"Greetings to the Third Prince and the Third Prince's Consort." The butler bowed to Ye Han and Yue Chengyu.
"Well, is the carriage ready?" Yue Chengyu stood up and was about to go out.
"Yes, sir, the carriage is ready."
"Well, let's go." These words were said to Ye Han.
Upon hearing this, Ye Han lifted her skirt and followed. As she left, she did not forget to say to the housekeeper, "Thank you for your hard work, Uncle Wu." Her tone was natural and generous, friendly but not losing her status.
The steward of the Third Prince's Mansion was named Wu, and Ye Han's calling him "Uncle Wu" could be said to have won him a lot of favor.
"Your Highness the Third Prince's wife is too kind. This is what I should do." Butler Wu had a good impression of Ye Han, so he had a kind smile on his face.
After Ye Han finished talking to Butler Wu, he took two quick steps and caught up with Yue Chengyu, following him a little to the right and behind. The two of them were silent along the way, but Ye Han noticed that Yue Chengyu had actually slowed down his pace to wait for him.
"This Yue Chengyu seems pretty good. He even slows down and waits for the girl. He appears aloof, but he's quite gentlemanly. Not bad, not bad." Thinking of this, Ye Han felt good. His steps were brisk.
"Greetings to the Third Prince and the Third Prince's Consort." The coachman and Xiao Si who were waiting at the carriage hurriedly saluted when they saw Ye Han and Yue Chengyu.
"Yeah." Yue Chengyu was still very frugal with his words. He refused to say a single word more.
"Everyone, get up." Ye Han said and followed Yue Chengyu into the carriage. Zhihua was in the carriage behind.
The two of them sat down, facing each other. The carriage was spacious, with a small coffee table in the middle. A pot of steaming tea sat on it. However, Han didn't want to taste the fine tea, or even look at it. The mere sight of the tea reminded him of the foolish thing he'd done the previous night. Thinking about it now, he wished he could find a hole in the ground to crawl into. It was a complete black history.
"When will it arrive?" Ye Han asked in the quiet carriage.
Yue Chengyu raised his head upon hearing this, looked at Ye Han, and replied, "Probably another half hour."
When Ye Han heard that there was still half an hour left, his head drooped.
Yue Chengyu saw Ye Han listlessly lowering his head, so he asked, "If you're bored, there are books here, or pillows where you can take a nap. Which one do you want?"
"Pillow." Ye Han thought about how he had slept too late last night. He was about to meet the Emperor and Empress, so he was afraid he'd say something wrong. It might be a good time to rest up. After all, this was high-intensity mental work.
"Well, here you go." As he said that, he took the pillow out of the grid and handed it to Ye Han.
"Thank you." Ye Han took the pillow, thought for a moment, and said, "Third Prince, you're not quite the same as the rumors say." It was indeed different. Although he had a blank expression and would never say more than one word, from some small details, it could be seen that the Third Prince was actually somewhat warm-hearted. It wasn't much, but he wasn't overbearing either. So far, it seemed comfortable to be around him.
"Really? Miss Ye is not the same as what is said outside. People say that Miss Ye is dignified and steady..." Yue Chengyu asked without raising his eyes while looking at the book.
"Ahem~ Rumors are indeed not to be believed. This is good, very good." Ye Han almost choked on his own saliva when he heard Yue Chengyu's words. He turned around, closed his eyes, and stopped talking. "Really, who doesn't have a personality?"
Yue Chengyu saw Ye Han turning around and found it quite amusing, so he smiled silently. In fact, Yue Chengyu was basically satisfied with Ye Han. First of all, her appearance was impeccable. For someone who was well-known in the circle of powerful ladies in Beijing, how could her appearance be bad? Even if she was not the most beautiful, she was still impeccable. Secondly, judging from their current interactions, Ye Han had shown generosity, propriety, and a sense of propriety. It was obvious that Ye Han was an intelligent person. Getting along with intelligent people could avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble, which Yue Chengyu was particularly satisfied with. As for the discrepancy between Ye Han's personality and the rumors, it was not a big problem. It was even a small surprise. At least she was not particularly old-fashioned and boring. Although Yue Chengyu himself was quite boring, he still preferred those who were more lively.
To sum up, Yue Chengyu is actually very active in getting along with Ye Han. In fact, Yue Chengyu and Ye Han are quite similar in some aspects. Both of them are rational and pragmatic people. Both of them know that the ending cannot be changed. Blindly resisting will only make themselves more depressed. Instead of doing this, it is better to actively contact them. If the two of them have a good relationship, everyone will feel relaxed.
So, in fact, the two of them are quite suitable for each other, and both are clear-headed people.
There was no conversation until the carriage stopped at the palace gate.
"Wake up, we're here." Yue Chengyu poked Ye Han. Seeing Ye Han open her eyes and sit up, he poured her a cup of tea and handed it to her, asking, "Do you want to take it easy? Can you go down later?"
"No, let's go. It's not good to be late." On the one hand, being late would indeed cause people to criticize her, but on the other hand, it was because of Yue Chengyu. Yue Chengyu's asking this meant that he was willing to accommodate her. Since he gave her face, she should return the favor and not make things difficult for him. Relationships between people must be mutual in order to last.
"Okay." Yue Chengyu said and got up first to get out of the car. He even offered his hand to help Ye Han when he got out of the car.
"Your Majesty, the Empress, the Third Prince and his wife are requesting an audience outside the palace."
"Oh? Here you are. Please come in." said the emperor.
"Third Prince, Third Prince's Consort, the Emperor and Empress invite you."
Ye Han followed Yue Chengyu into the room.
"Your son pays homage to his father, the Emperor, and his mother, the Empress."
After Yue Chengyu saluted, Ye Han followed suit and saluted, "Daughter-in-law greets father, emperor, and mother, empress."
"Good boy, please get up." The queen said gently.
Yue Chengyu and Ye Han stood up, then picked up the teacups from the palace maids and began to serve tea.
"Father, please have some tea." Ye Han first toasted the emperor.
