Chapter 48 Recipes

Chapter 48 Recipes

Gu Xiao walked closer and saw that she was completely dependent on him, her heart and eyes filled with him.

A glint of pleasure flickered in his eyes. He freed one hand to put it around her waist and led her inside.

"Are you hungry? Let's eat."

She touched his hands wrapped around her waist and said sweetly, "Okay..."

After dinner, Gu Xiao fetched water for her to bathe, while he took a cold shower in the yard.

He moved quickly, entering the bedroom covered in dampness and smelling of soap.

He dried his short, spiky hair with a towel, but his gaze fell on Nan Zhiyi.

She was facing away from him, her nightgown neckline slightly open, revealing a slender, fair neck.

Under the light, she applied the perfume gently.

"It smells so good." He casually draped the towel over the back of the chair, and walked over to her in a few steps. His figure instantly enveloped her, carrying a strong aura.

Nan Zhiyi's heart raced, and she instinctively wanted to shrink back.

He leaned down, brought his nose close to her neck, and took a deep sniff.

"What are you applying? It smells so good." His lips deliberately brushed against her earlobe.

Nan Zhiyi trembled, and even her toes curled up in tension.

"Just...just face cream..."

She tried to push him away, her fingertips touching his skin, then recoiled as if burned. "You...you're not fully healed yet..."

"It's alright."

Gu Xiao completely ignored her weak protest, or rather, that protest was more like an invitation.

His aloof, self-possessed, and meticulous demeanor in public completely vanished, leaving only his longing for her and his clingy, persistent nature.

He held her by the back of her neck with one hand to prevent her from dodging, and with the other hand he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into his embrace with a little force.

His kiss landed, prying open her lips and teeth, and penetrating her deeply.

Nan Zhiyi's body went limp from his kisses.

Reason struggled, but the body, under his skillful manipulation, quickly betrayed her will.

"No..." she uttered broken syllables between his lips.

"Lights... turn on the lights..."

Gu Xiao chuckled softly, released her lips, and stepped back slightly. His deep eyes shone with an astonishing light, surging with an undercurrent that made her heart tremble.

He did as instructed, stretching out his arm and snapping the light off.

"Zhiyi..." His kiss landed again, this time on her brow, eyelids, and the tip of her nose, finally lingering on her soft lips, with endless patience and a tormenting allure.

"Don't be afraid..." His voice was low and husky, his lips brushing against her earlobe.

Nan Zhiyi was dazed from the kiss and leaned softly against his chest.

She couldn't help but let out a soft moan, her body trembling slightly.

"You're such a good girl..."

He breathed heavily in her ear, whispering sweet nothings that made her cringe with shame, coaxing her, seducing her, and drawing her into his whirlpool of depravity.

"The last time..."

The long night seemed to last forever.

Nan Zhiyi didn't even have the strength to move a finger. Before her consciousness sank into darkness, she felt Gu Xiao gently wiping her sweaty body with a warm towel.

Nan Zhiyi was awakened by the bright sunlight outside the window.

She turned her head slightly and saw Gu Xiao.

He was dressed in a neat military green shirt and trousers, buttoned up meticulously, his back straight as a pine tree, sitting in the old rattan chair by the window, looking down at a document spread out on his lap.

His serious and composed demeanor was completely different from his appearance last night.

The stark contrast inexplicably ignited a surge of anger in Nan Zhiyi, mixed with embarrassment and annoyance.

"Gu Xiao!" she called him by his full name.

Gu Xiao looked up at the sound, his gaze shifting from the documents to her face.

The coldness vanished instantly, replaced by a smile and a languid look of satisfaction.

He got up and walked over. "Awake?"

"You're so mean!" Nan Zhiyi pulled the thin blanket over half her face, leaving only her eyes showing, and glared at him.

Gu Xiao sat down on the edge of the bed and leaned down to hug her: "Where are you naughty?"

Nan Zhiyi's face turned even redder, and she pushed him away through the blanket: "Get away from me!"

Having just tasted success, Gu Xiao was in a state of high spirits and had no intention of leaving.

He easily pushed aside her resistance, pulled her into his arms through the blanket, and lowered his head to find her lips.

"Ugh... I didn't brush my teeth!" Nan Zhiyi turned her head away to avoid the question.

"I don't mind." Gu Xiao chuckled softly, chasing her lips.

Nan Zhiyi was both ashamed and anxious. She struggled in his arms and accidentally bumped her elbow against his wound.

Gu Xiao grunted and stopped moving.

Nan Zhiyi, disregarding her shyness, reached out to lift the hem of his shirt.

Sure enough, a small bloodstain had seeped through the edge of the gauze, which was quite glaring.

"You!" she said, both angry and anxious. "Why did you have to do that yesterday... Couldn't you have just held back? Now the wound is..."

Gu Xiao grasped her trembling fingers, holding them in his palm, his eyes deep and unfathomable: "I can't stand it. I can't stand it when I'm near you."

"Gu Xiao!" Nan Zhiyi felt her body burning with embarrassment at his blunt words and forcefully pulled her hand back. "Shut up!"

Seeing her flustered state, Gu Xiao's smile deepened, but he didn't tease her anymore.

Nan Zhi, puffing out the covers and getting out of bed, ignoring the discomfort between her legs, said, "Let's go to the hospital to change the dressing! Now!"

The two walked hand in hand to the military hospital.

In the surgical clinic, Dr. Zhang, an elderly military doctor with gray hair, skillfully removed the gauze from Gu Xiao's ribs, revealing the wound with its slightly cracked and swollen edges.

"Hey Commander Gu," Dr. Zhang teased in a seasoned tone as he disinfected the wound with iodine-soaked cotton balls, "it's good that young people have a lot of energy, but you have to be careful with your health! If you keep going like this, your wound will heal at a snail's pace!"

Nan Zhiyi stood to the side, her face flushed red, her fingers tightly twisting the hem of her clothes, wishing she could disappear into a crack in the ground.

She suppressed her embarrassment and waited for Dr. Zhang to re-bandage the wound before speaking softly, "Dr. Zhang, could you please... prescribe some more medicine to promote wound healing? Also... are there any supplements? Or... what kind of food would be good to eat? Could you tell me about a diet plan?"

Dr. Zhang softened his tone: "I'll definitely prescribe the medicine. As for tonics, I'll have old hen stewed with codonopsis and astragalus to warm and nourish the blood and qi, which will help with wound healing. Fish soup, lean meat porridge, eggs, and milk—all high-protein foods are essential. Avoid spicy and greasy foods, and absolutely no smoking or alcohol."

He glanced at Gu Xiao meaningfully, "The most important thing is to rest and avoid strenuous exercise!"

Gu Xiao buttoned up his shirt without changing his expression, as if the topic wasn't about him.

Nan Zhiyi's ears turned bright red. She took the prescription from Dr. Zhang, thanked him hastily, and pulled Gu Xiao away, wanting to leave this embarrassing place as soon as possible.

The two walked out of the pharmacy with the medicine and a small bag of brown sugar. The corridor was somewhat dimly lit.

Just as they turned a corner, they bumped into Lu Linlang, who was walking briskly.

She heard the news at the nurses' station and came here specifically because of it.
