Chapter 93 Xu Shanshan hates him
When he was young, he did this to coax Xu Shanshan to eat, but he stopped doing it as his two brothers, Wen Jinshu and Wen Jinzhou, grew up and became more sensible.
At that time, because of adopting Wen Qianqian, Xu Shanshan focused most of her energy on her and rarely got angry with Wen Changyu.
She devoted most of her time to Wen Qianqian.
Although I haven't knelt for many years, I'm not unfamiliar with it now because of my past experience.
Wen Changyu simply ignored the changes in his own body.
He's fifty years old now, no longer in his twenties.
He suddenly knelt down, hitting his knees so hard they hurt.
Wen Changyu didn't dare to utter a sound, but instead sincerely apologized to Xu Shanshan, "If you're upset about what happened today, I apologize to you. It's all my fault, no matter what. Just eat your food and I'll kneel for as long as I want."
Xu Shanshan heard the "thump" and guessed what had happened, but she remained unmoved.
He even had a cold smile playing on his lips.
She disdained Wen Changyu's method of kidnapping her.
So after Wen Changyu finished speaking, Xu Shanshan didn't utter a single word.
She didn't speak, and Wen Changyu, being a stubborn person, just kept kneeling there.
He was getting old, and after kneeling all night, he couldn't get up the next day.
The next morning, Wen Jinzhou brought food into the ward and saw his father slumped on the floor, looking very disheveled.
His mother leaned against the headboard, watching coldly.
Seeing this, Wen Jinzhou didn't think much, put down the lunchbox in his hand, and quickly helped Wen Changyu to his feet.
But Wen Changyu's knee was injured and he couldn't stand up at all, so Wen Jinzhou helped him up and wanted him to sit on Xu Shanshan's hospital bed first.
As soon as Wen Changyu moved closer, Xu Shanshan suddenly shifted the blanket, making a large movement to distance herself from Wen Changyu, as if Wen Changyu were some kind of dirty thing.
Wen Changyu's expression froze for a moment, then became somewhat gloomy.
Wen Jinzhou was also stunned by his mother's actions. In an instant, he bent down in front of Wen Changyu and said, "Dad, get on, I'll carry you to see the doctor."
A gust of cold wind entered the ward, and Wen Jinzhou and his son disappeared from the room.
"Doctor, doctor..." Wen Jinzhou's voice clearly reached Xu Shanshan's ears from outside the ward. It was easy to see that Wen Jinzhou was frantically calling for help for his father.
When Wen Jinzhou entered Xu Shanshan's ward again, it was almost 10 a.m. He asked Xu Shanshan, "What happened to my dad's leg?"
Xu Shanshan lifted her eyelids to look at him. "How would I know?"
Wen Jinzhou pointed to the side of her hospital bed, "Dad is lying right there. It's just you and Dad in this room, how could you not know?"
"When I woke up, he was slumped over there. How would I have known?" Xu Shanshan still had that indifferent look on her face.
"Why didn't you call a doctor for Dad?" Wen Jinzhou looked into her eyes and saw confusion, hurt, and even more hurt.
His mother didn't care enough about his father, something Wen Jinzhou had sensed before, but his father loved his mother very much, so Wen Jinzhou believed that his parents were loving.
But what happened today deeply hurt Wen Jinzhou.
Let alone couples, even strangers should help each other up if they see someone fall to the ground and can't get up.
Is it really possible to simply turn a blind eye?
Moreover, his father sat on the ground for who knows how long, and his mother just stood by and watched coldly the whole time. How hard must her heart be to do that?
When questioned by Wen Jinzhou, Xu Shanshan still didn't think she had done anything wrong. Instead, she coldly asked Wen Jinzhou, "Are you blaming me now?"
Her words left Wen Jinzhou speechless, and for a moment he didn't know what to say. "I..."
“Heh…” Xu Shanshan sneered again, glanced at him, and then looked away.
They didn't take Wen Jinzhou seriously at all.
The truth is that Wen Jinzhou was no match for her, so he had no choice but to turn to Chang Yu for advice.
The doctor said Wen Changyu injured his knee and will have to rest in bed for a while.
Wen Jinzhou couldn't help but ask him, "What exactly happened between you and Mom?"
Wen Changyu looked at his knees and, unusually, remained silent.
Xu Shanshan's indifference not only alarmed Wen Jinzhou, but also alarmed Wen Changyu, who was directly involved.
He knew that Xu Shanshan didn't like him that much. Xu Shanshan came from a wealthy family, while his family, in reality, was just a poor family of scholars.
He then joined the army and did not read many books.
Xu Shanshan talked to him about foreign poets, but he couldn't understand them. Xu Shanshan offered him foreign coffee, but he couldn't get used to it either. Their experiences and habits were too different, and they often argued in the first few years of their marriage, although he always lost in the end.
Later, when their children grew up, the two, like many couples who had been married for many years, took turns being the breadwinners and the homemakers. Although Xu Shanshan still didn't talk much to him, the two stopped arguing.
Wen Changyu thought that it was because of the passage of time that Xu Shanshan gradually saw his true feelings and began to accept him from the bottom of her heart.
But what happened that night made him realize that no, Xu Shanshan might never have had him in her heart.
Last night, after he knelt down, he thought that he would kneel for at most three hours and then Xu Shanshan would eat because she felt sorry for him. After all, he had cherished Xu Shanshan for most of his life.
Thinking that Xu Shanshan would feel sorry for him, Wen Changyu deliberately made some noise when he knelt down, moving around from time to time and making hissing sounds to make Xu Shanshan notice his physical discomfort.
But Xu Shanshan didn't even turn her head, let alone feel sorry for him.
For the first three hours, Wen Changyu was still "hissing and laughing," but after three hours, Wen Changyu's heart turned cold, and his stubbornness was also aroused. He wanted to see if Xu Shanshan was really that hard-hearted.
As it turns out, Xu Shanshan is indeed very hard-hearted.
Xu Shanshan slept soundly until four in the morning when his knees gave way and he collapsed onto the bedside table with a loud bang.
Xu Shanshan on the bed was clearly awake, but she didn't turn around.
Wen Changyu tried to stand up, but found that he couldn't. His knees felt like they were stuck with thousands of steel needles, and he couldn't support himself at all.
He tried several times, but each time he fell back down. He looked at the person on the bed and tried to open his mouth, but in the end he kept it closed.
I used my hands to press and knead my legs to relieve the pain in my knees.
As dawn broke, Xu Shanshan got out of bed and sat against the headboard, still ignoring his predicament. But by this time, Wen Changyu was no longer disappointed; he was just... still feeling a little disheartened.
He thought that even if they weren't a couple, but just strangers sharing a hospital room, he should still lend a helping hand if he saw them.
After all, there was no real grudge or resentment between them.
At that very moment, Wen Changyu suddenly realized that perhaps... Xu Shanshan hated him.
Although this truth may be very heavy for him, Wen Changyu has to think about this issue. Otherwise, even if he doesn't love her, they have been married for almost thirty years. He believes he has done nothing to wrong Xu Shanshan. How could Xu Shanshan be so indifferent to him? Is it really just out of spite?
