The wet nurse quickly took the little prince behind the screen and breastfed him.
"Miss Yun, how is the young prince?" Consort Ning looked at Yun Qingran with longing eyes.
"We're not out of danger yet," Yun Qingran said truthfully.
The young prince's condition was serious, and given his young age, she wasn't entirely certain, but she was about 80-90% sure. However, with so many people around, it was best not to say it aloud.
"Waaah..." Consort Ning sobbed again after hearing this. The Emperor stepped forward, put his arm around her shoulder, and pulled her into his embrace, comforting her with choked sobs, "Our son will be alright."
Jun Molin glanced at them indifferently, his eyes deep and unfathomable, revealing nothing of his thoughts.
"As far as I know, Miss Yun doesn't seem to know anything about medicine?" After Yun Qingran had some free time, the imperial physician came to her side and asked with a smile.
"Imperial Physician Zhou." Ning Jitang frowned and reminded him. This person is so annoying; his medical skills are lacking, yet he talks so much.
"How do you know I don't understand?" Yun Qingran raised her eyes, smiling as she looked at Physician Zhou, but her eyes were devoid of warmth, so cold that they made one shiver.
Third Uncle once commented on her, saying that despite her often carefree and unserious appearance, she was actually arrogant, fastidious, vengeful, and extremely concerned about her image.
This Physician Zhou is subtly provoking her; she won't be leaving unscathed today.
"Because I have never heard of Miss Yun's medical skills, and I have never heard of Miss Yun's treatment methods either." Physician Zhou's tone was calm, but one could still detect a sense of belittling and disparagement in his words.
"That's because you're ignorant and lack skill," Yun Qingran said with a slight smile.
“Miss Yun is far too arrogant. I am an imperial physician in the Imperial Hospital.” Physician Zhou invoked his status, saying that the most skilled doctors in the world were all in the Imperial Hospital.
"It seems that Physician Zhou is quite dissatisfied. How about we make a bet?" Yun Qingran said leisurely, arms crossed.
"Let's gamble, what should we gamble on?" Physician Zhou immediately agreed.
"If I cure the little prince, you can call me 'Grandma' a thousand times in the courtyard of the Imperial Hospital. If I fail to cure the little prince, you can do whatever you want with me. How about it?" Yun Qingran looked at Physician Zhou with her chin slightly raised.
“Alright, it’s a deal.” Physician Zhou agreed without hesitation.
"How dare you! Who do you think the young prince is, someone you can use for betting?" The chief eunuch, Eunuch Wei, who served the emperor, flicked his whisk and scolded.
"Your Majesty, please forgive me! Your Majesty, please forgive me! I was also misled by Miss Yun." The imperial physician Zhou realized what was happening and knelt down before the emperor with a thud, kowtowing repeatedly.
I was so angry at this wicked woman that I forgot all about respect and hierarchy.
"Your Majesty, I had no intention of offending the young prince. Please punish me." Yun Qingran curtsied and apologized.
She also forgot that this was ancient times, an era where the monarch's power was supreme, and one could not offend the royal family or its members in words or deeds.
“Father, Miss Yun is the eldest daughter of the Duke of Wu’s family. She is well-educated, reasonable, and knows the proper order of things. She probably didn’t mean to offend my younger brother.” Jun Molin, who had been standing silently to the side, suddenly spoke up.
Jun Molin was clearly speaking up for Yun Qingran, but his use of the idioms "knowledgeable and reasonable" and "understanding of hierarchy" made everyone wonder if he was really pleading for her or mocking her.
Yun Qingran glared at him from an angle unseen by others, silently saying, "Well said, don't say it again next time."
The Emperor was surprised that his usually aloof and taciturn son would speak up for Yun Qingran. The Yun family was now powerless and had no connection with him, so why would he publicly support Yun Qingran?
Could it be that the Emperor took a closer look at Yun Qingran? She was as fat as a small mountain, and the red marks on her face were quite alarming. He secretly wondered, "Could it be that my son likes this type?"
"Since Lin'er has spoken up for you, then so be it." The Emperor waved his hand gently.
“Father, it’s against the rules for Miss Yun to treat my younger brother so rashly. It’s understandable that Physician Zhou is unhappy. Why don’t we let them make the bet? That way, the other party will be convinced,” Jun Molin continued.
The Emperor looked at Jun Molin with even more suspicion in his eyes. His son was acting strangely today!
"Yes, granted." The Emperor agreed.
Jun Molin has always been aloof and arrogant since childhood, showing little affection for his father, the emperor, and has never made any demands. Today, since he has finally spoken up for someone else, he must give him face.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Yun Qingran curtsied to the Emperor in gratitude. This bet had the Emperor's approval, and if she won, the stakes would be very high.
"Miss Yun, the little prince has been fed, but he hasn't eaten much." The wet nurse who had just brought the little prince out said.
Yun Qingran walked over, took the little prince's wrist, and gently pressed her fingers on his pulse to check it.
Everyone in the side hall held their breath, waiting for the result.
After a few moments, Yun Qingran's expression changed, and she slightly increased the pressure on the little prince's pulse.
Seeing the change in her expression, everyone was on tenterhooks, extremely nervous.
Physician Zhou sneered inwardly, thinking that the wicked woman had definitely failed to cure the young prince, and that he had won.
"The ginseng and aconite soup worked, and the little prince is temporarily out of danger." Just when everyone thought the little prince was going to die, Yun Qingran withdrew her finger, slowly exhaled, and smiled as she announced the good news.
Upon hearing this, Consort Ning burst into tears, her body going limp. Had it not been for the maid beside her supporting her, she would have surely collapsed to the ground.
"Thank God, thank God, my son's life has been saved." Consort Ning cried and thanked him.
The imperial physician, Zhou, looked very unwell. He quickly stepped forward to take the young prince's pulse. The pulse was weak, but the prince was indeed out of danger.
