Chapter 159 Red-faced Ghost

On the left side of the man's face, there was a large red birthmark that, at first glance, looked like a flame.

Shen Qiyin's first thought was of the red-faced ghost that her senior brother had mentioned before!

She turned to Dazhuang for confirmation and asked, "Is he the tomb raider that Junior Brother was talking about?"

"Um."

"Was it your senior brother who captured him?"

"Um."

Da Zhuang nodded, then suddenly stepped forward and kicked Xu Laosan, saying in a deep voice, "Repeat what you just said."

Xu Laosan was probably terrified of being beaten, so he answered "yes" several times and told everything he knew as if it were too hot to swallow.

In his early years, he frequented the Ganzhou area.

Their family has been engaged in tomb raiding for generations.

One year, while exploring a tomb, he accidentally triggered a mechanism that damaged his vital organs, rendering him unable to have children.

During his recovery, he was unable to go down into the tombs anymore, so he simply wandered around the mass graves. If he was lucky, he could salvage quite a few good things from the dead.

One day, as he was searching for treasures there as usual, he saw two people pulling a carriage over and carrying out two corpses, one large and one small.

After he and the others left, he immediately went over to see if there was anything of value, but after searching the woman from head to toe, he couldn't find a single thing of value.

He thought she was pretty and assumed she came from a wealthy family, but she was dressed in coarse linen clothes, not as well as he was dressed elegantly.

Having gained nothing, he was about to leave when he suddenly heard the cry of a baby.

It turns out the child wasn't dead after all!

"I thought that Heaven cherishes life and could not bear to abandon him, so... Ouch!" Before Xu Laosan could finish speaking, he suddenly covered his head and begged for mercy: "Great hero, spare my life! Great hero, spare my life!"

Dazhuang grabbed his hair and slammed his head against the ground.

He said in an unfriendly tone, "I'm giving you one last chance. Explain clearly why you took that child back with you."

"I'll tell you, I'll tell you the truth." Old Xu was in so much pain that tears streamed down his face, mixed with blood.

"I saw that the child was as round and pink as a dumpling, very pretty and cute. I originally wanted to find a way to sell him, but when I looked at him on the way, I found out that he was a boy!"

He could never have a son in his life, and he couldn't give him to anyone who wanted him, but he couldn't let his skills go unpassed, so he decided to raise this child and let him inherit his mantle.

Since he wasn't his biological son, he treated him like a plaything, so beatings and scoldings were commonplace.

Later, as the child grew up and became more and more outstanding, people started coming to his door asking if he would sell him.

He hadn't considered it at first, until someone offered ten thousand taels!

"I took the money and had someone take him away..." Xu Laosan's voice grew softer and softer as he spoke, glancing furtively at Dazhuang several times, afraid that he might suddenly smash his head on the ground again.

Oh dear, he's still feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

Shen Qiyin looked down at him, her eyes cold, her voice even colder.

"You said you used to frequent the Ganzhou area. Do you remember exactly where you found that child?"

"I remember, I remember," Xu Laosan readily confirmed. "It's in Ganzhou."

"What year and month?"

“That year…” He paused for a moment, lost in memories: “If I remember correctly, it was fifteen years ago, in the first month of the lunar calendar.”

"You're not entirely sure which year it is, but you're so certain it's in the first month of the lunar calendar?"

“Young lady, you don’t know this, but I found that child on the Lantern Festival, so I remember it.”

Shen Qiyin looked thoughtful and asked again, "What about that woman? Do you remember anything?"

Xu Laosan shook his head.

I have a vague impression of him; he was not bad-looking, but I really can't remember what he looked like, after all these years.

Undeterred, Shen Qiyin pressed on, "Is there any birthmark or anything like that?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Laosan hissed and recalled, "Now that you mention it, I remember she had a red mole on her wrist..."

“Yes! There’s a red mole!” He became more and more certain as he spoke. “That child also has one on his wrist; he must have inherited it from his mother.”

Shen Qiyin unconsciously gripped the wrist of the hand with the red mole, and said nothing more.

Seeing that they had asked all the questions they wanted to ask, Xu Laosan smiled obsequiously at Dazhuang and said, "Hero, good man, I have told you everything you wanted to know. Can you let me go now?"

Dazhuang stared at him intently, without saying a word.

He then turned to Shen Qi for marriage.

"Girl, bodhisattva, please have mercy and let me go." This time, Da Zhuang didn't even need to lift a finger; he took the initiative to kowtow and beg, "I remember telling you everything, there's nothing more to hide."

"Really?" Shen Qiyin raised an eyebrow, then suddenly changed the subject: "Did you hit that child?"

Xu Laosan was immediately stunned.

Shen Qiyin narrowed her eyes: "It seems we've already fought."

She then asked, "How many times have you hit them?"

Xu Laosan: "This..."

"Got it, you played too many and can't remember anymore, right?"

"No, no, I didn't, I really didn't." Seeing that Shen Qiyin wanted to avenge the child, Xu Laosan kowtowed even harder: "Please believe me, young lady!"

Having been a seasoned figure in the underworld for many years, Da Zhuang knew perfectly well that this person was definitely hiding something from Sanwa.

He was about to torment him some more when Shen Qiyin stopped him.

"Even if we beat him up a couple of times to vent our anger, have you thought about what to do with him afterwards, senior brother?"

Dazhuang pointed to the empty donkey shed next to him: "Throw it there."
