Chapter 59 Queuing for Beheading

“Yes.” Xionglu nodded.

"Then why are so many people here?"

"It was ordered by the master."

But actually, what Xiao Yan said to Feng Liu was: "Send someone to pick up Shen Qiyin, and by the way... to give those monsters and demons in the Shen family a good thrashing."

Then Feng Liu did a reading comprehension exercise and conveyed the following message to Xiong Lu: "Go and pick up Miss Shen yourself. She made a scene at the Marquis's residence today, and the master is worried that those wicked and despicable people in the Shen family will cause her trouble. Take more people with you and scare them!"

And so, this scene unfolded.

Shen Qiyin was unaware of the reason and, though full of doubt, still cooperated, saying, "...Alright, then I'll trouble Brother Xiong to wait a moment while I go get a sample and come back."

"Take your time, young lady, there's no rush. We'll wait here."

He was afraid she would be anxious, so he didn't send anyone to inform her, thinking that he would only set off when he ran into her outside.

He stood at the entrance of the Shen family's house with a sword at his side, while the Shen family members knelt behind him, trembling with fear.

From a distance, it looked like they were lining up to be beheaded.

Seeing that Xiong Lu had not come to interrogate him, Shen Cang was revived. Just as he lifted his leg to stand up, he heard Xiong Lu cough heavily.

Its sound is like a booming bell, capable of shaking the trees.

Startled, Shen Cang immediately pulled his leg back and knelt obediently on the ground, not daring to move again.

He knelt until Shen Xiyin returned, by which time he was completely numb.

He thought she could help him, his father, get back on his feet first, and then introduce him to that Vice Envoy Xiong. But to his surprise, she walked right past him and got into the carriage without looking back!

After arriving at Qiying Pavilion, Shen Qiyin first changed Qianxing's dressing.

After coming out, she saw that Ren Dong was still squatting in front of the pavilion, enthusiastically poking at the pool of turtles. So she didn't disturb her and went to the dark prison to see Xiao Yan.

Upon entering the pavilion, they found no one there.

A kind guard told her, "The lord is interrogating a prisoner, please wait a moment, young lady."

Shen Qiyin nodded slightly: "Thank you."

She walked to the desk and was about to put down the food box when she suddenly heard a shrill scream. Startled, she dropped the food box, knocking over the tall stack of files on the desk.

She quickly bent down to pick it up.

But unexpectedly, they found two pieces of paper among a pile of files.

It was covered with turtles.

Shen Xiyin was stunned on the spot.

Isn't this her "masterpiece"? How did it end up with Xiao Yan?

In a flash, he realized, ah... he didn't find her in the back mountain, but had his eye on her while she was still in her room.

Or even earlier!

But if he's going to be watching her, why is he drawing her?

While pondering, Shen Qiyin suddenly remembered that on Xiao Yan's birthday, Xiong Lu and several other Thousand Eagle Guards gave him a pond full of turtles, and Xiong Lu even said, "Our lord likes turtles."

She didn't think much of it at the time, but she never expected that Xiao Yan would actually like turtles!

And he liked it so much that he would bring the painting back to keep it as a private treasure!

Just then, I heard a series of footsteps, with a faint echo, “tap, tap, tap,” coming from the staircase leading to the underground.

Shen Qiyin turned around and looked towards the source of the sound.

Xiao Yan, dressed in brocade robes, strode over and immediately spotted the paper in Shen Qiyin's hand!

He paused slightly, then walked over as if nothing had happened.

Shen Qiyin lowered her eyes and greeted him: "Lord Xiao."

“The food box is here, there’s no pawn.” She emphasized this point, then added, “I didn’t bring your cloak today; I was thinking of washing it and returning it.”

Xiao Yan simply hummed in agreement, his gaze still fixed on her hands.

Seeing this, Shen Qiyin calmly put the things back in their place and explained, "I was startled when I suddenly heard a scream."

"The food box wasn't held properly and fell, knocking over the files on the table."

"Please forgive me, sir."

"...It's alright."

He went straight to the desk and put the two pages of paper into the drawer. However, Shen Qiyin noticed that there seemed to be a purse in the drawer, which was charred and had been burned.
