Chapter 98 Assassin

When Yun Qingran lifted the tent flap, she saw countless dark figures carrying quivers and holding crossbows leaping towards her in the pale moonlight.

"These are assassins!" Yun Qingran saw these people, quickly came out of the tent, and ran down the path on the cliff.

"Miss Yun, what's wrong?" Pei Chen was on patrol when he saw Yun Qingran running down the mountain in a panic, and he quickly asked her.

"Something's wrong, someone's planning a night raid," Yun Qingran said in a low voice.

"A night raid?" Pei Chen tensed up.

"I saw a lot of men in black coming," Yun Qingran said.

"Follow me to find the Prince." Pei Chen turned and ran towards Jun Molin's tent.

Yun Qingran followed behind him, and the two arrived outside Jun Molin's tent.

"Your Highness, Your Highness."

"Come in." Jun Molin's voice came immediately from inside the tent.

Pei Chen led Yun Qingran inside. The tent wasn't big, and they immediately saw Jun Molin lying on the bed. He hadn't taken off his clothes or even his shoes; his feet were propped up on the bed.

"Your Highness only sleeps like this outside; he doesn't sleep this sloppily at home," Pei Chen quickly explained to Yun Qingran in a low voice, afraid that she would find his prince sloppy.

There's no other way. Although the prince is the God of War of Beiyin, he is aloof, sparing with words, and utterly devoid of charm. He's also unmarried and has two children. He couldn't let Miss Yun slip away now that he's finally met her.

"Hmm." Yun Qingran didn't think Jun Molin was sloppy; on the contrary, she felt a little sorry for his actions.

He did this so he could respond immediately to any emergencies. He went to the frontier when he was a teenager, and he's probably spent every day like this for all these years!

Despite being a noble prince who could have enjoyed all the riches and honors of the world in the capital, he chose to fight bravely on the frontier to protect his country so that the people could live in peace and the nation could prosper.

It has to be said that Yun Qingran has some respect for the God of War, Jun Molin.

Jun Molin got up and sat on the bed. He glanced at Yun Qingran first, then asked Pei Chen, "What is it?"

“I saw people dressed in black heading towards Guniu Gorge,” Yun Qingran replied.

Upon hearing this, Jun Molin had no doubt about the truth of Yun Qingran's words. He immediately stood up and gave orders, "Pei Chen, the Right Guard will protect the delegation from the three kingdoms, and the Left Guard will accompany me to fight."

"Yes, Your Highness, I will go immediately." Pei Chen accepted the order and left.

Jun Molin had already quickly put on his armor. Dressed in black armor and holding a long sword, he was cold and alluring.

"Stay in the tent and don't move." Jun Molin looked at Yun Qingran, his tone still cold, but with an imperceptible gentleness.

“I’ll go with you. I know martial arts too, so I can help.” Yun Qingran ran forward two steps and stood in front of Jun Molin.

"I don't need you. Just stay in the tent." Jun Molin said, then turned and left the tent.

"Oh." Yun Qingran reluctantly replied, then sat down to wait. Since he didn't want her to go out, she decided not to go out herself, lest she make things worse.

But after sitting for less than a minute, Yun Qingran couldn't sit still any longer. She stood up, tiptoed to the tent entrance, and furtively lifted a corner of the tent flap to peek outside.

As Jun Molin emerged from the tent, an arrow flew toward his chest. He raised his sword to block it, and the arrow was instantly cleaved in two.

Judging from their moves, this group of assassins is the same group that was at Wanjiang Garden last time. He later guessed that the group of assassins was Nangong Xu's, so this group tonight is also Nangong Xu's.

Then, the sound of crossbows shooting came from both sides of the cliffs. Looking up, one could see countless arrows, gleaming coldly, shooting towards the camp like a dense swarm of locusts.

"Ready to fight!" Jun Molin shouted softly, then touched the ground with his toes and flew into the air. He swept his longsword, and a burst of sword energy shot out. The sword energy collided with the arrows in the air, and the arrows shattered into pieces and fell to the ground. His movements were clean and neat!

Wow! That's so cool! Yun Qingran, hiding in the tent, had her eyes light up!

I used to think she was into abs, then I thought she was into hands, voices, legs, and waists. Now it seems she's just plain lecherous; she likes anything that's good-looking!

(Person?????)?☆

At Jun Molin's command, the left guards uniformly took out their shields to defend themselves, and the metal arrows struck the shields, sparks flying.

After a volley of arrows, more than a hundred men in black flew down from both sides. They were all masked and carried long knives as wide as a palm.

The left guard put away his shield, took out his spear, and the two fought fiercely, neither gaining the upper hand.

"What happened?" Nangong Ye was the first to hear the commotion outside.

"There are assassins. Please, Your Highness Ye, do not come out." The Right Guard Commander stood guard at Nangong Ye's door, preventing him from leaving.

"It must be Nangong Xu." Nangong Ye looked at the Northern Yin soldiers and men in black fighting in the distance.

He still remembered when he came to Beiyin, that damned Nangong Ye looked at him with a half-smile, clearly harboring some wicked scheme.

The Right Guard Commander did not respond, as this was a matter of Southern Chu's own internal affairs, and as a Northern Yin person, he could not get involved.

"What happened?" Luo Ru and Luo Xiang, who had gone to bed early, were also woken up and got up with sleepy eyes.

"Minister Luo, there are assassins, but don't worry, His Highness the Prince of Beihan will handle it," the Right Guard Commander said respectfully.

"How could there be an assassin!" Luo Ru shook his head.

Yan Shuangshuang, who was in the innermost tent, also heard the noise. "What's going on outside?"

"Your Highness, there are assassins outside." Chunhua's tone was somewhat panicked. "We're almost at the capital of Beiyin, how could we still encounter assassins? The security in Beiyin is really terrible."

"Shut up." Yan Shuangshuang glared at Chunhua. "Who do you think these assassins are after? They're after our delegation. What does it have to do with Bei Yin?"

"Princess, could it be His Highness Jing?" Qiuju asked in a low voice.

“Nonsense! His Highness has always been respectful to Her Highness the Princess. How could he treat Her Highness like this?” Chunhua quickly retorted.

"Hmph, I don't see how His Highness treats the Princess well. He's only being nice to her because he's afraid of the Emperor," Qiu Ju sneered.

“It couldn’t be Yan Jing. He wouldn’t dare treat this princess like that,” Yan Shuangshuang said confidently.

If I were to be assassinated, the first person I would suspect would be Yan Jing. Yan Jing wouldn't be so foolish as to use assassination as a means to deal with me.

"Who could it be?" Qiuju asked curiously.

"I don't know, we just need to protect ourselves." Yan Shuangshuang walked into the tent, sat down at the table, and calmly drank tea. She had seen countless storms since she was a child, and this little thing couldn't scare her.

"Your Highness, Attendant Yun." Qiu Ju said softly to Yan Shuangshuang as she saw Yun Qingbi arrive outside the tent.

Yan Shuangshuang looked out of the tent and saw Yun Qingbi standing outside. In the flickering candlelight, his features remained deep and handsome, as if meticulously drawn with a fine brush.

"Let him in," Yan Shuangshuang said.

Yun Qingbi walked in, cupped her hands in greeting, and presented a special piece of clothing.
