Chapter 194 Originally someone had thought of this
Zhizhi turned the TV volume down a bit and asked, "Did you two have a fight?"
Zhou Lin went out to take a look and nodded, "Okay!"
Which one?
"Hmm," Zhou Lin nodded again.
Zhizhi quickly ran to the door, opened it, and stuck her head through the crack to listen to the commotion.
As soon as the door opened, Zhizhi could hear noises coming from the stairs. A child's cries were mixed with a woman's shouts, "I don't care, go ask her, why should I?"
"They're all regimental commanders, so why can they stay here while we can't?"
"When I told you I wanted that room, you said you couldn't get it, that it required a higher level of service. What's going on with them?"
"Even a stinky out-of-towner has moved in."
"Could you please keep your voice down?" the man's voice rang out, tinged with weakness and exhaustion.
"If I'm not quiet, why should I be?"
“We clearly have a larger population – you, me, and two children – and we’re crammed into this place, while they only have two people, yet they get to occupy such a spacious area. Why should they?”
What's the point of yelling at me?
"What's the use? What's the use? Can't you just ask?"
"Who should I ask?"
The argument was interspersed with the cries of two children, who kept calling out, "Mommy, Daddy..."
Then, "bang!", their door actually opened.
Zhizhi immediately raised her head and asked Zhou Lin above her, "You're not going to come and ask us, are you?"
Then the couple tacitly tucked their heads inside the door and closed it.
"Bang, bang," and soon enough, someone knocked on their door.
Zhou Lin said to Zhizhi, "Let's go back to our room first."
Zhizhi obediently ran back to her bedroom and then stuck her head out there.
Zhou Lin waited until Zhizhi went inside before opening the door a crack. "Who are you looking for?"
He looked at the man outside the door and asked a question with a distant attitude.
When the man saw Zhou Lin open the door, the lingering anger on his face disappeared. "You...you're new here, aren't you?"
Zhou Lin nodded.
The man appeared to be in his thirties, with a buzz cut, dark skin, and a muscular physique, and was wearing a training uniform.
He wasn't as tall as Zhou Lin, but he wasn't short either, looking about 1.78 meters tall.
He doesn't seem like the type to cause trouble.
"Hello, I am the commander of the First Regiment, my name is He Zhen."
Zhou Lin also extended his hand, "Zhou Lin."
"Your surname is Zhou. Are you the new commander of the Third Regiment?" He Zhen asked.
Zhou Lin nodded.
“I never expected you to be so young,” He Zhen said, looking up at Zhou Lin.
Zhou Lin remained aloof, saying, "You're twenty-nine, not young anymore."
Hearing this, He Zhen gave a helpless smile. "What you're saying makes us all want to crawl into a hole and hide."
Zhou Lin: "Commander He is overthinking it."
Seeing his serious and unsmiling demeanor, He Zhen couldn't bring himself to say what he wanted to say.
In the end, all I could say was, "It's getting late, so I won't bother you any longer."
Zhou Lin nodded and then closed the door.
After He Zhen returned home, his wife Liu Tian immediately asked, "Did you ask?"
He Zhen awkwardly grabbed at the two hair clips he couldn't hold at all. "What should I ask? How should I ask?"
How am I supposed to bring this up?
"Should we tell people, 'We have many children, you don't have any, so you want to swap houses with us?'"
He Zhen's series of questions silenced Liu Tian.
He Zhen said with a hint of helplessness, "We've been living here for quite a while now, haven't we? What's wrong with that?"
"Isn't it nice to not live here?"
"Bang!" Liu Tian slammed down the things beside her. "Fine, fine, all you can say is that. Don't you know whether it's good or bad?"
He Zhen also felt aggrieved. "Then what else can we do?"
"Go and exchange houses with someone?"
"Then go ahead and say it. I don't have that much face."
"..."
The two people behind them would occasionally shout a few words.
But Zhizhi didn't stretch out again.
After Zhou Lin returned to his room, Zhizhi ran out of the bedroom and asked, "What are you doing here?"
"I don't know, they didn't say."
"That woman's man?"
"Um!"
“The couple seems a bit crazy,” Zhizhi couldn’t help but say.
Zhou Lin didn't quite understand what "diandian" meant, but guessing it wasn't a compliment, he told Zhizhi, "If I'm not home and they knock on the door, don't open it."
"Mmm," Zhizhi nodded like a chick pecking at rice, "Don't worry, I'm very smart!"
Hearing her unashamed words, Zhou Lin couldn't help but reach out and pat her head. "Yes, you're a smart little wife."
Zhizhi also took the opportunity to hug his waist and act coquettishly, "Whose clever little wife is she?"
“It’s mine,” Zhou Lin claimed without hesitation.
This prompted Zhizhi to tiptoe and give her a good "mua, mua..."
The next morning, Zhou Lin went to report to the army, and Zhizhi also went to the Cultural Relics Administration Department.
However, since Zhizhi is somewhat of a freelancer, she leaves home relatively late in the morning.
When she left the residential compound, it was already eight o'clock. Only her sister-in-law, who was taking care of the child, was still at home.
When Zhizhi went downstairs, she happened to run into her sister-in-law who was chatting with her child.
Seeing Zhizhi come downstairs, and noticing a stranger—a round-faced woman—the woman couldn't help but smile and greet Zhizhi, "Did you just move in?"
Since they would be living in the same place from now on, people greeted her with smiles, and Zhizhi naturally responded with a smile, "Yes, I just moved in yesterday."
The woman then asked, "Do you live upstairs?"
The branches nodded.
The three family members downstairs with children couldn't help but stare at her.
Zhizhi couldn't help but wonder what was so interesting about it.
The woman who greeted her couldn't contain her curiosity and pointed to the room where Zhizhi and the others were staying, asking, "Is this the room you're staying in?"
Zhizhi nodded again.
Then Zhizhi asked curiously, "Is there... something wrong with this room?"
The woman who was speaking sized her up. She was pretty and young, and had a pregnant belly, so she didn't seem like a bad person. She glanced around and lowered her voice, "I'm telling you this, but don't tell anyone I told you!"
Zhizhi nodded immediately.
The woman said, "Actually, it's nothing serious. It's just that someone was thinking about this room of yours before."
The other two women immediately nodded in agreement. "Yes, yes, it's Liu Tian, who lives next door. I've been thinking about her for a long time," said one of the shorter women.
Another woman with short hair said, "Liu Tian has gone to the political commissar several times about this, insisting that she has many children and that the room you live in is bigger, so she wants to move in!"
"But the political commissar has not agreed, saying that all the houses are the same size and that they will be assigned to that one in order."
"She disagreed, but the political commissar didn't budge either."
Zhizhi then realized that the woman from yesterday was named Liu Tian. No wonder she had such a sour face after finding out where they lived yesterday.
That evening, her husband went to look for her; it turned out that's what happened.
But why did her man go looking for her?
Could it be that you're thinking of moving to a different house?
Zhizhi thought this was too fantastical.
Going to the political commissar was useless, but they were thinking of exchanging houses with them...
Do you think that the couple is easier to control?
