Chapter 218 The Battle Between Man and Crocodile

After the sun set, stars filled the sky, and a magnificent Milky Way stretched across the night, serene and beautiful. The stars twinkled like mischievous children, and Yun Qingran, half-reclined on the bamboo raft, watched the stars and fell asleep in the night breeze.

After seeing that she had fallen asleep, Nangong Xu took off his cloak and draped it over her. He then sat cross-legged and began to practice his martial arts.

The guards took turns on duty to prevent crocodile attacks, and the long night passed by unnoticed.

The next morning, the golden sun, like a radiant golden ball, slowly rose from below the horizon.

"Phew~" Yun Qingran yawned, then rubbed her eyes and sat up.

When she woke up, she saw that everyone was already awake, and she felt a little embarrassed.

"Eat something." Nangong Xu handed her a piece of malt candy when he saw she was awake.

"Thank you." Yun Qingran took the malt candy, rinsed her mouth with water, and put the candy in her mouth. She hadn't eaten anything last night, and her stomach was growling with hunger.

Green Fairy watched her eat candy, his mouth watering.

"Is there something dirty on my face?" Yun Qingran asked him, touching her face.

“You’re the only one who has this maltose,” Green Immortal said in a low voice.

Yun Qingran's eyes widened. She thought everyone had one, but it turned out she was the only one. The malt candy in her mouth suddenly lost its flavor. She looked at Nangong Xu with a complicated expression. He was sitting cross-legged, resting with his eyes closed.

“You’re the only girl, so it’s not surprising that you get the only food.” Green Immortal lowered his voice even further. “I just want to remind you that Nangong Xu seems to be serious about you.”

“We haven’t known each other for long, just a few days. When did he fall so deeply in love with me?” Yun Qingran looked at Nangong Xu with a worried expression.

Nangong Xu is Jun Molin's enemy, so it's really awkward that Nangong Xu has fallen for him.

“I’m wondering too. Could it be that he fell in love with you at first sight?” Green Immortal analyzed. “Actually, it’s not impossible. Master, you are as beautiful as an angel. It’s normal for a man to fall in love with you at first sight.”

Upon hearing the words "as beautiful as an angel," Yun Qingran tossed her hair and feigned sadness, saying, "Sigh, being beautiful is also a kind of trouble."

"So pretentious!" Green Immortal gave her a disdainful look.

The giant crocodiles remained guarding the bamboo raft, and as noon approached, fatigue began to show on everyone's faces. The Green Immortal, whose inner strength was weak, was already slumped over on the raft, starving. Yun Qingran began to feel increasingly uneasy.

"Nangong Xu, didn't you say there would be reinforcements? We've been waiting for almost a day, why haven't they arrived yet?" Yun Qingran asked Nangong Xu.

Nangong Xu pursed his lips and said, "Wait a little longer."

Before leaving the city, just in case, he told the general guarding the city that if he didn't return within a day, he should bring his troops to the swamp at Cui Luan Mountain to meet him. A day has passed since he left the city, and they haven't arrived yet; could something have happened?

"I'm not rushing you, I'm just reminding you that the longer we wait, the worse it will be for us," Yun Qingran said.

"I understand." Nangong Xu nodded. He also understood this principle, but there were too many giant crocodiles, and they were in a swamp. He could barely fight his way out by himself, but if he left, what would happen to Yun Qingran, and what would happen to the others?

"Nangong Xu, if we don't get reinforcements, fight your way out by yourself. Every one of us who survives is a chance; there's no need for everyone to die." Yun Qingran knew he could fight his way out alone.

Nangong Xu's lips tightened, and he looked at her with clear, bright eyes.

"When the time comes, could you please pass on a few words to Jun Molin and my two children, telling them that I love them very much and that I'm sorry?" Yun Qingran felt very sad when she thought of Jun Molin, Yan Yan, and An An.

If I were to die, they would be devastated. Especially Yan Yan and An An, who grew up without a mother and finally reunited with me, only to die in a foreign land. It would definitely cause them immense psychological trauma.

"Go and say it yourself," Nangong Xu said, his tone tinged with anger.

"How can you be like this? I can go and tell them, why do you have to tell them?" Yun Qingran snorted at Nangong Xu and sat down next to Green Immortal.

"Master, are we really going to die here?" Green Immortal cried. "I haven't even made a name for myself in history yet."

Yun Qingran secretly took a piece of candy out of her small bag and slipped it to him, saying, "I'll try my best to find a way."

Upon seeing the candy, the Green Immortal's eyes lit up. He looked around and, finding no one watching, quickly took the candy and popped it into his mouth.

"Master, how come you have candy?" Green Immortal asked softly.

"I always put a few pieces of candy in my bag when I go out." Candy can quickly restore energy, and I can eat candy if I don't have time to eat or if there is no food available.

"Master, you are so smart." Green Immortal sincerely admired Yun Qingran. She was indeed a person who seemed carefree, but was actually very meticulous and intelligent.

A beautiful appearance is a dime a dozen, but a wise mind is one in a million.

"Give Eagle Feather a piece." Yun Qingran took out another piece of candy and handed it to Green Immortal.

“Okay, I’ll give it to him secretly later,” said the Green Immortal as he took the candy.

Yun Qingran emptied everything out of her small bag to see if there was anything useful, but it seemed like there wasn't anything useful.

As the sun gradually set, Yun Qingran reminded everyone, "Be careful, crocodiles are nocturnal creatures and may attack at night."

"Yes." The guards tensed up when they heard her say that.

Sure enough, as the last ray of dawn disappeared into the horizon and darkness descended upon the earth, the crocodiles began to move.

"Be careful, crocodiles may lurk under the bamboo raft," Yun Qingran reminded everyone again.

Before she could finish speaking, the bamboo raft was lifted up, and Nangong Xu flipped the tasseled spear in his hand, thrusting it downwards towards the raft.

A spray of blood gushed out from the gap in the bamboo raft. Stimulated by the smell of blood, the other crocodiles became even more agitated, and a battle between humans and crocodiles was about to break out.

The giant crocodiles swarmed around and began tearing at the bamboo raft and the people.

Everyone drew their weapons and engaged the giant crocodile in battle.

"This crocodile skin is too tough! My sword only left a shallow mark when I stabbed it." Yun Qingran had stabbed the giant crocodile that came to bite her dozens of times, but she didn't expect it to be so unharmed. She was speechless.

"Prick its eyes," Nangong Xu warned.

Yun Qingran nodded and began to stab at the crocodile's eyes, but the crocodile was not stupid and kept dodging, so she couldn't stab it at all.

Everyone used their weapons to stab the crocodile as if they were free. Although they temporarily stopped the crocodile, they couldn't hold out for long, especially since they had been hungry all day.
