he was quite ill.

Shifting her gaze downwards, Shen Qiyin saw an arrow lodged near his heart, its fletching stained crimson with blood. His dark brocade robe concealed the arrow, but the pungent smell of blood assaulted her nostrils.
