Chapter 11 Hot Pot

"Zhihua, did you bring the same stove and pot that we used to eat hot pot at the General's Mansion?" Ye Han asked Zhihua as they walked, thinking that if he remembered correctly, they seemed to have a set.

"Princess, there is indeed a set. The Second Young Master knows that you like hot pot, so he specially asked someone to prepare a set for you." Because they were on the way back and other people passed by occasionally, Zhihua did not call her "Miss" but "Princess".

"That's good. We'll have hotpot tonight. Go to the kitchen and see what dishes are available. By the way, ask the kitchen to prepare a few of the prince's favorites." Ye Han said to Zhihua. Although he had just said that he would watch the preparations, he couldn't really only prepare what he liked. Even if he didn't know what Yue Chengyu liked to eat, the chef in the kitchen would definitely know it clearly. As for what he liked to eat, Zhihua knew.

"Then I will go to the kitchen now." Zhihua said and prepared to go.

"Wait, there's no need to fry the base ingredients, just prepare the side dishes and the broth." Ye Han remembered that the base ingredients he fried in the past always tasted bad, so he decided to buy some tonight.

The lack of seasoning here is only logically true for the spicy hot pot. In Da Yue, there are no chilies; the spiciness comes from Sichuan peppercorns and dogwood, so making a good spicy hot pot is still a challenge. The tomato hot pot, for example, lacks tomatoes, but the mushroom soup pot doesn't lack seasoning. The reason it's always been subpar is simply due to Ye Han's cooking skills. In his previous life, Ye Han, while not a complete kitchen novice, was limited to a few home cooking techniques. As for hot pot, he either ate out or bought ready-made hot pot base, never having to stir-fry the ingredients himself. Therefore, Ye Han had no idea how to stir-fry the base, and could only give his chef the general idea. As for the specifics, he could only shrug his shoulders and express his inability to help. Of course, the mushroom soup pot ended up being difficult to make taste bad, but it was equally difficult to make it taste good.

The topic had strayed a bit, but back at home, Ye Han opened Taobao and began shopping for hot pot base. He picked and chose, finally buying the brand he'd often enjoyed in his past life: ten packs of beef hot pot and ten packs of tomatoes. He also bought some beef rolls, hot pot meatballs, and other items not available here. In total, he bought quite a bit. He even chose a local store that would deliver within the city and arrive that evening.

"Perfect, just wait and eat." Ye Han said happily after paying. But the delivery I bought last time also arrived, but I didn't use it, so Ye Han didn't take it out.

After buying the things he needed for the evening, Ye Han picked up the unfinished account books again, first giving them a rough review, then organizing and summarizing them. But even just going through them was a lot of work. After all, the account books, deeds, attendance rosters, and so on filled two large boxes—yes, those big boxes. Even if he did nothing else in one day and worked overtime, it would take him five or six days to roughly go through them, not to mention the detailed organization, summarization, and checking.

[Ah! Looks like I'm going to be living like 007 this month.] Ye Han sighed inwardly and then began to concentrate on his work.

As soon as Yue Chengyu entered the yard, he saw Ye Han sitting at the stone table in the yard, reading the account book. He was so focused that he didn't even notice someone approaching.

Yue Chengyu walked over and sat down opposite, poured himself a cup of tea, and asked, "How is it? Is it okay? If you have any questions, feel free to ask the butler."

Ye Han raised his head from the account book when he heard Yue Chengyu's voice. "It's okay for now. I'll take a general look at everything in the next few days and then do a detailed review. There are too many account books and they are too complicated. Reorganizing them will also make it easier to manage them in the future."

"Just do whatever you want. If you have any questions, ask Butler Wu."

"Yes, I understand." Ye Han looked up at the sky and found that it was already dark. So he asked, "Your Highness, are we having dinner now?"

"Bring the food. It's a good opportunity to try the feast that the princess has prepared tonight." Yue Chengyu made a rare joke.

Ye Han smiled after hearing this. "I think I won't disappoint the prince," he replied. Then he turned to the maid behind him and said, "Serve the food."

"Yes, Princess."

Ye Han watched the maid leave, then turned to Yue Chengyu and said, "Your Highness. I'll go get something." Ye Han's "I" was actually a result of a casual chat in the carriage today, and she blurted it out. However, Ye Han noticed that Yue Chengyu didn't seem displeased. She tried to use "I" a few more times, but still didn't object or show any corresponding expression. So, Ye Han naturally changed her words to "I." After all, who would want to call themselves "Your Majesty" when they could call themselves "I"? Of course, this was only when there were no outsiders around. When there were outsiders around, especially on important occasions, she still called herself "Your Majesty." After all, less trouble is better than more trouble. In this era, being the first to stand out is not a good thing.

"Um."

Ye Han stood up and walked into the small kitchen. After sending everyone out, he opened Taobao and checked his package. Sure enough, it had arrived. So, he took out the package, unpacked it, and put it on a plate. He moved very quickly.

Ye Han finished packaging and had the items taken out. Zhihua had already set up the stove and started the pot. Ye Han came out and looked at the broth in the pot. He walked over to the pot and threw the hot pot base on the plate into the pot. The pot was a double-flavored hot pot, half tomato and half butter.

Yue Chengyu looked at the unfamiliar objects before him and thought to himself, "It seems the princess truly is hiding a secret. I need to have someone investigate. If it doesn't harm the Great Viet Dynasty, I won't delve into it. If it does, don't blame him for being ruthless." Yue Chengyu pondered a great deal, but his expression remained unchanged. Indeed, Yue Chengyu already suspected Ye Han was a spy from another country.
