Chapter 58 Playing Games

"Oh, she's stopped going on blind dates?" In the study, Jun Molin stopped writing after hearing Pei Chen's words.

“Yes, I’ve been on dozens of dates these past few days, and they all fell through. This Miss Yun is quite a talent.” Pei Chen clicked his tongue in amazement.

Jun Molin's lips curled slightly. This woman, he really didn't know what to say about her.

"Your Highness, what are your thoughts on Miss Yun?" Pei Chen asked tentatively.

“There is no possibility between me and her,” Jun Molin replied.

Pei Chen couldn't discern Jun Molin's mood, but he could sense that Jun Molin was unhappy.

"Your Highness, I take my leave." Pei Chen bowed, turned around, and backed away.

"Ah!" He turned around as soon as he went out and saw a man in black. He was startled. After looking closely at the person, he said strangely, "Chen Ning, scaring people can kill you."

The man in black was none other than Jun Molin's personal guard, Shen Ning.

"Such a coward." Shen Ning scoffed.

"Why did you come back? Weren't you investigating Nangong Yi?" Pei Chen asked, looking at him.

"Hehe, the clues went cold, so I came back. I can ask the prince for leave and go on a blind date." Shen Ning chuckled.

"Going on a blind date? Want me to give you some advice?" Pei Chen put his arm around Shen Ning's neck and raised his eyebrows.

"Forget it, you don't even have a lover yourself, what can you teach me?" Shen Ning looked at him with disdain.

“You’ve never heard of a strategist not leaving the battlefield,” Pei Chen said matter-of-factly.

"Come on, just say you can't find it, don't try to fool me." Shen Ning pushed Pei Chen aside and went inside to ask Jun Molin for leave.

The next day, Yun Qingran woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw that it was another beautiful and charming day, making her feel great.

"Young Miss, Miss Ning has arrived," Bicao announced as she entered.

"Let Tangtang in," Yun Qingran said while changing her clothes.

"Yes, Miss."

A moment later, Ning Jitang came in. "Ranran, are you really going to Liang Jingxue's poetry recital?"

"Mm." Yun Qingran nodded.

"She's clearly setting a trap for you to fall into," Ning Jitang said, her face full of worry.

"It's fine if you don't jump, Tangtang, don't worry about me." Yun Qingran comforted Ning Jitang by holding her shoulder.

"Then I'll go with you." Ning Jitang sighed. She knew Yun Qingran's temper. Once she decided to do something, she would do it no matter who tried to persuade her. In layman's terms, she was a stubborn mule. She didn't know what her future brother-in-law would be like or whether he could tolerate her stubbornness.

"Tangtang, you're the best." Yun Qingran hugged Ning Jitang's shoulders and shook her.

The two of them rode together in a carriage to the Liang residence.

The Liang family is a wealthy and powerful family with abundant assets, and their mansion is extremely luxurious and grand.

"Miss Yun has arrived," the gatekeeper announced loudly.

Hearing the announcement, everyone in the courtyard looked towards the entrance. The sunlight was gentle and bright at that moment.

A woman walked gracefully towards them, her hair styled in a simple princess braid, wearing a plain white dress, her jet-black hair casually draped over her shoulders, fluttering in the wind.

She wore very little adornment, yet the entire Liang mansion seemed to serve as a backdrop to her breathtaking beauty, captivating all who looked upon her.

"Yun Qingran looks so beautiful now."

"Does this face really exist?"

"No, I need to eat less, I need to lose weight!"

"From today onwards, I will insist on applying milk to my face."

...

Yun Xiyue looked at Yun Qingran, her hands tearing at her handkerchief from her sleeves, venting a flood of jealousy and hatred.

If it weren't for Yun Qingran, if she hadn't become beautiful, she would still be the one receiving the most attention and praise for her stunning beauty.

"Miss Yun is here?" Liang Jingxue stepped forward, her tone not very welcoming.

Those who didn't know the situation might have thought that Yun Qingran had shamelessly insisted on coming to the Liang residence to participate in the poetry gathering.

"Didn't you invite me to my house yesterday? What, you're not welcome? Then I'll leave?" Yun Qingran stopped in her tracks.

Liang Jingxue's smile froze, and she said awkwardly, "Welcome, welcome, of course you're welcome."

Liang Jingxue led the way, casually remarking, "Miss Yun's outfit today is really understated."

"Plain" is a euphemism; in reality, it means she was poor. Her clothes were no different from those of ordinary people, and her appearance and demeanor carried her off perfectly.

A blatant irony!

"I've squandered all my family's money. I'm poor and can't afford to buy nice clothes!" Yun Qingran said with a grin.

A moment of silence fell. He had intended to subtly mock her, but she had blurted it out directly. How was he supposed to respond? He felt too embarrassed to say anything more.

Yun Qingran smiled inwardly. The ancestor was right after all; sincerity is always the ultimate weapon!

"Money is just an external thing, Miss Yun, please don't worry about it too much," a noblewoman comforted her.

"Mmm." Yun Qingran nodded.

That's how you pass the first hurdle.

A group of people arrived at the back garden. Although it was winter, the back garden of the Liang family was still full of flowers and very beautiful.

After the group sat down, they could faintly hear a man's voice coming from the other side of the wall.

"My brother has also invited his friends to the manor today. Don't worry about them, let's just enjoy ourselves," Liang Jingxue said with a smile, urging everyone to eat.

Today, many luxurious pastries have been prepared. These pastries are made with expensive ingredients and are complicated and exquisite. Liang Jingxue originally planned to use these pastries to satirize Yun Qingran's poor family after taking her seat, but after the confrontation just now, the plan was ruined.

"Everyone, the sun is shining brightly today. We're just sitting here anyway, so why don't we play some games?" Liang Jingxue suggested after eating for a while.

"What should we play?" Yun Xiyue chimed in.

"It's a scoring game, three rounds in total. The person with the highest score wins and receives a valuable prize. The person with the lowest score will be penalized." Liang Jingxue ordered someone to bring over a brocade box, then opened it for everyone to see.

Inside the brocade box was a pale blue, vine-like jade-like object, which shimmered with a soft luster in the sunlight.

Chalcedony Vine! Yun Qingran licked her lips. In the 21st century, Chalcedony Vine had become extinct; she had only ever seen it in books.

"This isn't jade; it's a rare medicinal herb called Chalcedony Vine, which is said to have beauty and skin-nourishing properties," Liang Jingxue proudly introduced.

Upon hearing that it could beautify and nourish the skin, all the noble ladies' eyes lit up. Yun Qingran had become thinner and more beautiful after eating Snow Lotus Fruit and Flame Sun Grass, transforming from an ugly duckling into her stunning appearance. Perhaps they could replicate that path.

"Miss Liang, what game are we playing? Let's start!" a noblewoman urged impatiently.

"The first game is pitch-pot," Liang Jingxue said, and immediately more than a dozen maids came up with bronze pots and arrows.

The bronze pot has three holes in total, with the middle hole being the largest and the two holes on the sides being smaller.

"One point is awarded for each arrow that lands in the large hole, and two points are awarded for each arrow that lands in the small hole. There are ten arrows in total, and whoever has the highest score wins," Liang Jingxue explained the rules.

After the introduction, Liang Jingxue looked at Yun Qingran. Pitch-pot was a game played among nobles; she grew up in the countryside, so how could she possibly play it?
