Chapter 209 Curing Xiao Shi

“Those who are born mentally challenged, or whose brain nerves have been damaged later in life, are definitely incurable. However, Xiao Shi’s mental disability has not damaged his brain nerves, so of course it can be treated,” Yun Qingran explained.

"What is brain nerve?" asked the Green Immortal.

"Brain nerves are a type of tissue in the brain," Yun Qingran explained succinctly.

"I don't understand." Green Immortal chuckled.

"Madam, Master, and Miss, the medicine is ready." A servant brought over a bucket of black medicinal soup.

"Pour these medicinal decoctions into the bathtub, add hot water, and then let Shi'er soak in it," Yun Qingran said.

"Yes," the servant replied respectfully.

Xiao Shi obediently went to take a medicinal bath. After soaking for half an hour, Yun Qingran took the silver needles she had prepared and walked into the bathroom.

The bathroom was filled with steam. Xiao Shi was soaking in the bathtub with his eyes closed. His dark, shiny hair clung to his straight back and chest, making him incredibly alluring.

Emptiness is form, form is emptiness... Yun Qingran silently recited, gazing at the sky.

"Ranran, what do we do next?" Madam Xiao and Xiao Jie also followed them into the bathroom.

"Just use acupuncture to expel the phlegm that's blocking your heart and lungs." Yun Qingran walked to the bathtub.

"Sister." Xiao Shi opened his eyes. In the steam of the water, his eyes became even clearer and cleaner, like black jade that had been washed clean.

"Shi'er, it might hurt a little when I give you acupuncture later. You have to bear with it and not move around." Yun Qingran coaxed gently.

"Yes, Shi'er will listen to her sister." Xiao Shi nodded heavily.

"Shi'er is such a good boy." Yun Qingran ruffled his hair, it felt so nice, and then ruffled it again. Once he regained his senses, she couldn't ruffle his hair like that anymore, she had to cherish the time she could ruffle his hair now.

After calming Xiao Shi down, Yun Qingran opened her needle belt and began administering acupuncture.

The first needle, a three-inch-long silver needle, was inserted into the chest.

"Ah~" Xiao Shi cried out in pain, looking up at the sky.

"Shi'er." Madam Xiao looked at her son's pained expression, and tears streamed down her face.

"Shi'er, bear with it." Yun Qingran squeezed Xiao Shi's shoulder.

"Yes, sister." Xiao Shi pursed her lips, trying not to make the sound out.

The second needle, a three-inch-three-tenths-inch needle, was inserted into the back near the heart.

Xiao Shi was in so much pain that his veins were bulging, but looking at Yun Qingran, he endured it.

After the second needle was inserted, Xiao Shi's lips bled.

"Why is this blood black?" Green Immortal asked, looking at the black blood at the corner of Xiao Shi's mouth.

“These bruises are black, these are bruises.” Yun Qingran composed herself and this time took five two-inch-long silver needles and stuck them into Xiao Shi’s head.

"Cough cough cough..." After the five two-inch silver needles were inserted, Xiao Shi suddenly coughed violently.

"Shi'er, Shi'er." Madam Xiao looked at the deceased, whose cheeks were flushed from coughing, and trembled with heartache.

Xiao Shi coughed for a while, and more and more black blood oozed from the corner of his mouth, but no phlegm came out.

Yun Qingran came up behind him, reached out her jade hand, and slapped him on the back.

This palm strike used internal force, causing Xiao Shi to hold his breath. He then coughed violently, and a black mass flew out of his mouth.

"Finally out." Yun Qingran breathed a sigh of relief.

After spitting out the phlegm that had blocked his vision, Xiao Shi slowly closed his eyes and then fainted.

"Ranran, what's wrong with Shi'er?" Madam Xiao asked anxiously.

After taking his pulse, Yun Qingran said, "He's fine, he just fainted from exhaustion."

"Ranran, will Shi'er regain her senses once she wakes up?" Xiao Jie asked anxiously.

"That should be true." Yun Qingran nodded.

"That's great, that's great!" Xiao Jie laughed heartily. His son was finally going to return to normal.

"May the Bodhisattva protect us, may the Bodhisattva protect us!" Madam Xiao clasped her hands together in gratitude to the heavens.

"Is this the thing that caused Shi'er to become mentally impaired?" Xiao Jie stared hatefully at the black mass on the ground.

"Yes." Yun Qingran nodded.

"Someone, get this filthy thing away from me. I'm going to curse it 108 times a day," Xiao Jie said bitterly.

Yun Qingran covered her mouth and chuckled. Her godfather was just too cute!

Xiao Shi was sent to rest, and Xiao Jie and his wife went to check on him and wait for him to wake up. After the matter was completed, Yun Qingran and Green Immortal returned to the post station.

Remote County Dungeon

"Speak, who instigated you to rebel and cause trouble?" Jun Molin sat in a chair, the light from the kerosene lamp hanging above him shining on him, like a sharp and merciless divine weapon, making people feel cold all over.

"With no one instructing them and not having enough to eat, they rebelled and caused trouble." The prisoner, whose hands and feet were shackled, swallowed hard and looked at Jun Molin timidly.

The entire dungeon was dark and damp, with blackish-red stains on the ground formed by dried blood from years of neglect. Jun Molin, dressed in a black robe, sat in a chair, looking like a messenger from hell, capable of taking lives with a flick of his hand.

"Pei Chen, break one of his legs." Jun Molin's voice was calm, but his words made the prisoner stiffen and tremble with fear.

"Your Highness, the Northern Cold King, I was wrong. I shouldn't have been blinded by greed and committed such a heinous crime. I dare not do it again," the prisoner pleaded in fear.

"Pei Chen." Jun Molin seemed not to hear the prisoner's pleas for mercy, his fingers still lazily tapping the table.

Pei Chen stepped forward, picked up a wooden stick, and broke the prisoner's right leg without hesitation.

"Ah..." A shrill scream echoed in the cell.

"I don't have much patience. I'll ask you one more time: who instigated you to rebel and cause trouble?" Jun Molin stared coldly at the prisoner.

"Your Highness, the Northern Cold King, without anyone to instruct him, and lacking food, he rebelled and caused trouble," the prisoner replied, his forehead covered in sweat and his voice hoarse and weak.

"Pei Chen, break his right leg." Jun Molin looked at the prisoner indifferently.

"I told you, I rebelled because I couldn't get enough to eat! Jun Molin, kill me if you want, but why torture me like this?" The prisoner roared, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at Jun Molin.

Jun Molin stood up and strode over to the prisoner. “Yao County is a frontier county, so it only pays 10% tax. Your family lives in Daheishan, which is located on the border. Each household there receives ten taels of silver per person per year. You say you can’t get enough to eat?”

The prisoner stared at Jun Molin speechlessly.

"I don't have time to play with you. Tell me, who exactly ordered you to rebel and cause trouble?" Jun Molin's gaze was like a cold blade, staring intently into the prisoner's eyes.

"What goes around comes around. This year it's my turn. Can't I be the emperor if I want to?" the prisoner said arrogantly.

Jun Molin swiftly raised his right hand and grabbed the prisoner by the neck, then said with a playful tone, "I heard you have a childhood sweetheart?"

Upon hearing this, the prisoner's pupils dilated.
