Chapter 11 The fight started
Outside the door, a young man was carrying an elderly man on his back. The old man had a grim face and blue lips. He was in so much pain that his forehead was covered in cold sweat and his temples were wet.
"Little brother, is the doctor from your clinic here? My father's leg is broken!"
Song Yuzhu hesitated for a moment and went forward to open the door. Since he was free anyway, it wouldn't hurt to help with the diagnosis and treatment.
"Yes, come in!"
Song Yuzhu quickly moved a chair over for the injured old man to sit down.
"How did you hurt your leg?"
The old man said: "My son was getting married and the family was building a new house. I was thinking of going up to add some tiles, but I accidentally fell off the roof and hit my leg on a nearby stone."
The son said in fear: "Luckily, only the leg was injured. If the head had been hit, he would have died."
The old man sighed, "Ah, I'm too old to be useful anymore. I'm just causing trouble to the children. When I was young, I could jump off the roof without any problem."
Song Yuzhu smiled and briefly checked the location of the injury. The calf was obviously broken to one side and the break was very neat. This situation was very simple to deal with. All he had to do was reconnect the bone and use medicine. It would heal after a period of rest.
"Yumin, come here." Song Yuzhu shouted, and soon Song Yumin came running over.
"Dad, what do you want me to do?"
The father and son were startled, staring at Song Yuzhu with wide eyes, wondering, how old is this man? How can he have such a big son!
Song Yuzhu was too lazy to explain and directly ordered: "Help me hold this old man down later. Don't let him move. Do you understand?"
"Yeah!" Song Yumin nodded heavily. This child has no other advantages except that he is strong enough, which makes him perfect for holding down the wounded.
Song Yuzhu: "Bone setting may be very painful. You will also need to hold your father down later."
The young man swallowed and nodded, "Are you the one who answered it?"
"Yeah." Song Yuzhu took the key and went to the warehouse to find some medicinal herbs for bone-setting, and then took out the bamboo curtain that had been made in advance.
Song Quan held the cooked porridge and asked, "Master, is there a patient upstairs?"
"Well, there's an old man who broke his leg. Please help me crush these herbs and I'll give them to the patient later."
Back in the front hall, Song Yuzhu found a wooden stick as thick as a finger and handed it to the old man: "Bite the stick later and try not to move."
"Hey!" The old man picked up the wooden stick and held it horizontally in his mouth, looking at the young man with a little uncertainty in his heart.
Song Yuzhu held his calf and pretended to check it, then with lightning speed, he connected the broken bone with a "click".
"Ouch!" The old man cried out with his eyes closed. After waiting for a long time, there was no other movement.
"Is, it's okay now?" He looked at his calf in surprise.
"You still need to apply medicine and put up bamboo curtains. It will take a hundred days for the injured bones to heal. Don't do any work during this period. Take good care of yourself, otherwise there will be sequelae."
"Doctor, what are sequelae?" the old man's son asked in confusion.
"It means that you will have a limp when you walk in the future."
"Oh oh oh!" The father and son nodded quickly to indicate they understood.
Song Quan crushed the medicine and applied it to the injured person, then tied up the bamboo curtain, and that was it.
"Thank you, doctor. How much silver is it in total?"
Song Yuzhu waved her hand and said, "Don't worry about the money. The clinic is closed these few days and we are just helping out."
"That won't do. How can you get medical treatment for free?" The old man waved his hand, and his son quickly took out a hundred dollars from his pocket and handed it to Song Yuzhu, then carried his father on his back and left the clinic.
Song Yuzhu clutched the copper coin, looked at the backs of the two men, shook her head and smiled bitterly, hoping that the news her second uncle heard was false. If a war really broke out, who knows what would happen to these simple people.
"Young doctor!" Song was about to close the door when another woman came in. The woman was young, her hair was wrapped in a blue floral cloth, and she had a swaddling cloth on her back.
Song Yuzhu: "Madam, are you feeling unwell?"
The young woman quickly waved her hands and said, "No, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm here to pay you back."
Song Yuzhu took a closer look and found that it was the young woman who delivered the baby a few days ago!
The woman took out a small handkerchief from her bosom, which contained a dozen copper coins.
"I've saved some money from sewing shoe soles for people, and I'll give it back to you now. I'll give it back to you next time when I have money." She had saved this money secretly, and her mother-in-law would definitely take it away if she saw it.
"Forget about the money, what about the child?"
Speaking of her daughter, the young woman showed a simple smile: "The little girl can eat and sleep well, and has gained several pounds." Then she took off the swaddling clothes to let Song Yuzhu take a look. This is their lifesaver. If it weren't for the young doctor, perhaps the mother and child would have gone to hell.
Song Yuzhu lifted the swaddling clothes and took a look. The little girl was still sleeping. Her round little face looked so cute.
"The weather is getting cold, so you should go back quickly. You won't have to pay for medicine anymore." She had just given birth seven or eight days ago and was still in the confinement period. She couldn't go out so early to be exposed to the wind.
However, in ancient times, only wealthy families paid attention to the confinement period. Women from poor families wanted to take a break for two days after giving birth and then go back to work. As a result, many women suffered from gynecological diseases. Coupled with feudal ideas and lack of money for treatment, this indirectly led to the fact that women in this era had a much shorter life expectancy than men.
