Chapter 79 Children's Problems

"Prince, are you in a hurry to have a child?" Ye Han suddenly asked seriously.

Yue Chengyu also became serious after hearing Ye Han's words. "What do you mean, Princess? Don't you want to have a baby?"

"To be more precise, I don't want to have a baby now, if Your Highness can accept it two years later."

"Why?"

"Because the body fully matures at the age of eighteen, and I'm not there yet."

Yue Chengyu relaxed when he heard Ye Han's words and asked, "Princess, can you explain it in detail?"

"Actually, regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl, premature childbirth isn't good for both the adults and the child. The human body doesn't fully mature until the age of eighteen, which is why eighteen is the age of majority over there."

"eighteen?"

"Yes, speaking of this, I have to mention that girls are giving birth too young these days. Many get married and have children when they are only fifteen or sixteen, so the probability of having a difficult birth is very high. In many cases, both the adult and the child do not survive."

Yue Chengyu fell into deep thought. It had been known for centuries that older people had a higher survival rate when giving birth, but why hadn't this been changed? It was because the average life expectancy was only around 35. If the childbearing age was really raised, not to mention where the needed population would come from, how would the children survive if their parents were gone before they grew up?

Ye Han looked at Yue Chengyu's pensive expression and obviously thought of this. He reached out and patted Yue Chengyu on the shoulder. "That's what I said. I can't take care of everyone now, but once my living standards improve, I will be able to do it one day."

"Then let's wait two years." Yue Chengyu brought the topic back. After all, it was useless to worry too much now. Even if he knew, even if he thought about it more, Dayue couldn't do it now.

"That's what I mean, as long as there's no pressure on your side."

"What pressure can I have? I'm not the emperor's brother. I must have an heir." Yue Chengyu was speaking the truth. The only pressure might be the emperor and empress's urging, but honestly, there was no need to have a child immediately. After all, he was not the crown prince, so there was no need to have a child immediately to reassure people.

"So is there still a problem?"

"Yes, use this for contraception in the future." Ye Han took out a small box.

"What is this?" Yue Chengyu looked at the small box again and again.

"Ahem, contraceptive."

Yue Chengyu looked at Ye Han's slightly embarrassed expression and laughed, "It seems that Xiao Ye is well prepared."

"That was prepared long ago. I bought it on the wedding day."

"Oh? It seems the princess already had an idea. Let's continue."

The next day, Ye Han rubbed his aching waist. At first, Yue Chengyu was very gentle, considering that it was Ye Han's first time. But now that Ye Han has almost adapted to it, Yue Chengyu's true nature has been exposed.

Ye Han rubbed his waist and became more and more angry. He wanted to kick Yue Chengyu, but there was no one on the other side of the bed.

After washing up and eating, Ye Han went to the store without stopping, forgetting the little incident in the morning.

Yue Chengyu listened to Ye Han's words last night and got up early the next day to check some information before going to court.

After the morning court session ended, Yue Chengyu discussed the issue of childbearing age with the emperor and the crown prince in the imperial study.

The emperor and the crown prince pondered for a moment after hearing this. Finally, the emperor spoke up, "Chengyu, investigate this issue, find out what the proportion is, and then write a detailed report."

"Yeah." Yue Chengyu nodded.

"Eighteen years old? It seems like you haven't wanted children in the past two years."

"Yeah." Yue Chengyu still only replied with one word.

"It's up to you. Compared to the child, your princess's safety is more important." The emperor had obviously grown accustomed to Yue Chengyu's way of speaking and didn't bother with his attitude. Instead, his focus was elsewhere. Compared to the child, Ye Han's safety was indeed more important.

When Yue Chengyu heard what his father said, he didn't know what to feel for a moment.

After Yue Chengyu finished talking about this matter, he did not stay in the imperial study for long. He stood up and said goodbye to go about his own business.

On the way back, Yue Chengyu did not go directly back to the palace, but went to the shop to find Ye Han.

When the shop assistant saw Yue Chengyu come in, he hurried forward to greet him.

"Where's the princess?"

"The princess is in the room inside, discussing something with Shopkeeper Sun."

"Okay, got it."

"Let me lead the way, Your Majesty?"

"No need, I will go there myself."

"yes."

Yue Chengyu walked towards the room that had been converted into an office and knocked on the door.

"Enter."

Yue Chengyu heard what Ye Han said and pushed the door open and walked in. Ye Han looked up and saw that it was Yue Chengyu who came in. He was surprised and asked, "Why are you here?"

When Shopkeeper Sun saw that it was Yue Chengyu, he quickly stood up and saluted. "Your Highness."

"No need to be polite."

Yue Chengyu found a random seat and sat down. "I just passed by on my way back from the palace and came to take a look."

Ye Han smiled and didn't expose Cheng Yu. Shopkeeper Sun looked puzzled and asked, "When did you pass by this shop after returning from the palace?" Then he looked at Ye Han again and suddenly felt a toothache.

"Then you take a seat first. I'm still a little busy."

"You guys are busy, you can pretend I don't exist." After saying that, Yue Chengyu picked up Ye Han's teacup and drank leisurely.

Ye Han watched Yue Chengyu's actions and reminded him, "Your Highness, you are holding my cup. Can someone bring you another one?"

"No, I see the guys outside are quite busy, so let's use this."
