Chapter 134 The Talking Snake

Yun Qingran drew her soft sword and searched the vicinity, but found no trace of them.

She carefully examined the surrounding traces; they had left in an orderly fashion, not in a panicked escape.

"Why did they suddenly leave?" Yun Qingran found it a bit strange.

Just then, she heard a rustling sound, the sound of snakes crawling through the grass and trees, and not just one, but many.

Yun Qingran felt a chill run down her spine. She kicked the fire, and it immediately scattered, with small flames hissing and forming a protective circle.

"Hiss..." One by one, snakes with triangular heads crawled out from the surrounding grass and trees, flicking their tongues at Yun Qingran.

"Holy crap, so many snakes!" Yun Qingran gripped her soft sword tightly.

"Whoosh!" A snake leaped up like a sharp arrow, aiming for the carotid artery in her neck. If she were bitten, the venom would quickly spread throughout her body via the bloodstream, and even a miracle worker would be unable to save her.

Yun Qingran reacted quickly, performing a nimble somersault and striking out with her soft sword, severing the venomous snake in one strike.

But as soon as she landed, all the venomous snakes around her, just like the one before, leaped up and attacked her.

With so many snakes attacking at once, and all of them being venomous, it might hold them off for a while, but not for long.

He died before he could even begin! Waaah~

"I'll fight you to the death!" Yun Qingran decided that even if she died, she would teach these unfriendly vile snakes a lesson.

Just as she uttered the words "I'll risk it all," a pair of hands grabbed her waist, and she was lifted into the air, leaving the venomous snakes empty-handed.

“Pei Chen… Wu Yuan?” Yun Qingran turned her head happily, only to find Wu Yuan in front of her, not Pei Chen as she had thought.

"Long time no see." Wu Yuan looked at her face, his deep eyes surging with unspoken emotions.

"You know who I am?" Yun Qingran was a little surprised. When she met Wu Yuan, she was a fat and ugly monster.

"The one who promised to refine the Nine-Turn Rejuvenation Pill for me," Wu Yuan replied.

"How did you recognize me?" Yun Qingran asked happily.

"Eyes." Wu Yuan's answer was concise and to the point.

"You're really amazing." Yun Qingran happily gave Wu Yuan a thumbs up.

Wu Yuan, with his arm around her waist, swept through the woods and finally stopped on a large rock. Yun Qingran quickly stepped out of his embrace and stood opposite him, asking, "Wu Yuan, what are you doing here?"

"I just happened to be passing by," Wu Yuan replied.

He was dressed in a shimmering purple robe and wore a golden phoenix mask on his face. He was both noble and charming, and his aloof and cold demeanor made him seem like a celestial being descended to earth!

"Just passing by?" Yun Qingran looked around. What was there to pass by in a place like this? It was obviously a lie to deceive her.

"And you, what are you doing here?" Wu Yuan asked her.

A sly glint flashed in Yun Qingran's eyes, and then she said, "You might not believe it, but I came here to find the dragon bones and the gallbladder of the Rock Cave King Serpent for refining the Nine-Turn Rejuvenation Pill. What a coincidence that I ran into you."

Now that Pei Chen and the others have disappeared, and I don't know any light-footed skills, getting up the mountain is almost impossible. Right now, Wu Yuan is the best mount. Uh oh, I mean, the best companion!

Besides, she didn't completely fool Wuyuan. The boatman said that there were dragon bones on Chifeng Mountain, and dragon bones were one of the ingredients for refining the Nine-Turn Rejuvenation Pill.

"What a coincidence," Wu Yuan said with a smile. "Since you're looking for the ingredients to refine the Nine-Turn Rejuvenation Pill, I'll stay and keep you company."

"Okay." Yun Qingran happily gave a thumbs-up.

"By the way, Wuyuan, have you seen a group of people wearing black light armor?" Yun Qingran asked Wuyuan.

The Shadow Guards and Pei Chen couldn't have abandoned him; something must have just happened.

"Are they lost?" Wu Yuan asked.

"You could say that. I just went to pee, and when I came back they were gone. They couldn't have abandoned me. And if they were attacked, they couldn't have been wiped out all at once, without even leaving a body." Yun Qingran found it more and more unbelievable. The boatman said there was a tomb on this mountain. Could it be haunted?

When Wu Yuan heard Yun Qingran say "pee," he froze. Was this something he could say to her?

"Wuyuan, what's wrong with you?" Yun Qingran took a step back when she saw that he didn't move. Could Wuyuan be a ghost in disguise?

"It's nothing. I was just wondering if there's something strange on this mountain that might lure people away, because my servant also disappeared without a trace when he went to relieve himself," Wu Yuan said solemnly.

Zhao Xingyun's martial arts skills are not low; it's impossible for him to disappear without a sound when something happens.

"Does that mean it's not just me, but you also encountered this kind of thing?" Yun Qingran looked at Wu Yuan in surprise.

“Yes, I’ve been looking for him, and I just happened to run into you,” Wuyuan said.

The truth is that he was indeed looking for Zhao Xingyun, but he was also looking for Yun Qingran; he came after seeing the firelight.

"They must be in danger. Let's find them quickly." Yun Qingran was very worried.

"Miss Yun, Miss Yun, I'm here." Just as the two were about to tie a torch to keep out the wind and look for someone, Pei Chen's voice suddenly appeared. His tone was urgent, which made them feel uneasy.

"Pei Chen, how are you? How are Ying Yu and the others?" Yun Qingran became excited upon hearing Pei Chen's voice.

Pei Chen is alright, Pei Chen is still alive.

"Miss Yun, come with me quickly." Pei Chen didn't answer, but said in an even more urgent tone.

Upon hearing this, Yun Qingran's heart skipped a beat, sensing something was amiss. Pei Chen was usually boisterous and outspoken, always saying what was on his mind immediately, never acting so mysteriously.

"Pei Chen, how are Ying Yu and the others?" Yun Qingran asked, her hand resting on the hilt of the soft sword at her waist.

"They're dead, come with me quickly," Pei Chen urged anxiously.

Seeing Yun Qingran's tense and nervous appearance, Wu Yuan stood in front of her without making a sound, shielding her behind his back with one hand and placing the other hand with the fingers bent into a claw shape at his side.

"You're not Pei Chen, who are you?" Yun Qingran shouted.

Pei Chen wouldn't be so mysterious; I've only heard his voice for ages but never seen him!

"Whoosh!" A dark shadow darted out from the vines beside it.

Wu Yuan, carrying Yun Qingran, turned away. Upon closer inspection, they saw a black snake, about the thickness of a wrist.

The snake raised half its body and tilted its head to look at the two of them. Even more terrifying, it uttered an urgent human voice, "Miss Yun, Miss Yun, they are all dead!"

That's Pei Chen's voice; the one who just spoke was the snake!

Yun Qingran got goosebumps all over her body. This snake could actually talk! Was she encountering a ghost or a monster?!

"Miss Yun, Miss Yun!" The snake continued to tilt its head and look at Yun Qingran, calling her urgently.

Yun Qingran stared at the talking snake with a stiff, cold expression.