"Yeah." The little woman was about to walk back with the swaddling clothes on her back when a scream suddenly came from the street.
"Oh no! There's a fight outside the city!" Then a large group of people ran into the city frantically, squeezing the little woman so hard that she almost fell down.
Song Yuzhu quickly supported her and said, "Come in quickly!"
The young woman didn't care about the difference between men and women, she took his hand and went into the house.
"Song Quan, come over here and help me close the door!" The solid wooden door bolt used for the clinic's door is more than three feet long and weighs more than ten pounds. It is a bit difficult for one person to insert the door.
"Hey, what's wrong, Master?"
Song Quan hurried over from the backyard and was stunned to see the woman holding the child at the door. He suddenly remembered that this was the woman he helped deliver the baby that day, and his face flushed.
"Don't just stand there! Come and help!"
"Ah, ah!" Song Quan and Song Yuzhu quickly worked together to block the door of the clinic, and moved the counter against the door.
"What happened out there? Why is she here?"
Song Yuzhu looked worried and said, "People on the street are saying that there is a fight outside the city, but I don't know the details."
Song Quan was so anxious that he was spinning around: "What should we do now?"
There is no other way at the moment, we can only pray that their internal conflicts do not involve civilians.

On the other side, the other members of the Song family finally arrived at the old house.
The Song family's ancestral home is in Songjiazhuang, Qingshui Town, which is dozens of miles away from Jiangcheng County. Although it is not too far, there are many mountain roads, which make it particularly difficult for a horse-drawn carriage to travel, so a lot of time was delayed on the road.
Old Mrs. Song became ill again because of a word from Song Yufeng. After further questioning, she learned that her eldest daughter-in-law had committed suicide not long after she returned.
Although she felt sad, she was more resentful. Yumin had already lost his father, and as a mother, she was willing to abandon her child and die. What a cruel heart she had!
The group finally returned to their hometown, and the carriage stopped at the gate of a dilapidated old courtyard. Everyone lifted the curtain and stared at these dilapidated houses in amazement. Could this be the ancestral home?
When Qin saw it, she immediately screamed, "How can people live in this place?" When she thought about the snakes, rats, insects and ants in this place, she felt so uncomfortable that goose bumps appeared all over her body.
Jiang didn't say anything, and quickly asked the maid to clean up the house, while she kept looking back at the road she came from with a worried look on her face. She didn't know if her son got on her husband's carriage, what if he didn't... Jiang Rong grabbed her clothes, as anxious as an ant on a hot pot.
The sudden arrival of their large family attracted many people in the village to come and watch. Adults and children surrounded them and pointed and talked as if they were watching a circus.
Qin couldn't help but ask the servant to go and drive them away, but they not only refused to leave, but also laughed, which was quite shameless.
An old man suddenly walked out of the crowd, leaning on a cane and trembling, and asked, "Are you descendants of Song Laogou's family?"
Mrs. Song’s father-in-law’s nickname was Song Laogou. She nodded modestly and said, “That’s my father-in-law.”
"Oh, Old Dog Song has really become rich!" Thinking back to the time when the Song family's great grandfather was just a barefoot doctor in the village, he later saved a nobleman by chance. The nobleman saw that his medical skills were superb and would be lost in this village, so he took him to the county town and helped open the first Song's Medical Clinic.
Old Mrs. Song only said a few words and then returned to the carriage to rest, saying she was not feeling well. The others hurried to clean up the house. When it was almost sunset, Song Bai and Song Qiao's carriage finally arrived.
Jiang came forward from a distance and stopped the carriage road: "Zhu'er!"
The curtain of the carriage was lifted, revealing only three people sitting inside: Song Bai, Song Qiao, and Song family's housekeeper Song Dayi.
Jiang Rong felt as if she was struck by lightning. Her body went limp, her vision went dark, and she immediately lost consciousness.
"Rong'er!" Song Bai was startled. He quickly jumped out of the car, picked up his wife and took her pulse. He found that her pulse was chaotic and she was furious.
"What happened?! Yuzhu! Yutang?!"
Song Bai ran towards the old house with his wife in his arms. On the way, he met Song Yufeng coming down from a tree carrying a bunch of wild fruits.
"Dad, Third Uncle, Yuzhu and Yumin didn't come back with you?"
"Ah?!" Song Bai was confused. What on earth was going on?
Song Qiao said sternly: "Didn't Yuzhu and Yumin go with you?"
Song Yufeng was so scared by his father that he dropped the fruit in his hand. He said aggrievedly, "We left together... Halfway through the journey, Song Yumin suddenly jumped out of the car, and Yuzhu also jumped out of the car to chase him..."
Song Bai's body swayed, and he almost fainted. He suppressed his grief and said, "Why didn't you wait for him for a while?"
"Yuzhu's cousin said he would go with your car, so we didn't wait."
But Song Bai and Song Qiao had never seen them at all!
Song Qiao made a prompt decision and said, "You stay here to take care of your brother and sister-in-law, I will go back to find them!"
Song Bai quickly stopped his second brother and said, "I'll go find him. Rong'er will trouble you."
Song Dayi, who was standing next to him, learned that his son did not get on the bus either, and became anxious and hurried to go back with him.
While several people were arguing, Jiang Rong, who had fainted, slowly woke up. Tears burst out like a dam, and she pulled Song Bai's sleeve and cried, "I will go find my son myself!"
