Chapter 6: The In-Laws Come and Make Trouble

"Well, you little bastard, you are such a piece of shit. What did you say the last time we came here?"

"You clearly said you have no money left, so where will you get the money to marry a wife now?"

"I heard that the betrothal gift alone was 20 taels, and the wedding was so grand. How much silver did it cost?"

"Moreover, you didn't even inform your family about such a big thing. Your brother doesn't even have money to marry a wife? If you have that money, why don't you let him marry a wife? He is such a bastard, an ungrateful person who can never be tamed." These two people were none other than Yu Zhiheng's family members, his aunt Zhao and sister-in-law Chen.

When Sang Yu saw these two people, he felt that they had bad intentions, and now he frowned when he heard these words.

"Shut up!" she shouted angrily, her eyes sharp, which startled the two men and made them shut up subconsciously.

"He keeps asking for money and calling others ungrateful. This is the first time I've seen such a shameless relative."

Seeing that both of them were staring behind them, Sang Yu turned her head to look at Yu Zhiheng, but saw that Yu Zhiheng seemed not to see them. He opened the door without changing his expression. Just as he was about to enter, one of the peasant women stepped forward and stopped him.

"Erdan, what do you mean by this? Are you playing dumb? Now that you've married a wife and forgotten your mother, you don't even want to acknowledge your sister-in-law and aunt?"

After hearing this, Yu Zhiheng glanced at her sideways and whispered, "Get out of the way."

"You want us to leave?" Another peasant woman, the eldest sister-in-law, Chen, stepped forward. "Oh, if you want us to leave, that's fine. Bring us this month's silver. Seeing how you're putting on such a grand ceremony to marry a wife, it must be a lot of silver! Just give us five taels this time. Your brother is not young anymore, and he needs to marry too. I didn't expect you, an ungrateful person, to leave your brother alone and secretly marry first!"

"That's right," said Aunt Zhao. "Last time I came, they only gave me half a tael of silver, saying it was all my money. But then you turned around and took out twenty taels of silver to marry me off. Have you lost your conscience?"

After saying this, he turned around and looked at Sang Yu with disdain, "This wife is worth twenty taels? With her thin arms and legs, I'm afraid she can't even carry a shoulder pole!"

Upon hearing this, Yu Zhiheng's demeanor suddenly changed. "Shut up!" He looked at the two people in front of him with eyes like knives, frightening them so much that their calves trembled. "Are you worthy enough to mention her?"

Chen and Zhao looked at Yu Zhiheng's changes in horror, their hearts beating fast.

It's really strange. How come Erdan became a different person after getting married? His eyes are so scary that they can scare people to death.

In the past, I was always bullied by them and didn’t even dare to say “no”. What happened now?

Sang Yu also said, "You're really extorting money. You're asking for five taels of silver right out of the blue. Where's your nerve? His elder brother hasn't gotten married yet, so what's it to do with him? Is my husband his parent? Huh? You're so bold to come here and ask for money. From now on, as long as I'm around, don't even think about taking a single penny from me!"

After Sang Yu finished speaking, seeing that neither of them responded, Sang Yu yelled again, "Get out!"

When the two asked for money before, they always gave as much as they were asked for. This was the first time they were scolded, and they were stunned for a moment. Before they could come to their senses, Sang Yu slammed the door.

The two people outside the door left dejectedly when they saw the door was closed.

After the others left, Sang Yu looked towards Yu Zhiheng standing in the yard and asked tentatively, "Erdan?"

Yu Zhiheng was still immersed in the sweetness of the word "husband", but when she heard this, she was stunned and turned to look at Sang Yu.

"Isn't this your name?" Sang Yu came over with a smile.

"No." An angry voice.

Sang Yu just found it funny, "Are you shy? Don't worry, I won't laugh at you... Erdan... Hahahaha."

Yu Zhiheng looked at her happy expression and curled up the corners of his mouth unconsciously.

"Look, you're smiling again. I just said I saw you smiling."

As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Zhiheng's face turned stern again, "No."

Sang Yu smiled for a while and then took out the medicinal herbs from the backpack, arranged them according to their types, and dried them. Yu Zhiheng then began to process the two pheasants.

"Why aren't you curious about why I know medicinal herbs?" On a whim, Sang Yu turned around and asked Yu Zhiheng, just in time to see him kill the pheasant neatly and hanging it upside down to control its blood.

"Not curious."

Sang Yu: ...

"You are such a boring person, at least ask!"

Yu Zhiheng had set up a simple pot with stones in the yard and was lighting a fire to boil water. He paused when he heard this and looked up at Sang Yu. "Why do you know about medicinal herbs?"

"Hahahaha." Sang Yu laughed this time, "You are really interesting."

Yu Zhiheng: ...

After drying the herbs, Sang Yu sat bored in the yard and watched Yu Zhiheng process the pheasants. He put two chickens that had been drained of blood in hot water for a while, then took them out and started plucking their feathers. He plucked them quickly and cleanly, which reminded Sang Yu of Zhao and Li just now.

Before getting married, Lin Xiaoxiao told her about Yu Zhiheng's situation.

He is a poor man indeed.

Yu Zhiheng is the second son of Chen Erlang, the second branch of the Chen family.

No, it should be Chen Erdan. He later changed his name to Yu Zhiheng.

The Chen family is considered a wealthy family in the village, but the eldest son is cowardly, lazy and has no skills. Only Chen Erlang is physically strong and is the only hope of the Chen family.

But when the conscription came, every family had to provide one quota. The men in the Chen family were all cowards, so in the end Chen Erlang was the one who joined the army, but he didn't expect that he would never come back.
