Chapter 66 The Plague God's Church

Riding a level-one exotic beast, Tengyue, Quan Ji traveled for two nights to reach Fengyuan City, the closest city to the isolation zone in the Holy Glory Empire. Because it was the farthest from the political center, the economy here was not as developed as in Holy Glory City, and the people were generally poor, but they were not so poor that they would starve or freeze to death.

Quan Ji remembered that a major event had occurred here in her previous life—an invasion by heretics.

A traveling organization called "Plague God Church," which worships an evil god, has captured many people in Fengyuan City to be sacrificed. The exact time they have been operating is unknown, but... now that Quan Ji has arrived, she will not allow such a harmful force to exist in her land.

As far as she knew, the Plague God Church was not very strong overall. Once she understood the situation, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just go and attack them.

That night.

The lights in Fengyuan City were dim, and it was chilly; there wasn't a soul on the road.

Quan Ji was walking down the street, intending to find a tavern to spend the night, when she suddenly heard a wailing sound. The sound was delicate and pitiful, making people feel very distressed.

Quan Ji looked in the direction of the sound and saw a little girl, about four or five years old, standing on the ground. She had a cute face, but was thin, and kept wiping tears from her eyes with both hands.

"Mommy...Mommy...Jiajia wants her mommy." The girl said between sobs, her voice choked with emotion, a heartbreaking sight.

Quan Ji walked over, her voice icy, but she still managed to soften her tone and make it sound gentle: "What's your name? What's wrong?"

The little girl trembled with fright, quickly lowered her hand, and opened her eyes wide to see who it was.

In an instant, her tears stopped, she blinked, opened her mouth, and looked very surprised.

Jiajia had never seen such a beautiful older sister.

"I...I'm Le Jia, my mom calls me Jiajia...Sister, you're so pretty! What...what's your name?"

This woman is so beautiful, she must be a good person!

Quan Ji smiled slightly, squatted down, and gently patted Jiajia's head with one hand.

"My name is Quan Ji. Why were you crying just now?"

As she spoke, tears welled up in Jiajia's big eyes again, her little face turned red, and she began to sob.

"Mommy...Mommy was kidnapped by bad guys...The bad guys want to beat Mommy. So many people in the city...hiccup...have all been kidnapped. Once they're kidnapped, they won't come back, so no one goes out at night. Jiajia wants Mommy, waaaah."

The girl cried very loudly, heartbroken and aggrieved.

Quan Ji narrowed her eyes. "How were you captured?"

It is very likely the work of the Papacy, the plague god.

Jiajia's little brain realized that the pretty older sister probably wanted to help her, so she immediately stretched out her little hand and pointed to a spot on the ground.

"It was right here... Mom took Jiajia home and saw a lot of big bad guys wearing cloaks. Mom hid Jiajia, and then those big bad guys kidnapped her!" She gestured in a circle, her speech not very fluent, her big eyes red and swollen, her cute little face crying like a little kitten.

Quan Ji thought that she knew what the heretics did, and that the Plague God Church was probably pretty much the same.

She pursed her lips. "I will help you find your mother."

This is something she has to do as the person in charge of this country.

"Really?" Jiajia's eyes widened immediately, unable to believe it, but she immediately shook her head and hugged Quan Ji's arm with her two little hands: "No, no... the big bad guy will take my sister away too, Mom said that at this time, we... we should go and report to the authorities!"
