After dinner, Gu Changlin went back to his room early to rest. Pang Yi was brushing Gu Changlin's boots in the outer hall with a bitter look on his face. Mei Ya and Zhong Mingwei were talking in the bedroom.
"Why do I still smell the smell of pickled cabbage in the room?" Zhong Mingwei frowned and sniffed, saying to Mei Ya, "How about opening the window for a while to ventilate?"
"Come on. How can you be so hypocritical? You opened the window in such a cold weather. You want to drink medicine again, right?" Mei Ya poured tea for Zhong Mingwei and raised her chin towards the outer hall. "Pang Yi, you are much worse off. I don't know when you will finish cleaning three pairs of boots."
Zhong Mingwei frowned even more when he heard the "crunch crunch" sound of brushing shoes coming from outside. He also looked towards the outer hall and said impatiently: "Let him go to the yard to brush shoes. He keeps doing this. I feel like the smell in this room has never stopped."
"Please don't do this. Pang Yi is already pitiful enough, being bullied by Mr. Gu all the time, and now you are bullying him too. It's so cold outside." Mei Ya said hurriedly. While stuffing the tea bowl into Zhong Mingwei's hand, she said, "There are a lot of jasmine flowers in it, it smells very good. Hurry up and take a couple of sips, and you won't be able to smell it after you finish it."
Zhong Mingwei obediently drank half a bowl of jasmine tea, and then passed it to Mei Ya. He muttered, "Hurry up and buy them a house and let them move out. They are in chaos all day long. How can people live in peace?"
"Then wait a minute, call Pang Yi in and talk to him?" Mei Ya said while drinking tea.
"Forget about it today," Zhong Mingwei shook his head, "Let's talk about it tomorrow."
"Why does it have to be tomorrow? It's not too late now, is it?" Mei Ya didn't understand what was going on, so she tilted her head and asked, "We have nothing else to do, so why not call Pang Yi in to talk?"
"No, I'm afraid he will suffocate me." Zhong Mingwei shook his head decisively.
Meiya's mouth twitched: "...Mr. Zhong, have you always been so arrogant?"
"Now you know how good I am to you, right?" Zhong Mingwei looked at Mei Ya with a smile, "I have high standards for others. I will ignore anyone I don't like, but I have no standards for you. Even if you are disheveled, you are still more beautiful than a fairy in my eyes."
"Really?" Meiya was very happy. She tilted her head and asked Zhong Mingwei half-seriously, "What if I smelled like pickled cabbage all over? Would you still think I was prettier than a fairy? Would you still like me so much?"
Zhong Mingwei: “…”
"Hurry up and tell me!" Meiya urged him, threatening him with a bluff, "If you dare to lie, I will beat you up!"
"Yes, of course I like you." Zhong Mingwei said hurriedly.
"Really?" Mei Ya frowned and stared at the man's big peach blossom eyes without blinking, while muttering, "I have a sharp eye. If you are lying, I can see through it at a glance!"
"Why would I lie to you?" Zhong Mingwei said helplessly. He took the tea bowl from Meiya's hand and put it on the windowsill. He held Meiya's hand and said with a smile, "Have you forgotten? I didn't even dislike the crunchy peanuts before, so what's so great about pickled cabbage?"
"Bah! What do you mean you don't dislike it? It's obviously me who doesn't dislike you, okay?" Meiya couldn't help but chuckled as she recalled the past. "On New Year's Eve, we also had fish stew. You ate a lot then. I was afraid you were full. But today we also had fish stew, and it was even more delicious than the one on New Year's Eve. Why did you only eat a little bit?"
Zhong Mingwei looked at Mei Ya with a look that said you already know the answer but still want to ask: "Don't eat stewed fish with them anymore. If you want to eat, it should be just the two of us, not them."
"Hehe, I thought so too," Meiya laughed, her black eyes looking at Zhong Mingwei with a smile, "Next time Mr. Gu comes back from fishing, we can secretly stew the fish when they are asleep at night. If they ask why the fish is gone, we can tell them that a wild cat took it away."
"Your method is only a temporary solution. Mr. Gu is an old fox, much more powerful than a wild cat," Zhong Mingwei laughed along with her, rubbing the girl's white fingers, and said, "It's better to drive them down the mountain quickly."
"Yes, yes, you are still ruthless," Mei Ya nodded hurriedly like a chicken pecking at rice. While busy, she turned her head and shouted to the outer hall, "Pang Yi, are you done?"
