"You did it on purpose! You just wanted to bully me!" Xiao An was so angry that she yelled in the carriage. The noble lady of the capital who was the most knowledgeable about rules and etiquette was now like a shrew. "You petty bastard! I didn't stab you with the knife, why do you hold a grudge against me? What's more, you killed someone at that time. What do you have to complain about?!"
Xiao An was talking about what happened in Zhili. That night, the inn where they stayed caught fire. She was in her room, feeling very nervous. Suddenly, a man in nightgown jumped in from the window. He was masked, so she couldn't see his face clearly. She didn't have a chance to react at all. The man chopped her head with a knife. Before she could scream, another knife blocked her. She blocked the knife less than half a foot away from her face. In the firelight from the blades, Xiao An saw clearly that the person who saved her was Pang Yi.
That night, Pang Yi saved Xiao Anshi, but a deep scar was left on his arm.
"Tell me, did you do it on purpose?" Pang Yi remained silent, and Xiao An became even more angry. She stretched her neck and glared at me, "You must hate me to death, right? You are such a grown man. How can you be so petty? That was not the killer I hired! Am I crazy enough to hire someone to kill myself?! Why do you treat me like this?!"
Pang Yi was so annoyed by Xiao Anshi's nagging that his head was about to explode. He went to southern Xinjiang when he was fifteen and stayed in the military camp for fifteen years. He had never had any experience getting along with women. To be honest, this was the first time he had been with a woman for such a long time. But he happened to meet such a difficult Xiao Anshi, which was really too difficult for Pang Yi.
However, after more than a month of getting along, Pang Yi has figured out the way to get along with Xiao An. There's nothing special about it, just one way: ignore her.
This is what Pang Yi thought and did. He tried hard to ignore Xiao An's voice and continued to ride the horse quickly.
"When will you stop?" She shouted in the car for a long time, but no one paid any attention to her. Xiao An was anxious, angry and helpless. Finally, she couldn't shout anymore. She began to beg in a weak voice, "I'm really tired. My body is falling apart. I feel like I'm going to die. Are you just hoping for me to die? Can't you have some mercy on me..."
"Whoa!"
The next second, Pang Yi suddenly tightened the reins and the carriage slowly stopped.
"You stopped the car?" Xiao An was so excited that she poked her head out of the carriage window and looked at Pang Yi happily. "Guard Pang, you are so kind!"
"You think too much," Pang Yi glanced at Xiao An indifferently, while pulling the carriage to a big pine tree beside the road, he tied the horse, took the hay from the back of the carriage and placed it in front of the horse. He stroked the horse's fur with his hand and said slowly, "The horse is too tired and can't run anymore."
“You…” Xiao An was so angry that she was stunned. It took her a long time to react. She stared at Pang Yi with her eyes wide open. “You mean, I’m not as good as this broken horse?!”
Pang Yi didn't say anything, but just glanced at Xiao An indifferently with an expression that said "What do you think?"
"Good! Very, very good!" Xiao An was so angry that she almost vomited blood. She had discovered that although this man was a taciturn person, he could make people angry with his mouth. Xiao An decided not to pay any more attention to Pang Yi, but when she saw Pang Yi walking into the woods, she still clung to the window and asked in a very cowardly manner, "Where are you going?"
"Pick up some firewood to make a fire." Pang Yi didn't even look back and continued walking into the woods.
"I...I'll go with you?" Xiao An looked around at the vast and chaotic snowfield, and suddenly shuddered all over. "Wait for me! I'll go with you!"
"What are you going to do?" Pang Yi turned around and frowned at Xiao An who was about to get off the carriage. He looked up and down at her luxurious brocade robe with hundreds of gold butterflies and flowers, as well as her delicate hands with skin as white as cream. Then his brows frowned even more, "Can you help collect firewood? Or are you willing to carry firewood?"
"I..." Xiao An's mouth was dry, unable to utter a word. She stood in front of the carriage, looking at Pang Yi with grievance and unwillingness. After a long while, she blurted out, "Are you particularly annoyed with me?"
Pang Yi glanced at her without saying anything, then turned and walked into the woods.
