Chaoyang Palace
"I won't drink it, take it away, it's no use drinking it." Consort Ning lay on the bed with her hair disheveled, looking haggard, her eyes red and streaked with tears.
"Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! The little prince is having another seizure!" A palace maid rushed in, disregarding all etiquette.
Upon hearing this, Consort Ning immediately jumped out of bed and ran to the side hall without even putting on her shoes.
The entire side hall was in chaos. In the crib, a thin, frail baby was crying and convulsing, a sight that tugged at the heartstrings.
"My son, my son!" Consort Ning was frantic when she saw this. Like an angry lion, she yelled at the imperial physicians beside her, "What are you standing there for? Quickly save the little prince! If anything happens to the little prince, I will make you all pay with your lives!"
"Your Highness Consort Ning, the little prince is too young and extremely weak. We have no way to treat him," the imperial physician said helplessly.
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, the little prince is foaming at the mouth!" a palace maid exclaimed in alarm.
Consort Ning looked over and saw that the little prince was foaming at the mouth, his limbs were stiff, his eyes were closed, and he was about to faint.
"Ah~" Consort Ning screamed in fear.
"Make way." Yun Qingran rushed in, her large body pushing aside the people surrounding the crib. She pressed her fingers on the little prince's neck; there was still a pulse, but it was very weak. Without treatment, he wouldn't live more than a quarter of an hour.
"Miss Ning, if I fail to save the young prince, please be sure to protect my father and elder brother." Yun Qingran looked at Ning Jitang with a piercing gaze.
The young prince's condition was too critical, and there was no time to negotiate with Consort Ning. Instructing Ning Jitang was the fastest and safest course of action.
“Okay.” Ning Jitang solemnly agreed.
Seeing Ning Jitang agree without hesitation, Yun Qingran had no more worries and focused all her attention on the little prince.
"Three ounces of ten-year-old ginseng and five mace of aconite root. Have the wet nurse chew them raw, then go for a run and come back in a quarter of an hour." Yun Qingran's expression was calm, and although her speech was fast, her words were clear.
"Yun Qingran, what are you doing here? What are you doing? Let go of the little prince!" An old nanny was the first to react and angrily shouted at Yun Qingran.
“Granny Sun, I invited Miss Yun to treat the young prince. From now on, we shall do as she says.” Although Ning Jitang was young, she was not weak. Her words immediately silenced the entire room. She looked at the wet nurse and said, “Why don’t you do as Miss Yun says?”
The wet nurse quickly did as Yun Qingran instructed.
"Tangtang, what's going on?" Consort Ning was both flustered and frightened. Seeing Ning Jitang calmed her down a little, but she was still confused by Yun Qingran's sudden appearance.
"Aunt, do you believe me?" Ning Jitang asked Ning Pin.
"Of course your aunt believes you." Consort Ning nodded. She had watched her niece grow up, and the two had a deep bond, so of course she trusted her.
“Then, please listen to Miss Yun’s suggestion, Aunt.” Ning Jitang looked at Yun Qingran.
At this moment, Yun Qingran snatched the needle pack from the imperial physician's hand, unfolded it, took out the thinnest needle from it, and then took the little prince's hand and slowly inserted the needle into the little prince's middle finger.
"What are you doing?" The imperial physicians were frightened. If anything happened to the young prince, they, the imperial physicians, would certainly be held responsible.
"Since your medical skills are lacking, get out of my way and don't disturb me while I'm saving him. Don't worry, if anything happens to the little prince, I'll take full responsibility." Yun Qingran glanced at the imperial physician.
Her words were arrogant and conceited, which offended the imperial physician, but he was also intimidated by her cold and intimidating gaze. He opened his mouth and then closed it again.
"The Emperor has arrived! The Prince of Beihan has arrived!" a shrill voice announced.
A few moments later, a bright yellow figure and a black figure strode into the side hall.
"emperor……"
Apart from Consort Ning, who kept her eyes fixed on the young prince, everyone else knelt down. Before they could even finish saying "Long live the Emperor!", they were stopped by him and hurriedly asked, "How is the young prince?"
He was just discussing border defenses with Jun Molin when someone from Chaoyang Palace came to report to the young prince that something bad had happened. He rushed over immediately, and Jun Molin followed him.
"Your Majesty, the young prince is unconscious," Granny Sun quickly replied when Consort Ning did not respond.
"Since the young prince is not well, what are you all standing around for? Why aren't you saving him?" the emperor roared at the imperial physicians beside him.
"It was Miss Yun who told me to get out of the way," the imperial physician said, kowtowing as he tried to shift the blame.
"Miss Yun?" The Emperor looked at Yun Qingran's mountain-like back. She was standing next to the crib, bent over, doing something that was unclear to him.
"Didn't you say first that you were powerless to help?" Ning Jitang looked at the imperial physician and said coldly.
"Your Majesty..." the imperial physician tried to continue his sophistry.
"Shut up, all of you," Yun Qingran said impatiently.
"Listen to her and be quiet," Consort Ning whispered.
The side hall immediately fell silent.
The Emperor doted on Consort Ning, and since she forbade him to speak, he didn't continue. He tiptoed to the baby's crib and saw Yun Qingran inserting a slender silver bead into the little prince's index finger.
"What is she doing?" The Emperor was shocked when he saw this. Such a long needle stuck in his finger, wouldn't it hurt terribly? The little prince is so young, how can he withstand such torment?
"Shut up, don't speak," Consort Ning snapped without even raising her head.
Consort Ning was aloof and had lost her temper with him more than once or twice. Given the current special circumstances, the Emperor showed no sign of blaming her and instead continued to obediently keep her mouth shut.
The young prince had silver needles inserted into all ten of his fingers. His convulsions had stopped, but his complexion remained poor, which was frightening to behold.
"Where is the wet nurse? Why hasn't she come yet?" Yun Qingran asked.
"Coming, coming!" The wet nurse ran in.
"Feed the little prince." Yun Qingran gently picked up the little prince and handed him to the wet nurse, making sure she didn't touch the silver needles in the little prince's hand.
“The wet nurse has eaten ginseng and aconite, so this milk cannot be consumed,” the imperial physician stepped forward to stop her.
"If you don't understand, then get lost." Yun Qingran was very annoyed with this imperial physician. She wanted to ask him if his medical skills were taught by a PE teacher. She had already written down the answer, how could he still make a mistake?
“Your Majesty, ginseng and aconite are forbidden for wet nurses. The little prince is already weak. By doing this, she is trying to harm him,” the imperial physician said, kneeling down with a thud.
"What's going on?" The Emperor looked angrily at Yun Qingran.
Jun Molin was also watching her; to be precise, he had been watching everything she did ever since he came in.
He wanted to hear how this wicked woman explained her actions.
“Your Majesty, the young prince is on the verge of death. I used silver needles to stimulate him, saving half his life. The other half requires ginseng and aconite soup to sustain him. But the young prince is too small to withstand the medicine's effects, so only his wet nurse can take it and transfer it to him through breast milk. If you keep nagging, even a miracle worker couldn't save the young prince.” Yun Qingran explained concisely in language everyone could understand.
"Wet nurse, feed her," Consort Ning ordered directly from the side.
It's obvious that she completely trusts Yun Qingran now; there's nothing she can do about it, as Yun Qingran is her only hope.
